International human resources management is the process of overseeing persons who are working across international borders by international organisations. This department consists of managing people working internationally but also manages the expatriates. Definition of management according to Taylor (1903), is knowing exactly what you want people to do and then seeing that they do it in the most efficient and cheapest way. In reference to Griffin (1997) managing has the responsibility of successfully bringing together and synchronising numerous resources in order to reach an organisation’s aims and objectives. I will be discussing the main human resource factor issues in Nigeria, such as the reward system, productivity improvement, changing value of the employee, health and safety and training employees. A reward allocation in Nigeria is not usually based on merit or an employee’s good work or talents, but intends to be centrally controlled (Dugguh, 2007). This therefore generates confusion and irritation between employees. This matter crueler in private firms in which the management gain an advantage of ineffectual labour regulations and then pay their workers however much they want to. The reward scheme in Nigeria is portrayed …show more content…
There is not a dependable legitimate figure on the amount of casualties in the organisations in Nigeria. The reason of this is that organisations are not keen on sharing this matter with the public, as they are worried they may be punished and given a bad reputation of not managing health and safety matters sufficiently and effectively, which therefore means they will need to reimburse the sufferers. Another matter is that employees in Nigeria are not aware of their rights of working in a safe work place and are liable to receive reimbursement as a result of physical or metal side effects of their
Niger, home of the free flowing Niger River, is a Sub-Saharan, western African nation. Sadly, it is an extremely poor country because part of the country is desert and less than 3% open for crop use. The present economic situation is bleak at best. Yet, the vibrant tradition and history of this country lives today in its tribes and its people even through all of its adversities. From severe droughts to military coups to a dysfunctional government to the culture has stayed strong.
While there are many various global issues that affect the International Human Resource Management to run efficiently, there are two key concepts that play a major role in understanding how to approach them with cohesive and a well coherent strategy; they are the International Human Recourse Management Strategy and Understanding the Cultural Environment. In the International Resource Management strategy, many companies will do their research in finding companies that offer the following:
Murray and Dicroce (2003) suggest that management is a process that uses resources to achieve specific goals effectively; basic management functions including planning, organising, coordinating, directing and controlling. The term of manager can be appointed to the person to plan, organise, coordinate, supervise, negotiate, evaluate and use resources available in the best way possible to achieve the best service. International businesses are also finding new ways of increasing diversity abroad. Instead of using expatriate employees as management, they are starting to hire locals. Companies that operate abroad are realizing that using expatriate employees is not a permanent solution. They are often expensive, and are not capable of translating their skills into the new environment. In a company that operates globally, it is important that the company knows how to relate to the local markets, and a great way to do this is by hiring local talent. Hiring locally is cheaper, there is not a language barrier, and they are accustomed to the business environment in the area(5). They can also help the business by providing a new perspective into international markets, and offer ways that the company can improve their diversity abroa...
...ld help improve the economy of the nation. The pocketing of profits by corrupt government officials shows characteristics of patrimonialism, which not only hinders the economy because these profits are the sole source of revenue for the nation, but also harms the democratic stability of the nation and can to some extent cause the regime changes of the nation. The civic conflicts of the nation are not handled by the government and not only do these conflicts drain revenue from the government, but shows the lack of mobilization in the government, possibly due to a lack of taxation, due to the resource curse. These claims show that the resource curse has affected the government and economy of Nigeria greatly as it leads to ineffective and corrupt government with a hindered chance of democratization, with civic conflict that cannot be controlled by the civic government.

"In everyday language usage, management refers to the people in organizations who manage, and to the activities they perform." (Fulop, Frith, Hayward 1992 p. 187) To be more specific, management is the process of organizing work activities with and through people to ensure the activities are completed efficiently and effectively (Robbins, Bergman, Stagg, Coulter 2006, p. 9). Through management, the goals of the organization or business are to be achieved. Henri Fayol, one of the most influential contributors to modern concepts of management, proposed that there are five primary functions for management, which consist of planning, organizing, commanding, coordinating and controlling. Nonetheless, the functions of commanding and coordinating have metamorphosed into leading (Crainer 2003).
“Management is the process of working with people and resources to accomplish organizational goals. Good managers do those things both effectively and efficiently.” (Bateman & Snell, 2004). Management contains four basic functions; planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. By using these four functions, one can create an organization both successfully and proficiently. Planning is specifying the goals to be achieved and deciding in advance the appropriate actions needed to achieve those goals. Planning sets the stage for actions and for major achievements. Organizing is assembling and coordinating the human, financial, physical, informational, and other resources needed to achieve goals. Organizing attracts people to the organizations, specifying job responsibilities, grouping jobs into work units, marshaling and allocating resources, and creating conditions so that people and things work together to achieve maximum success. Leading is directing, motivating,...

Management is vital for any organisations regardless of the size and the types of the organisations.
