The king is dead. Macbeth is the culprit but that leads to his own death. The tragedy, Macbeth, was written by William Shakespeare which included these characters: Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Banquo, King Duncan, and the Three Witches. In the beginning of this novel, the three witches gave Macbeth a false prophecy about taking the kings place. Since he is very ambitious, he sawt after being the king and would do whatever it takes. The only way he thought would make him instantly be king was to kill his way to the throne. Lady Macbeth manipulates him by saying to him that he is not a man if he is afraid to kill. Macbeth keeps killing innocent people to cover his tracks, but what he did not realize, it only made him more visible. In this book, Lady Macbeth does it numerous times to Macbeth and in result it encourages murdering, which is what Lady Macbeth wanted. “Your face, my Thane, is as a book, where men/ may read strange matters. To beguile the time,/ look like the time; bear welcome in your eye,/ your hand, your tongue; look like th’ innocent flower/ but be the serpent under’t” (1.5.73-78). Lady Macbeth is manipulating and trying to convince Macbeth to kill, she is making it clear to him that he is and should act evil on the inside but innocent on the outside. In this quote, Lady Macbeth describes Macbeth as a book and men read his strange situations to pass the time. Macbeth welcomes time and so he looks like time, his actions and words look like an “innocent flower” but is the “serpent” underneath him. He talks as if he is innocent but his words do destruction without recognition.
