Japanese Pop Culture is often referred to as modern Japan, rather than traditional Japan. Modern Japan is very different from modern America. The Japanese pop culture includes, Manga, J-Pop, Anime, Cosplay, Japanese Fashion, and so much more. These elements of modern Japan have influenced the world for a very long time and will continue to do so in the future! The history of Japanese Pop culture started in the mid 1950s . That is when early manga books and films took a huge influence on the world, all that way up to the 1980s and mid 1990s. And since then it has been taking the world by storm.

One of the biggest parts of Japanese Pop culture is the Manga books. Manga is a style of Japanese comic books and graphic novels, typically aimed at adults as well as children. Japan's first manga was “Toba Ehon,” a story about ordinary people who lived in the Edo period which was, (1603-1867). Most people think that manga is only read by children and teenagers, but many adults take pleasure in reading it also. Their most popular music is called J-pop. J-pop is the mainstream pop music of Japan. The top J-pop artist currently are, AKB48, Arashi, Exile, and many more. J-pop began when soldiers who were american, were placed in Japan, and listened to music from back home. Soon the Japanese youth heard the American music and mixed it up with their own rhythms and beats. J-pop is important today because even though it started as an American remix it has grown and become original.
