Machine learning is the concept of artificial intelligence learning on its own through large amounts of data inputted by people. Modern society is embedded with this intriguing technology. This exciting technology has allowed people, and businesses’, to access information with the tip of their finger. Machine learning is virtually utilized everywhere: homes, businesses, and schools. As a result, machine learning has created a sense of ease toward people’s daily interactions. The main purpose of machine learning is for a computer to predict future trends by analyzing big data. Big data is everywhere within today’s society. We have so much data within our society that we don’t know how to evaluate it. As Stephen Marsland states in his …show more content…
Kevin P. Murphy, who wrote Machine Learning: A Probabilistic Perspective defines machine learning as “as a set of methods that can automatically detect patterns in data, and the use the uncovered patterns to predict future data, or to perform other kinds of decisions making under uncertainty…” (Kevin P Murphy. Page 3). This form of technology is as close as humanity will get of holding a crystal ball. Unlike a crystal ball, machine learning is a manmade technology that is programmed to learn. In addition, machine learning can utilize two forms of learning techniques: supervised and unsupervised …show more content…
Some discrepancies with machine learning are: it’s not always accurate, the information can be obtained by an unauthorized user for malicious intent, and it can invade a person privacy. Machine learning is based of human input of data. The data that is inputted may not always be accurate, which could produce false information. Another challenge of machine learning is the protection of data. Within today’s society, we are plagued with people trying to hack into organizations database to steal personal data. Personal data can be classified as mother’s maiden names, account numbers, and social security numbers. This theft causes people and organizing billions of dollars. Protecting personal information is another challenge that remains in the field of machine learning. An example of this would-be Target identifying a teenage customer pregnancy before the pregnant teen can notify her parents. Nevertheless, machine learning is still a valuable tool that can have a dramatic impact on the Management and Human Resources field of
AI will begin to replace human jobs. They are beginning created to be more like humans and learn the human ways. According to “With the introduction of machines that can complete human’s jobs quicker, more accurate, and cheaper, the rate of jobs lost is climbing. Ever since the introduction of factory machines people have been losing jobs to technologies.”(Health Research Funding, 2014). This shows how AI will begin taking humans jobs because if they do the work faster, better, and

This story is that, during the mid 21 century, because of the thaw of the iceberg that was floating in the Arctic, thus human created the Artificial Intelligence to help themselves to face the terrible environment easily. David is a robot like them. But he is the only one that is written into the love. As the first robot has love, he became the experimental article to be a kid for a couple who lost their son. As the time goes by, David still can’t join this family, and the couple thinks he can’t rather than their son exactly, so they make a decision to send to the company that created him to destroy him. However, they didn’t want to finally, but David can’t stay with them anymore. David thinks they don’t like him because he is not a real boy, if he can be a real boy, he will hear stories by his mother before he goes to bed, although he never need to sleep. So he still has a dream that one day, he will be a real boy, because he wants to be with his mother. His best friend and guide, Teddy helped him to find his dream and he says he will see him become a real boy. There is only one hope, Blue Fairy can help him to achieve him dream. However, you know, he did find her, but he was freezed with his best hope, Blue Fairy...
We live in a world that can’t live without binary code anymore. Computers have pervaded so deep in our lives that they are now being called ubiquitous. With phenomenal increase in users, has come a phenomenal increase in data. We generate a vast amount of data through activities on our computing devices making it necessary to employ intelligent algorithms which enable the system to learn from and analyze this vast dataset. Fortunately, the advent of Distributed Computing has created avenues to access virtually limitless computing power even through mobile devices thus, allowing us to use highly complex and large scale algorithms. However, with all this power under the hood, it is important to make the computers as usable and receptive to users as possible. I believe this interdisciplinary paradigm will have far reaching impact on industries, governments as well as our daily lives which is why I am so interested in research concerning Information Management and Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Human Computer Interaction, and Mobile and Internet Computing.

To begin, the main issue of development of Artificial Intelligence is the economic factors. Firstly, one of the main negative effects of AI on economy is unemployment. According to the suggesting of Carl Benedikt Frey and Michael A. Osborne of Oxford University during next 20 years 47 per cent of all USA jobs under the threat and will be replaced with intelligence machines (Vincent). If jobs will be automated, people will lose their workplaces and it is becomes one of the harmful problems not only for economy, but also for society. Because, if people will not have a workplace, they will not be able to provide their needs. Furthermore, development of AI can be a reason of increasing inequality of wages. For instance, the salaries of computer workers approximately earn 10 to 15 percent more than others. (Frey and Osborne). It is also one of the economic problems because it can lead to discontent of workers who hav...
Summary- This book expert describes the fundamentals, history, and changes associated with Artificial Intelligence from 1950’s onward. The book provides a basic explanation that Artificial Intelligence involves simulating human behavior or performance using encoded thought processes and reasoning with electronic free standing components that do mechanical work.
There are various kinds of definitions about what data mining is. The authors in [1] define data mining as “the process of extracting previously unknown information from (usually large quantities of) data, which can, in the right context, lead to knowledge”. Data mining is widely used in areas such as business analysis, bioinformatics analysis, medical analysis, etc. Data mining techniques bring us a lot of benefits. Business companies can use data mining tools to search potential customers and increase their profits; medical diagnosis can use data mining to predict potential disease. Although the term “data mining” itself is neutral and has no ethical implications, it is often related to the analysis of information associated with individuals. “The ethical dilemmas arise when data mining is executed over the data of an individual” [2]. For example, using a user’s data to do data mining and classifying the user into some group may result in a variety of ethical issues. In this paper, we deal with two kinds of ethical issues caused by data mining techniques: informational privacy issues in web-data mining and database security issues in data mining. We also look at these ethical issues in a societal level and a global level.
Due to the development of ICT, adaptive learning, which takes into account individual learners’ needs, is changing. Learners’ learning styles are one of the most significant characteristics. They can be categorized according to a number of criteria which are based on cognitive and emotional components of personality. Their combination leads to the countless individual variants of real learning methods which – to a certain degree – can be influenced by the current e-learning resources. When the e-learning resources can react to the learners’ input characteristics or their learning results, they become adaptive e-learning systems (AES) or intelligent AES.

In order to see how artificial intelligence plays a role on today’s society, I believe it is important to dispel any misconceptions about what artificial intelligence is. Artificial intelligence has been defined many different ways, but the commonality between all of them is that artificial intelligence theory and development of computer systems that are able to perform tasks that would normally require a human intelligence such as decision making, visual recognition, or speech recognition. However, human intelligence is a very ambiguous term. I believe there are three main attributes an artificial intelligence system has that makes it representative of human intelligence (Source 1). The first is problem solving, the ability to look ahead several steps in the decision making process and being able to choose the best solution (Source 1). The second is the representation of knowledge (Source 1). While knowledge is usually gained through experience or education, intelligent agents could very well possibly have a different form of knowledge. Access to the internet, the la...
What is Artificial Intelligence? Is it something that’s taking over the world? Or is it something that will help further advance what we know about the world? Is it ethical? Artificial Intelligence, also known as AI, is a branch of computer science that creates intelligent machines that attempt to mimic humans to help further technology and improve everyday life. AI has been around since 1956 when Dartmouth had a conference to research how computers can think like us. It turned out to be a lot more difficult than previously thought. This was the birth of Artificial Intelligence. From here, many companies and people have been working on the development
When we say that the machine learns, we mean that the machine is able to make predictions from examples of desired behavior or past observations and information. More formal definition of machine learning by Tom Mitchell is A computer program is said to learn from experience E with respect to some class of tasks T and performance measure P, if its performance at tasks in T, as measured by P, improves with experience E. The definition also indicates the main goal of machine learning: the design of such programs
Some machine learning works in a way similar to the way people do it. Google Translate, for example, uses a large database of text in a given language to translate to another language, a statistical process that doesn 't involve looking for the "meaning" of words. Humans, do something similar, in that we learn languages by seeing lots of examples. Google Translate doesn 't always get it right, precisely because it doesn 't seek meaning and can sometimes be fooled by synonyms or differing connotations. (Schapire, 2008) Current and future examples of machine learning include; optical character recognition, face detection, spam filtering, fraud detection, weather prediction and medical
Artificial Intelligence “is the ability of a human-made machine to emulate or simulate human methods for the deductive and inductive acquisition and application of knowledge and reason” (Bock, 182). The early years of artificial intelligence were seen through robots as they exemplified the advances and potential, while today AI has been integrated society through technology. The beginning of the thought of artificial intelligence happened concurrently with the rise of computers and the dotcom boom. For many, the utilization of computers in the world was the most advanced role they could ever see machines taking. However, life has drastically changed from the 1950s. This essay will explore the history of artificial intelligence, discuss the
