How would you do to save your brother from the harsh condition of war? The Mostly True Adventures of Homer P. Figg by Rodman Philbrick is an adventurous fast paced story with many twists and turns. The book is about a boy named Homer whose brotther is sold to the army even htough he is under aged. He was sold becuase of old Uncle Squint. Homer is on a mission to find his brother before he gets involved in the bloody war. Once he finds his brother something very surprising happens that has left you jaw dropped. Rodman Philbrick uses historical information to make this a believeable and alive story as well as adding some fiction to be the storyline of the book.

Rodman Philbrick used many historical facts to create a realistic adventure that took place during the civil war. One of the many historical facts incorporated into thew book was... "Then Colonel Chamberlain's voice booms out, louder than the crack of artillery. "Charge!" he commands, lifting high his sword". This has a few historical facts woven int6o it. One, Colonel Chamberlainm was the leader of this regiment, and two, in the battle of Gettysburg the leader shouts "charge"! from the top of the hill. That is shown in this quote. One of the situations where he did that well was when he wrote "That's when the great black monster...". Hot air balloons werebecoming the new way of transportation back in the civil war. But I find it very unlikely that a black hot air balloon named Tilda was a reality.
