In today’s time we are living in a world full of competitions. Everyone is having that urge to fight in order to survive. Every business needs a strategy that will make the business a successful one. The question is how effective that marketing strategy is? Nowadays, consumers are not like before that are easy to catch their attention, they are realistic and meticulous. Customers know what they want.
Marketing strategies involves the tactics and techniques that could help the firm to succeed. Thus, it could also lead to failure. In that case, the firm must avoid carelessness. Different marketing strategies can affect the behavior of the consumers and sellers.
There are different kinds of marketing strategy that can be used in order to promote the products and services of the business. They are social, augmented, direct, relationship, services, person, organization, place, differential, dynchro, concentrated marketing. It is a well-known fact that marketing is a way to get the business off the ground. Without marketing, then no one will know about the goods and services a brand is selling. “Good marketing makes the company look smart. Great marketing makes the customer feel smart.” (Chernov).
The text states that marketing is both an art and a science where constant tension exists between the formulated and creative sides. At its essence, marketing is about "identifying and meeting human and social needs". It encompasses both a set of actions which seek to identify customers' needs as well as a social process of establishing a relationship with the customer to buy their products; this relationship is vital to the long term success for a company and a critical part of the marketing equation (Kotler & Keller, 2006).
This strategy is very much about the business which is carried out as usual. In this strategy the marketer is focusing on both the product and the market opportunity.
Overall, these are all marketing strategies that can be utilized both locally, and on a larger scale. Two additional factors must also be considered when using effective marketing strategies. In all reality, all businesses will, in some way shape or form, complete all of the marketing activities, even if completing these activities is not their main goal. (Dlabay 2006.) These marketing activities are product, place, price, and promotion. A business tool called that marketing mix takes all of these activities and puts them together in a way that can be used to help improve a business’s marketing strategy. Product is what the company is selling; Place is where the consumer will obtain this product; Price is what the consumer will pay for the product; Promotion is any type of communication that is intended to remind, inform, or persuade. (Dlabay 2006.) The marketing mix and the four P’s describe very well what business marketing is all about.
A good definition of marketing is the process of the intermediary function between product development and sales. (Reddy ) The field of marketing entails taking a generic product or generic service (the product or services do not have to be “generic” they may be actually unique to the marketplace) and associating the generic product with a brand name (Petty 2001). Under this generic concept are the activities of advertising, public relations, media planning, sales strategy and so on.
Another definition of marketing is the "selling of products or services: the business activity of presenting products or services in such a way as to make them desirable" (MSN Encarta). However, according to (Kotler & Keller, 2006) the formal definition of "marketing is an organizational function and a set of processes for creating, communication, and delivering value to customers and for managing customer relationships in ways that benefit the organization and its shareholders"(Kotler & Keller, p.4). According to these definitions, marketing needs to cover customers' necessities and at the same time sell products to increase future revenues. However, marketing is more extensive than just selling a product. Moreover, marketing activities are all activities associated with identifying the particular wants and needs of a target market of customers, and then going about satisfying those customers better than the competitors. This involves doing market research on customers, analyzing their needs, and then making strategic decisions about product design, pricing, promotion and distribution.
First, from the beginning of the classes I was able to design and implement marketing/business strategies in particular areas only. After that, I am able to create long-term and mutually beneficial exchange relationships between an entity and the publics with it interact. Moreover, the strategic marketing analysis & planning process such as internal & external situation assessment, strategy formulation, positioning and marketing mix were taught during lessons in detail that integrated my marketing knowledge.
