Who was to blame for James Gatsbys downfall? Was it Tom, Daisy, Wilson and Myrtle, society and time period, or Gatsby himself. The downfall of Gatsby started when he moved back to New York to find the love of his life, Daisy Buchanan. Daisy married to Tom Buchanan and has a child with him. Long before Daisy married Tom, Gatsby and Daisy had a little rendezvous themselves. Where they fell in love as youngsters. Gatsbys downfall of his life was his own and Daisy’s he did not take into consideration any of the consequences or circumstances that would have come with his choosing of pursuing Daisy, and Daisy her social status more important to her than her love life. First, Gatsby a fool for love, a noble man, but when it came to love he was an ignorant man at that. When Gatsby …show more content…
and Daisy first met he was a poor man, but it was love at first sight for them.
Gatsby wasn’t good enough for Daisy because he was poorGatsby threw many parties that everyone loved everyone enjoyed the parties that he was holding. The odd thing about it was that none of his guests ever saw him or met him in person. He only threw this parties for one thing and that was Daisy. Gatsby knew Daisy wanted to keep her high status and her rank in society so in order to show her that he had these elaborate parties that would show off his money and hopefully it would be good enough for Daisy to come. The only reason he bought his mansion in west egg was to be closer to Daisy. He was desperate to find the love of his life. “Then he kissed her. At is lips’ touch she blossomed for him like a flower and the incarnation was complete.” (Fitsgerald, 111). Gatsby did not take into consideration Daisy was already married and had a child with Tom. Gatsby just had a dream he could not let go and that was his ultimate downfall. Daisy was always in love with Gatsby, but all she cared about was money. “Her voice is full of money.” (Fitsgerald, 120). Gatsby knew that she just married Tom for his money, He didn’t realize that she would only marry Gatsby if he had all
that money in the past as well. Gatsby knew that if he had all that money she would love him again like she once did in her past. All she cares about is her high status and money. Gatsby didn’t see the true side of Daisy until the end of the book but by that time he was already so infatuated with her it was too late. Daisy was confused and she confused Gatsby too. Which made him blind. Daisy didn’t know who to choose, she could’ve helped Gatsby. She could’ve saved his life but then again she took his love for her for granted. At the end of the book three people die: Gatsby, Myrtle, and George. Who was responsible for all their deaths. In my opinion both Gatsby and Daisy were at fault. Gatsby took the blame for killing Myrtle. Daisy was driving that car but Gatsby took the fall for her. Daisy is also at fault because she basically led Gatsby on because of her own desires, lust, greed, and pride. Gatsby was blinded by the light of love. If she would have chosen Gatsby none of this would’ve happened. She could’ve been happy. Myrtle and George would probably be alive, Gatsby would’ve been still alive. Tom would’ve found another girl to marry because he didn’t love Daisy like he said he did. He cheated on Daisy and treated her like dirt. In the end of the story Gatsby and Daisy were responsible for everything that went wrong in the book. If Daisy would have chosen Gatsby over Tom on the night of there wedding none of this would have happened. They both could have been happy and together, Daisys hunger for a high social status. She cared to much of what people thought of her and she had to be one of the best in the city. Gatsby clueless to her selfishness and her greed. Someone like Daisy could not truly love someone and Gatsby couldn’t see that. The downfall was Gatsby and Daisy’s fault she ruined his life and he was to blind to see that she was ruining his life.

Tom Buchanan was the wealthy husband of Daisy Buchanan. Tom figuratively loaded the gun that shot Jay Gatsby. After Tom found out about the affair that Jay Gatsby was having with his wife Daisy, he furiously looked for a way to seek revenge on Gatsby. He told Wilson that Gatsby was driving the car that hit and killed Myrtle, Wilson's wife. As if killing Wilsons true love Myrtle was not enough Tom Buchanan accused Ga...
Apparently being wealthy is not all Gatsby wants, but also wants love from Daisy. He loves her so much he wants her to break Tom’s heart and come with him. This man is clever and cold hearted like Lord Voldemort and Sauron. Jordan glanced at Nick and told him in a calm tone, “Gatsby bought that house so that Daisy would be just across the bay” (Fitzgerald 78). Gatsby’s way of being in love with Daisy is to be a creepy stalker, never giving her space and always spying on her.
For five years, Gatsby was denied the one thing that he desired more than anything in the world: Daisy. While she was willing to wait for him until after the war, he did not want to return to her a poor man who would, in his eyes, be unworthy of her love. Gatsby did not want to force Daisy to choose between the comfortable lifestyle she was used to and his love. Before he would return to her, he was determined to make something of himself so that Daisy would not lose the affluence that she was accustomed to possessing. His desire for Daisy made Gatsby willing to do whatever was necessary to earn the money that would in turn lead to Daisy’s love, even if it meant participating in actions...

His first feelings were created by the aspiration and admiration of Daisy’s wealth, materialism was the reason the Gatsby was first attracted to Daisy.
Gatsby was a rich man, but that doesn't mean he is happy in life. He lived a some what boring life. All he wanted was to be together with Daisy. He always had the idea of winning her back for all these years. He also made many stupid mistakes that got some people to very much dislike him, and some to like him, but not many. His dreams were almost unattainable; he coldly win back Daisy from Tom or any way. Everything he did was for the sole purpose of winning over Daisy. He obsessed over her for years. For instance, in chapter four, it is revealed to the reader that Gatsby bought his mansion because of its proximity to Daisy’s home. He threw large parties every weekend hoping that Daisy would just wander in. Gatsby wanted her to declare that she loved him, and, furthermore, that she never loved Tom. He invested her with an idealistic perfection that she could not possibly reach in reality, and he pursued her with a passionate zeal that blinded him to her limitations. He sacrificed everything to secure his "rightful" place as Daisy's true lover, and when he failed to achieve this goal, Gatsby’s
