After pondering over the specific meaning behind professional identity and how I should answer this question, I realized that my professional identity is how I perceive myself within my occupational context. I was also going to mention some exact words that described me, however, I believe that a professional identity is not permanent. It is a concept that continues developing throughout our lives. I would like to refer to my professional identity as a process that is constantly influenced by my professors and their teaching style, by my interactions with my peers, and by the way I communicate with others. One of the things that I think is really important to me as a counselor in training, which I learned in my Master’s program, is the ability to empathize with people who come with a problem. I think empathy is a key element in the helping profession, and I enjoy learning how to do it the best possible way. Another factor that is very important to me is providing a sense of autonomy to clients and create an environment for them to feel safe to express what they are going through in life.
Administration’s control needs to be changed as well because in most cases it is comprised of professionals with the highest degree in their fields. This in turn means that a great deal of time and with it change has occurred between their actual experience of their first twelve years of education and their present state in life.
It all began when my tutor informed us that we have to find our work
As a young undergraduate, I attempted to prove myself as a hardworking student by attending my courses focused and well prepared, and conducting my assignments as required. Through my undergraduate studies, I was fortunate to participate in several student and voluntary activities. Furthermore, determinant to acquire relevant practical experience, I trained and worked at several establishments applying my theoretical ed...
My practicum was an exciting opportunity to learn and gain classroom experiences in the early childhood education field. Although my field experiences require energy, time management and personal commitment which was the fun part of the program. My children were considered the highlight of my practicum. My practicum gave me ideas and inspiration for caring of children. I devoted five hours out the day from Monday thru Thursday with a total of twenty hours a week. When I first arrive for my practicum, I noticed some new faces in the classroom that I had not meet. The new children were hesitate and did not speak to me at first. However, as days went on they began to open up and have conversations. For the first time, I was able to see how children adapt to one another along with interactive with teachers and their
The school categories are conventional, congenial, or collegial. These three categories are distinguish by discussing the style that the principal administers the school (Glickman et al., 2010). Each individual category gives out a different outcome. A conventional administration or leadership it is recognized by the lack of communication among the staff and the administrator, also, the independence of the teachers is evident, it is no common goal it is a more individual goals setting, usually the responsible for everything are the students and teachers...
I have been involved in working with venerable people for over twenty years and have worked within many different settings. As part of my work, I have worked with people within sheltered accommodation to more recently, working with vulnerable families living with poverty and deprivation. I have mentored young people who were at risk of being excluded from and often had chaotic home lives, some with Special Educational Needs. Due to the nature of my work, I had needed to have a high level of interpersonal skills and to be approachable to people from all areas and backgrounds of society be they parents, governors to social services or the police.
I have never had a real job, but I have taken commissions and sold pieces since seventh grade. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be an artist and that the job title emphasized entrepreneurship and self employment. These past few years, I have spent my time promoting my art and trying to establish myself with a strong base. My work experience includes making art, website building, talking to potential buyers, and selling art. Because of the different facets of my job, I have initiated a web of important connections and gained the skills necessary for being self employed. I have learned to vary my streams of income as only having a website or only selling at galleries is not feasible or wise as it is important to create a financial safety net and vary clients. Through commissions and freelancing, I have become better at interacting with others, developing different styles that suit each piece, and making sales.
During my work experience at , I was fortunate enough to have experienced firsthand and learned, many different sides of what goes into a project, the general process of how a project is initially planned, developed and completed; as well as how much work and detail goes into every stage. Another valuable lesson I have learned during these 12 weeks, were the many different types of work an Engineer has to perform, which in turn, have provided me with more insight into the different types of roles and responsibilities that I could perform, as a Civil Engineer.
Professionalism is a very important concept in this modern day. Because healthcare is always advancing, professionalism is very dynamic. However, some of the core values never change. Higher education is continuously changing and in desperate need of a structural revolutionary redesign. According to Marx (2006) the 21st century is the age in desperate need of preparation and planning – a time for leader to look ahead towards the future. In the past, many educators failed in this week, not knowing how different higher education would be in the next fifty years, almost anticipating a stagnant growth. Instead, however, more students than ever before are enrolling in colleges and universities and graduating, although many are graduating with thousands of dollars of student loan debt while remaining unemployed. This is where Fullan and Scott’s (2009) phrase turnaround leadership comes to surface, an idea which offers today’s
I can see how most of my strengths that God has given me are weaved throughout my life, in my work history and my relationships. There has been a growth process with these strengths that I feel will continue to be refined throughout the rest of my life.
All students enter higher education with high hopes of finishing the course with flying colors. Some perform very well, while
Around the age of seven I started going to first grade so my parents’ focus went all on that. Everyday I could hear my mom screaming be careful and especially she would say, “don’t take candy from strangers” which was getting annoying day by day. The idea of values started when I was going to school because before that I was at home and even when I wasn’t, I was still with my parents. The reason why they cared so much was because I was their only child and they wanted me to learn everything and be smart about whatever that was happening around me. When it was around their grade, I started to be a part of a concrete operational stage, and started to think logically about the world around me. One of my favorite subjects in school was mathematics.
