Ethical Lens Inventory (ELI), is to identify how individuals concentrate on core values when making decisions. It is designed to help you learn which category of the four lenses you belong to. There are four lenses in the model, each dealing with rationality, sensibility, autonomy, and equality. These lenses are relationship, reputation, results, and rights/responsibilities. The relationship lens describes an individual who makes decisions based on rationality and sensibility. In this lens individuals rely on emotion and intuition with emphasis on the community. This lens also values fairness. The reputation lens describes an individual who makes decisions based on equality and sensibility. In this lens an individual relies on compassion of
others and the emphasis on the community as well. The results lens describes an individual who makes decisions based on sensibility and autonomy. They rely on intuition and emotion in determining the right action to use. This lens also values mutual respect. The last lens, rights/responsibility lens describes an individual who makes decisions based on autonomy and equality. This lens also values respect and hope their work benefits others.
The results of the Ethical Lens Inventory reveal a Relationship lens as the author’s preferred ethical lens. Particularly, a moderate preference for equality and rationality was realized among other possibilities on the ELI grid.
The method of ethical decision making which was developed by Dr. Cathryn A. Baird presented two components contained in all ethical decisions which are; The Four ethical Lenses and the 4+1 Decision process. The Four Ethical Lenses issue claims that different ethical theories and the means in which we tend to approach the situations which form part of our ethical traditions are looked at in four different perspectives. From each perspective there are different values on which to decide whether the action taken is either ethical or not and each lens also lays emphasis on determining whether the decision made is of ethical requirement. In the 4+1 Decision Process, people who are responsible for making final decisions in an organization do it using four specific decision making steps and eventually will end up with one extra decision which gives a chance to reflect. The 4+1 decision process allows the decision makers to give solutions when faced with complicated ethical issues (John Muir Institute for Environmental Studies, 2000).
n this reflective journal entry, we are going to look at that the ethical issues that were presented in the Ethics Game simulations, the decision-making steps that were completed to address ethically the issues, and the ethical lenses that I used to make decisions throughout the simulation. We are also going to take a look at how these different ethical lenses influenced my decision and the how I could use the concepts that I have learned in my workplace.

The major areas of my values and ethics can be summarized in six words: excellence, personal integrity, responsibility, ambition, accountability, and determination. Excellence guides me when setting targets in all my undertakings; I normally strive to achieve my best. Personal integrity and accountability enable me to make sound judgments to avoid engaging in actions that will hurt me and/or other people around me. Responsibility is important to me as it enables me to identify the part I need to play in my family, at the workplace, and in the community. Lastly, ambition and determination are applicable in providing me with the momentum needed to ensure that all my initiatives and tasks are done to completion.

These morals and values can be very different from person to person and culture to culture. Culture is the learned portion of human behavior, it is the basis many values and morals are built on. Once these moral obligations are engraved into someone’s mind, it is much easier for a person to make a decision based on ethical grounds.
