A Commodity represents anything that can be sold or exchanged with other commodities. In order words, anything that be exchanged for goods or services (Investopedia). There are various commodities that are used by people from time to time such as rice, crops, spices, gold, copper, oil, money, watches, books, and many other items or products that were used by people to exchange with other commodities. the book as well as to convey the message and learning for the next to follow in the form of a written guidelines. In terms of books, ethos represents an important element that has a direct impact on the overall value of the book. The book is recognised by its writer where the name of the author directly contributes towards the trustworthiness and credibility of the information contained in the books (Ben Bernanke, 2010). For example, the book written by Mr. Shakespeare will have a completely different worth and credibility as the book written by myself because of the trust and credibility that is developed about the author of the book. Furthermore, the style used in the books to communicate a view also contributes towards the market worth of the commodity as it is important for the author to use a language that is well understood by its readers while avoiding the use of technical jargons and symbols that may confuse the readers. Similarly, the book represents a medium for connecting with the audience as it represents a communication medium between the author and the readers. The use of effective Pathos are critical for connecting with the audience as the author needs to connect himself with the readers to ensure proper communication as well as to ensure that the readers can view the information from the authors viewpoint to avoid any misunderstanding and confusion (Dr. John R. Edlund, Cal Poly Pomona). The use of emotional situations by using expressions and phrases that explains the feelings of the author directly contributes towards the effectiveness of the communication. However, the author needs to be careful to explicit the correct feelings by using proper words while avoiding any words that may have double meanings. The information presented in the books needs to be properly supported by facts and arguments as it directly contributes towards the worthiness and credibility of the information contained in the book. The use of information in particular, those provided by independent research and survey bodies that are widely trusted and relied upon by people significantly contribute towards the credibility of the information provided in the books (Ben Bernanke, 2010). The importance of Ethos, Pathos and Logos, Pathos varies amongst books depending on the overall purpose and target audience of the book.
For example, in the case of academic studies, the most credible source of communication represents the books that are issued by the local educational body for education purposes because of the credibility of the source of information as it is published by the official body. Similarly, in the case of novels and stories, the name of the author represents the most important feature as the book is known by its author rather than the contents because of the goodwill and brand name that is generated by the author through his previous publications. Another factor to consider in the case of stories and novels is the specialization of the authors where Mr. Shakespeare will be preferred for poetry and romance stories but not for action and thrillers, which may represent the specialization of another …show more content…
author. Where the books are more social and used to provide valuable information about the economy and financial performance of the country as well as the global conditions, the use of pathos represents the most important component where the author is expressing his views of the facts and figures that are reported by various international independent research agencies to give an independent view based on the most credible information available in the market. In terms of commodities, books have their own particular significance where the exchange of books against other commodities may be limited such as normally, you cannot exchange books in return for oil, gold or silver but most likely books will be exchanged against other books and money that may later on be used to purchase other commodities as money represents the most liquid and marketable commodity.
However, like other commodities, books are equally if not more important in our life because of its benefits. Some of the key benefits that are associated with the use of books as commodity comprise the following; (Nikhil Mehta, 2015) Books assist us in improving our intercommunication skills where we improve our language speaking abilities. They provide us with knowledge and information that allows us to live a better life. Just like any other commodity, books may also provide some disadvantages that highly depend on the usage, which can also go negative. Some of the negative impacts of reading bad books are as
follows; - Negative mental perception due to adverse comments provided by the author resulting in creating a negative image about a particular element contained in the book causing hatred amongst the readers. - The author may promote differences within the book by claiming superiority over other people on different grounds that may generate a sense of superiority in the minds of the reader thereby having an adverse impact on his life. Hence, as provided above, the book represents an important commodity in our day today life which has a direct impact on expanding our knowledge and skills while at the same time, can distract us from the realities of life depending on the contents of the book which may have different emotional appeal to different groups of people.
Books today are everywhere. We find them in many households, libraries and schools all around the globe. We find many different types of books; from stories to educational textbooks, we regard them today as sources of knowledge and amusement. But it wasn’t the case before 1455. That year, one of the greatest inventions in human history was revealed to the world; Gutenberg’s printing press. This press allowed printing in massive quantity, spreading books all around Europe and the rest of the world at a fast rate. The printing press had many positive consequences on society. At first, it standardized grammar and spelling, and then introduced the mass production of books. It finally inspired future printing technologies around the world.
This question, burning in Guy's mind, is quenched by an old English professor that teaches Guy the three reasons why books are so important. One, they have a quality, a texture, that record all records of life good or bad. Two, they offer their own kind of leisure, stemming off the idea of meditating and developing an individuals mind. Third, the freedom to act based on rules one and two.
For me, reading as well as rereading, books such as Junie B Jones, Berenstain Bears, or the Harry Potter series, impacted my life immensely by increasing my vocabulary, developing my vital language skills and many more developmental skills. In the past, being literate meant beating kids in how many books I could read and being able to comprehend difficult vocabulary, but now being literate in the adult world means developing new and creative ideas or being able to prosper an opinion based on facts and previous knowledge.
The term “commodity” is often considered to be synonymous with a “good,” any produced item, such as refined sugar or textiles (Spickard). Although this seems a decent, basic definition, a commodity actually refers to something useful that can be turned to commercial or other advantage. The key point here is that a good fails to be a commodity when it no longer has a commercial advantage. A pile of gold is only a commodity if someone agrees to buy it.
I began to read not out of entertainment but out of curiosity, for in each new book I discovered an element of real life. It is possible that I will learn more about society through literature than I ever will through personal experience. Having lived a safe, relatively sheltered life for only seventeen years, I don’t have much to offer in regards to worldly wisdom. Reading has opened doors to situations I will never encounter myself, giving me a better understanding of others and their situations. Through books, I’ve escaped from slavery, been tried for murder, and lived through the Cambodian genocide. I’ve been an immigrant, permanently disabled, and faced World War II death camps. Without books, I would be a significantly more close-minded person. My perception of the world has been more significantly impacted by the experiences I've gained through literature than those I've gained
There are two types of people in this world, the first ones are, the people who doesn't really like reading books because most of them doesn't have pictures on it, and they find it extremely boring. Then the other type of people, who simply gets lost into their book every time they read, because they just simply love reading. Some of them even say that when they're reading, it is taking them to a different world that only their imagination can create. That is why some people consider their books as their most priced possessions, because of how much it means to them and also some books can be rather pricey. Indeed, books can really be expensive, however, you might be too astonished when you see the following books, because they're considered
If people were asked to define the importance of the books they would probably state that books are dead or will be dead soon. In “books a dying are? don’t believe it”, Anne Proulx expressed her views books. She suggests “every other week someone says that books are dead or dying”. By analyzing which will focused on a meaning, a form and the style of the essay well reveal that books are not on the way to extinction.
As publishing itself is a vast universe encompassing literary books, fiction, non-fiction books, newspapers, magazines, journals, periodicals, music, art, movie scripts, plays, software, blogs, etc. both in print and electronic. This essay will be limited to the discussion of literary books, fiction and non-fiction. We will not spend much time discussing the history of books, however it is proper to quickly mention that the history of books dates back about 5,000 years when ancient Egyptians would write on a plant that grew along the Nile River called Papyrus. Papyrus sheets were glued together to form a scroll. The Codex as a form of book can be dated back to the end of the first century but it gained popularity in the Christian community in the 3rd and 4th centuries . This format of books was more economical, as both sides of the writing material could be used, it was portable, searchable and easy to conceal. Manuscript books began to supplant scrolls in Antiquity. Until the late middle ages, the great majority of books were written in monasteries by scribes, who had high social status. For this reason, the great majority of books in the Western world are of religious content. The introduction of the printing press in 1455 was a disruptive technology that brought with it an explosi...
Books are often used to shield us against the genuine problems of the human race. This is a main method of avoidance, although we must realize that there weren’t many other alternatives for entertainment. Books have the most powerful effects on its’ audience because it’s the only form of media whose outcomes rely solely on that of the reader; we also must consider that literature has been present for thousands of centuries. Books, therefore, are not only able to inform us, but let us portray the outcomes to our liking.
Ever since I was a child, I've never liked reading. Every time I was told to read, I would just sleep or do something else instead. In "A Love Affair with Books" by Bernadete Piassa tells a story about her passion for reading books. Piassa demonstrates how reading books has influenced her life. Reading her story has given me a different perspective on books. It has showed me that not only are they words written on paper, they are also feelings and expressions.
The financial term commodity is defined as a physical substance, such as food, grains, a and metals, which is interchangeable with other product of the same type, and which investors buy or sell, usually through future contracts. Or more generally, a product which trades on a commodity exchange; this would also include foreign currencies and financial instruments and indexes. When one speaks of a commodity, they can be referring to two types of this aspect of finance. A cash commodity or an actual is an actual physical commodity which is delivered at the completion of a "contract" This is the lesser utilized of commodities.(Investors Glossary) The more predominant type of commodity that is used is the commodity futures contract.
However, iIn spite of the current pre-eminence of e-books, it may be argued that they are not likely to replace print books anytime soon or possibly at all. Both formats have their advantages and drawbacks, which makes for one of them difficult to replace the other. Moreover, they serve differents needs and purposes. E-books are famous for their portability. Hundreds of e-books can be stored on a single device. Thus e-books don’t take shelving space and are convenient to take on travel, while even a few paper books are bulky and quite heavy to carry around. Numerous e-books are in open access, while paper books are not routinely available free of charge. E-books may be acquired and accessed immediately online, a feature I enjoy especially and treasure most: many a time I was able to buy and read an e-book at home within minutes of learning of its existence. Needless to say, e-books are considerably easier to cite and quote than print books, since the copy-paste feature spares us the trouble of retyping the quoted text. Another important advantage of digital books is their specialized software, which makes reading much easier: search and reference tools, changeable font size and day/night mode, dictionaries. Last but not least, e-books conserv...
A book which is the crystallization of human wisdom is a medium product for getting knowledge. With development of the technology, a book is not only the traditional paper book but also the electronic book which is spreading frequently in human’s lives. Some people prefer using print books, but some people are interesting in electronic books. Different people have different opinions. There are many factors to consider when discussing the matter of electronic book vs printed book, but ultimately, it boils down to the reader’s preference. We are interesting to know which one is better printed book or electronic book, and the reasons.
There is a book for every grain of sand in the Sahara desert, ever moving in the wind. With an ever growing arsenal of books the knowledge one can gain is without end. Books come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and styles. Some use language from a time long ago while others use more modern slang terms. There are books on many various topics, in many different genres. My favorite part about books is that their are so many for people of any age or reading level: kids, teens, adults, and even some for all of them.
"Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home." Anna Quindlen (1998). Books are so important even when time passes. Furthermore, books always be like a friend that never lets you down. Nowadays, it seems like internet spread in everywhere—all people now are using internet instead of books to reach whatever they want to know or do. To be cultured, knowledge, and acquainted with everything, a normal person should have at least read through 6,000 books in a lifetime—30 books each year, whereas actually there are almost 130 million books that have been published in the history of humanity (The Book of Life n.d). While, some people may say that the internet
