Hybrid Class: Fair or Unfair? One of the hardest things a pre-nursing student may encounter is a hybrid class. Generally speaking, the classes with more credit hours meet either two days a week or three days a week. The hybrid class meets one day a week for the same amount of time as someone that goes two days a week and gets double the material to study for. Trying to get into nursing school is stressful already and putting a more fast-paced class that meets only one day a week does not make matters any better. Therefore, hybrid classes should be chosen by the student so that everyone can obtain information at the speed and level that they so choose. The source of the problem begins with scheduling classes. The usual class for Anatomy and Physiology, meets either two or three times a week and is taught at a slower pace. No matter what type of learner someone is, it is not exactly fair that a class that does not meet as often and is way ahead of everyone else. If everyone is after the same goal-nursing school in this situation- then everyone should be going the same speed and learning the same things. The Anatomy and Physiology course in the hybrid class, usually meets three times total then takes an exam on five chapters. Anatomy and Physiology is such a detailed yet broad subject that not even one chapter can be completely taught in one class. Looking at the advisors perspective, it allows them to see how well the student works in that class. It is a much more challenging course and if the individual can succeed in that class, it looks good. Also, with how small the school is, it is easier to put someone where it is readily available to put them in instead of having to plan out more. If students do well in a hybrid class then of course they can continue to take that class, but that is if they do well. From personal experience, a hybrid class is too much to take on. There is not enough class time for students to grasp the information. It should be left up to the student if they want to take on a hybrid
