This video is about different direct instructional approaches when teaching children. Specifically teaching children to read. For example, in one approach children read aloud with the class and individually with the teacher. When the children are reading with the teacher they read a set paragraph and time it, and see how many errors they have, and each time they read the paragraph they try and improve and do better than the last time. The children don 't seem to worry about other children 's errors, they focus on improving themselves. In another approach the children listen to the teacher 's signals and say and spell the words she is instructing them to say as a group.

The Reggio Emilia approach is a new way to teach that comes from the old world. In this approach the focus is on the cognitive development, because children from birth are trying to create explanations for things. The school tries to focus not on sec curriculum but the children and how they learn. Very young children who go through the Reggio approach are able to solve very complex problems that normally couldn 't be solved at that age. Art is a large part of the focus in the Reggio approach. Art is what is believed to wire the brain for life in young children, so focusing on art will improve all other aspects in the child’s learning abilities. Reggio does not focus on trying to give children answers, it teaches them to find the answers
The focus of the Waldorf approach is the understanding of the human being through the work of Rudolf Steiner. This approach focuses on the fine motor skills that are being developed during the early stages of children 's lives. This approach also takes into consideration each child and how he/she learns, this helps the children develop because the curriculum is never overwhelming because it is tailored to them. Beauty is also a main focus in the Waldorf approach. The children learn in beautiful classrooms on beautiful school grounds, they learn things like calligraphy and spend time on each project. Physical activity is also important in this approach. It helps the children be successful in sports because the way they were taught is to focus on one thing at a time. The classroom in video case 42 was made up of 12 English language learners. The students were learning U.S. History content vocabulary in small, collaborative, interactive groups. The teacher used visuals – words written on a white board, a graphic organizer of the concept definitions, and a Power Point presentation with pictures and simple definitions. The teacher provided background knowledge through the use of textbooks, so the children could be successful in future history classes. The teacher used songs to assist the auditory learners in the class as well as a video to further assist the visual learners to see the concepts from the lesson in context. All of these resources were culturally appropriate as English language learners often learn best when a lesson is developed through multiple strategies and with a variety of resources.
In the video footage they are studying Science with a concentration on speaking, listening, and viewing. During this lesson they learned to maintain eye contact with their speaker, engage in active listening, and keep still.
The reason these tapes are just as popular as they were twenty years ago is that children are more likely to learn if they are entertained at the same time. The Reggio Emilia Approach was found by Loris Malaguizzi, an early education individual from a town in North Italy called Reggio Emilia. His vision of the Reggio Emilia approach interests the world through his play and project based curriculum, children play and educators guide their play into projects that interest the children. The Reggio Emilia approach is an educational philosophy focused on preschool and primary education of children. It is a education described as student-centered and constructivist that utilizes self-directed, practical learning in social-relations in environments. This program is based on the values of respect, responsibility, and community through exploration and discovery with a self-guided curriculum for students. At the core this program can be the assumption that children form their own personality during early years of development and are able to do so they can express their own thoughts and ideas.
Throughout history many art movements have emerged that artists and styles are classified under. One large contributing movement over the time period from about 1450 to about 1600 was known as the Italian Renaissance. However, what a large portion of people do not realize is that the Italian Renaissance was actually two main movements during that period of time. Each movement had key artists and a variation in style from the other movements. These two movements in the Italian Renaissance have been named the Early and High Renaissance.

Socially, Rome started to fail socially with huge inequality and the increased use of slaves putting many out of work. (Knight, H) The political aspect of society was also a massive downfall for the romans. The emperors were chosen by violence, or by birth, so they weren’t always capable leaders. They started to get lazy and not work hard to solve the issues for the lower class. (Knight, H)

In relation, this grew to be a cultural bridge between the middle ages and present-day history spreading all throughout Europe establishing the early stages of modern age.

St. Thomas Aquinas was a prolific writer and an influence of the Roman Catholic Church. In addition, he died on March7, 1274, at the Cistercian monastery of Fossanova, near Terracina, Latium, Papal States, and Italy. He was the son of Landulph; count of Aquino, Thomas the youngest child of eight and his mother, Theodora, was countess of Teano. Thomas's family members were considered to be of lower class even though they were descendants of Emperors Frederick I and Henry VI.

The Italian Renaissance was one of the most colorful, vital, and exciting times in history. Renaissance eventually comes from the French word "Renaistre," meaning "to be born again." The Renaissance was a revival or a rebirth of cultural awareness and learning among art, law, language, literature, philosophy, science, and mathematics. This period took place between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries. The Renaissance in Italy flourished in the 15th century and spread throughout most of Europe in the 16th century.
