What is light ray?
In physic, a light ray or a ray of light is a narrow beam of parallel light which can be drawn as a single line a diagram. ( Referencecom, 2016) Rays are produced when light shines through a small hole which we called a point of source of light. The theory that light travels in straight lines led to the development of the light ray concept.

a. What is a light beam? A light beam is a collection of parallel rays radiated from the sun or other luminous bodies. (One beam of light, octopus ink, 2016) Each individual light ray of the bundle follows the law of reflection. If the light rays are incident on a smooth surface, then the light rays reflect and remain focused in a bundle upon

Describe the formation of umbra and penumbra (include Illustration)
What is umbra?
In physics, (Learner.org, 2016) the umbra refers to the blackest part of the shadow. If you aim a light source directly at an object, the blackest portion of the shadow directly behind the object is the umbra of the shadow.
What is penumbra? (George Lawrence, 2016) Penumbra refers to the lighter shading that suspends on the outskirts of the umbra. How are the umbra and penumbra formed?
(Learner. org, 2016).An umbra is shaped when an object or material blocks all of the light from a light source. Some shadows, nevertheless, have a dimmer part on the inside and a lighter part around the edges. The lighter part is called the penumbra.
This is formed when light from one source is blocked with light from another source filling in some of the shadows. It can also be formed when light from a broad source is partly blocked.
g. Differentiate between solar eclipse and lunar eclipse (Wonderopolis.org, 2016) defined an eclipse as when a planet or a moon gets in the way of the sun's light. On Earth, we can experience two kinds of eclipses, these are solar eclipses, and lunar eclipses, these eclipses have three heavenly bodies: the Sun, the moon, and the
In Astronomy, an eclipse is an event in which an object is covered by passing through another body or having another body pass through it and the viewer. In our American history, there have been numerous events that have happened in certain years that we will never forget. 1831 is an unknown year for most people because most think that it was a just another year and that nothing important happened. Louis P. Masur would say other wise in his book 1831 Year of Eclipse. Masur depicts an “eclipse” as a pivotal year in American history because there were many historical events that occurred.
Prior to the invention of the daguerreotype, the Camera Obscura was the main optical instrument that was used to project images onto paper. The Camera Obscura was a device in the shape of a box that allowed light, which was being reflected from the images that the user was intending to capture, to enter through an opening at one end of the box to form an image on a surface and an artist would then trace the image to form the most accurate impression of an image at that peri...
The Immaculate Conception by Pereda is very dark and rich with the lighting focused mainly in the middle of the image on Mary to depict her innocence and purity. The light appears to be coming from above and just like the last painting this gives the shape of a triangle pertaining to religion. Two puttoes are at the top of the image holding a crown. This symbolizes innocence and more cherubs’ faces are along the bottom of this painting. The puttoes are all looking up while Mary is looking down with her hands touching as if in prayer. This painting comes off as serious and Mary looks very realistic. The cloth that is draped on Mary is also dark and has many folds to it. Along with one black piece hanging over her shoulder loosely. While the
It resembles a French boudoir scene by its subtle use of line on the subject and her surroundings. The line is clearer on the woman’s nude body as there are definite outlines along her upper body, back, and lower body. Line is also visible because of the draping on the bed cover, which suggests movement. The curved line and harsher shadows on the left side of the cover are seen as making a shape that resembles the women’s derrière. The line that splits the painting in two quadrants begins at the edge of the women’s left elbow and ends at the tip of her left toes. Line makes an appearance in the background of the reflection in the slight bunching of material hanging behind her. The artist uses shadow to emphasize line on the women’s back and her bottom. The shadows are also noticeable along her arms, chest, and side, in her refection. The shadows are not distractingly dark, but
The background of the painting is dark with hues of browns and reds. Light enters the painting from the left and can be seen on the tiled floor. The lighting helps to create the diagonal composition as it moves across the lower half of the painting. The contrast of light also creates space between the man and the woman fainting; symbolizing a disconnect between the two figures. The use of space is also interesting, Ahsauerus is alone and is enclosed in a corner, while Esther is being held by two other woman who are physically very close to her, not allowing any space between their clothes, suggesting a nurturing characteristic that is often stereotyped among
The last form the shadow takes are the images people that Ged has come across in his life, “An old man it seemed, gray and grim, coming towards Ged; but even as Ged saw his father the smith in that figure, he saw that it was not an old man, but a young one. It was Jasper: Jasper’s insolent handsome young face, and silver-clasped gray cloak, and stiff stride. Hateful was the look he fixed on Ged across the dark intervening air...and it became Pechvarry. But Pechvarry’s face was all bloated and pallid like the face of a drowned man, and he rea...
A. Line – An irregular soft line is used to establish the eye level/horizon in background between the sky and the field. The diagonal lines define the field and are in an opposite direction of the diagonal lines that define the trunk off the tree in the middle of the picture. The diagonal lines in the field, the horizon line, and the edge of the painting create a linear perspective.
The Boli can be extremely vague in appearance, lacking definition and precise features. This lack of definition can be explained by the Boli being a form of an alter. Dark brown mud can be seen on the outermost layer of the Boli, displaying somewhat of a matte finish as the light reflects off the piece.... ... middle of paper ... ...
Light is the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible. White light is a mix of colors that can be separated by a prism. Sources of white light would include the sun and light bulbs. In chemistry we consider light as electromagnetic radiation. This electromagnetic energy travels through space as waves, at the speed of light. In other words we believe light is a form of energy and that’s mainly what light is, it’s just energy.
In other materials light travels in a straight line, it can reflect and refract. This depends on what surface it is enteracting with. For example when light collides with a mirror it bounce back in two different angles therefore it is not straight.
Light is both part particle and part wave. Light is “the electromagnetic radiation that may be perceived by the human eye”. It consists of photons, which are massless bundles of concentrated electromagnetic energy. Light’s lower frequency is red, and the higher frequency is blue. Like sound, light has frequencies humans can’t detect. Ultraviolet light is at a frequency higher than violet, and infrared is at the frequency lower than the red of visible light. We get UV (ultraviolet) rays from the sun, and infrared is used in night vision to see better.
X-rays and gamma ray photons are part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The twin nature of electromagnetic radiation is used to justify the wave and its behavior. A photon is a bundle of energy that can be identified by the equation E = hv. Where h is the planks constant and v is the frequency. The frequency is equal to the speed of light 3x10 8 divided by the wavelength. Therefore, high-energy radiations have a short wavelength and a high frequency.
...in wavelengths of lights that human eye view the rainbow which is formed when light passes through the water droplets in the air. It then changes its path using the principles of refraction and different wavelength lights take a turn on a different angle.

Light can be classified as a form of electromagnetic radiation, which includes visible light. The ‘light’ commonly referred to in everyday life belongs in this category. The electromagnetic spectrum includes other types of radiation such as gamma rays, radio waves and cosmic rays, all of which possess distinct wavelengths, frequencies and energy levels. These forms of electromagnetic radiation are not visible to the human eye but can be perceived by selected species of animals, such as bees. Figure 1 below displays the electromagnetic spectrum and provides a basic insight into the respective characteristics of different forms of radiation.
