Dad was my rock. He was always there or just a phone call away. He was the funniest man I knew, he could make you smile just by him walking into the room. But with all his fun did come a serious side of him. He was a stern and disciplined man, but he could never resist the opportunity to have a little fun here and there.
As I was an only child I got to spend a lot more time with him. Looking back I really do appreciate the time I got to spend with him. From as young as I can remember I looked up to my dad. I wanted to be just like him. He taught me many thing, but most importantly he taught me how to be compassionate, how to love and how to care. He as inspired me to achieve my goals, and now that he has passed that is exactly want I’m going to do.

Obviously growing up I feel in love with the place to. And once you step foot on the beach all your problems go away. He was an amazing lifeguard, who saved many lives. Lifesaving was his passion and that’s why he was so extraordinary at it.
Mum and dad where married for a year before they had me. I defiantly would say that dad stepped up to the role of being a father. He was always so caring and understanding, even if I did something mischievous. Dad never got very angry. Even if I asked him a thousand questions while he was trying to work. Dad was so inspirational to me, this was because of how many lives he has saved. I really do feel like I am following in his footsteps. If it wasn’t for him I would have never of found my love for the beach either.
Mum and Dad where madly in love. Don’t get me wrong it was nice to have a small family that most of the time got along. Mum and dad first met on the beach. How typical. Time always flew by when you were with dad. It was incredible. He was actually a really clever man. He would always help with my school work and assignments. Dad was just an all-round loveable
On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank all of you for your compassion and for being present here today. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Mauri-Lynne, and I'm Lionel's daughter. Dad was devoted to every one of you. We all hope that you'll share your memories of him with us, if not today then in the weeks and months to come.
With a busy work schedule and the seemingly constant need for sleep, my dad always makes time for his family. Whether it’s rushing home to chaperone a field trip, or strategically planning vacation days to be off when the rest of the family is, my dad is a dedicated husband, and father. Through all the chaos of life he makes time to have dinner with us every night, coach baseball and football, carpool friends, and voluntarily construct sets for the productions I am apart of. Not only does he do these things things, but he does them with love. The bond and dedication my father has given me, is something I will be forever grateful for.
Having my dad as my coach was a great factor in my soccer career. Even though he was hard on me, he pushed me to do my best. Without him on the sidelines I wouldn’t have became the soccer player I am today. I found myself spending more time with my dad than I would have if I never played soccer. Playing soccer with him really brought us together and we have a great relationship because of it.
I stand before you today to pay my last respects, and to say my final goodbyes, to my father Harry.
In all possible words that I may choose to describe the relationship with my father, the one word that accurately expresses the emotion that has accrued throughout the years would be "admirable." The Oxford English Dictionary defines this word as "arousing or deserving respect and approval." As a father he taught me the importance of attaining an exceptional education. As a man he advocated the urgency of harboring honor and discipline. Encompassing the authoritative parenting style, I have always known my father to encourage success but welcome failure. That is, so long as an honest effort was made. Personally, I credit his parenting style in part due to his military background. Or maybe it was due in part of the lack of a father-figure in his childhood. Whatever the reasoning, I am proud and grateful for having him in my life not only as a father, bu...
In writing about an important person in my life, there are a number of people that I could discuss. But, I feel that the person who is very special to me and one who has been the most influential, is my dad.
Day when he looks at his father and sees an exact copy of himself. Well that's how it was for me ever since I was little and every once in a while I could just picture being just like my dad when I grow up. He is the most responsible, trustworthy, honest, and hardworking person I have ever met. He does have a very short temper and has absolutely no patience but nobody is perfect. I don't think I could ask for a better father.
My father was always there for me, whether I wanted him to be or not. Most of the time, as an adolescent trying to claim my independence, I saw this as a problem. Looking back I now realize it was a problem every child needs, having a loving father. As hard as I tried to fight it, my dad instilled in me the good values and work ethic to be an honest and responsible member of society. He taught me how to be a good husband. He taught me how to be a good father. He taught me how to be a man. It has been 18 years since my father’s death, and I am still learning from the memories I have of him.
My mother and father differ in their skills, and characteristics they use towards me. I will forever be grateful for the aspects they both have instilled into me. Although my parents may be different, and do not agree on everything, they both love me unconditionally. Living in separate households, with parents who are like yin and yang has been a roller coaster of emotions. Together their different techniques have molded me into the man I have
He built and exact replica of himself when raising me. His hobbies are my hobbies, i enjoy doing everything he does. My mom explains to my brothers and i about when my dad was our age he was built like an ox with the perfect muscular that everybody dreamed of. Like myself now, he loved to workout. He would put us in push-up competitions when we were younger against each other and first place could win a few dollars and back then a few dollars went a long way. I read a quote that said “ If you give a man a fish then he’ll eat for a night but if you teach a man to fish then he’ll eat for a lifetime.” The same way the leader of the jungle teachers his young cubs to survive, my dad did the same thing. He gave me my first fishing reel, taught me how to hunt, then taught me how to clean and cook everything I caught. We both count down the months until it is warm enough to fish and when it is legally allowed to kill. The only difference between us is I grew up playing sports but he is still my number one
My parents are now not only raising me, but my sister, Chrissy, because my brother moved out since he is 28 years old. I’d say my mom did a little bit better job raising us then she did my brother because this was her second-go-around which she already had experience doing. I think she took her mistakes with my brother, and learned from them. We’re turning out alright thanks to her and my dad!
He taught me everything while I was growing up. My grandpa worked at Blue Bird as a bus mechanic. He loved his job there. By the time I was born he had already retired from there and had a part time job at a pumpkin patch. He drove the train down there, every time me and my brother would come down, we would ride for free.
My dad is always happy to help. He always has time to assist me with whatever I need. Sometimes when I don't comprehend a certain thing on my homework, he works through the problem with me until I fully understand how to solve it myself. He is very inquisitive and is always showing me diverse ways to solve my problems If I have to do chores around the house, he is always the first one I call. He and I work together as a team and finish them. Also, I speak two languages, so it is a little hard when I am talking to my parents to not get the two mixed up. Luckily, my dad helps me by correcting me if I mispronounce a word or phrase and reminds every time I make that same mistake so it sticks in my head forever. That way when I'm talking to my grandparents or other family members, I know how to speak properly.
There are times when you don’t know what to do or times when you might feel like you have no help in this world, but there is always that one person who never fails to give you the best advice in life, and that is your father. I have so much respect for any father out there that works hard, and always supports his family no matter what his imperfections might be. My father has got to be the best one in my opinion. He has been the biggest inspiration in my life because he taught me so much stuff in this life that I can’t find a way to pay him. He has been a very humble person and has never seen himself better than anyone else because he believes he is equal to any other father. In my opinion he is the best even though he says he isn’t. My father had imperfections just like any other human being in this world, yet he still taught me how to be a great person in this world by teaching me good morals. “Never Give Up, and believe in God and you will accomplish what you want in life” are words my father always tells me to remember.
I always think to myself, “What would I do if I didn’t have a father like him?” I think about it and then I say, “I would be in the cracks, not doing anything because there is no one here to keep me going and to keep me motivated.” My dad is an amazing cool person to me because he shows me that no matter what struggles he faces in his life or what happens to him, he always gets out of them and he has me and my mom to help him.
