The Great Gatsby In the story “The Great Gatsby”, by Scott Fitzgerald, Jay Gatsby is shot and killed by George Wilson. Which character is to blame for this horrific incident; Gatsby himself, Daisy or Tom? In some aspects of the novel, Gatsby could have caused his own death, but its unlikely. Tom also could have been talking crap on Gatsby to get others to dislike him or think he is someone he is not. On the other hand, Daisy may be the most responsible for the death of Gatsby for her lying and not being honest about what really went on then she kit Meryl. There are many characters at fault for Gatsby’s death; however, Daisy holds the most blame. Gatsby was a rich man, but that doesn't mean he is happy in life. He lived a some what boring life. All he wanted was to be together with Daisy. He always had the idea of winning her back for all these years. They would talk and have conversations, but they would always result in talking bout winning back Daisy or fighting. He may be a big culprit of gatsbys death. He was the one who tattled on Gatsby and blamed him for the death of Meryll. After Myrtle’s death, Tom and George are talking about what happened and the scene that went on. Gatsby said “it was Gatsby's car that hit Myrtle”, and never mentions that he wasn't driving the car, Daisy was. I would say that Tom is also responsible for Gatsby’s death because he spread rumors about Gatsby driving, and no body knew it was Daisy driving causing Gatsby to be hated and
