According to Harries et al., (2009) case notes are important to MFTs on several different levels; some of these areas include training and supervision, tracking clinical progress over the course of therapy, forensic purposes, and malpractice cases brought against the therapist. As a therapist you have to make sure you gather sufficient and detailed documentation for case notes/clinical records. Case notes are highly important and it is also beneficial for the therapist in case something goes wrong with the client.
