Hope comes from having a purpose that you desire or long for. God gives us the purpose to live righteously through his vision and in hopes to be accepted by him when judgment day comes. Prayer is founded on faith and to find faith one must have the hope in God’s promises. When we hope for something we pray that God hears our struggles and our blessings. In this essay, I will deliver the theological definition, biblical foundation and practical application of hope and prayer.
Hope
Theological Definition: Bible study tools defines hope is to trust in, wait for, look for, or desire something or someone; or to expect something beneficial in the future. You can say hope is the starting point on the map, we look forward to our future endeavors and

Through prayer we seek to him for guidance on everyday life, whatever issue we might have we can also seek him for guidance and direction. “Prayer is not just asking for things, but rather prayer is talking to God and enjoying an intimate relationship with Him.” (Etzel & Gutierrez, p. ). Prayer also helps us create a bond with him that strengthens our relationship with …show more content…
Placing in hope in God we pray that he hears and answers our prayers. In hope we find our faith, prayer strengthens our faith in God and through prayer we place our lives in God’s hands for he will show us the future. I have experienced the power of prayer by placing hope in him, I prayed to him that I would get this new position I applied for, I hoped that this was meant for me and thankfully he answered my prayers. It is amazing the things he does for us. It is because of him I became the woman I am today, whether I have a good or bad day he is always there to listen to me giving a sense of relief that he will never leave
“Hope is defined as the action of wishing or desiring that something will occur.” Hope helps people move forward in life to see what’s coming next for them. For example, “I had no right to let myself die. What would he do without me? I was his sole support” (Wiesel, “Night”.) This quote explains the effects of hope in a pitiful situation. Eliezer Wiesel and his father were torn apart, mentally and physically from everything they
What is the director ultimately saying about the ways in which hope affects the individual?
In the sources used, the situations that are experienced seems like there is no hope to be found, only fear. Fear will protect us, we hope. Nevertheless, hope is everywhere no matter what. For World War II in The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne Frank is the secret annex’s hope. Anne Frank is a 13-year old girl that has the most hope of surviving the Nazi Invasion. All you can think is, “Ah, the Nazi’s are coming! Run for your lives!” That is what went through many minds during this time period, fear. Fear is a strong ally to have. You can worry all the time and no one will stop you. But, hope can be an even stronger ally, if you believe.
What is hope? Hope is the feeling of desire for a certain thing to happen. Hope is something that even when everything goes wrong you still believe that there is still good somewhere. Hope is something that even the toughest people will feel. Hope relates to the theme in S.E Hinton’s, The Outsiders. The theme of this story, is just because something bad happens, that doesn’t mean that you can’t stop living life to the fullest, and even when the going gets tough you still have to have hope that it will get better.
Hope is the expectation and the desire for an event to happen. For many people, having hope is to see a reality with a positive feeling. From hope, faith comes in. Having faith in something unrealistic motivates people to keep moving forward and try the best of their abilities to make something happen. Most of today’s religions, especially Christianity, based most of their doctrine on the faith of salvation from Jesus Christ‘s sacrifice and the hope of living for eternity, if we obey the laws of God in accordance with the Bible.
The term “hope” appeared many times within the letters of Paul, fifty-four in the NIV Bible to be exact. The Greek term that Paul used for “hope”, “ἐλπίς ”, conveys a sense of trust in a divinely given future. Paul amplified this definition for hope in Romans; he wrote, “For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?”
Many Christians avoid discussions on the afterlife simply because they have absolutely no clue what the future holds. This is a common excuse that Christians give, that nobody can possibly know what is going to happen. However, I believe that this gives Christians easy, reconcilable way of taking the lazy route, not actually giving much thought to the future. Both Christians and non-Christians consistently look to the future to motivate themselves to perform in the present. For example, a student looks to the future where he knows there is a possibility to graduate, which gives him motivation to write a paper for Core 150.
E.M. Bounds wrote a wonderful book devoted to prayer entitled Power Through Prayer. This book encourages the preacher to become a true prayer warrior. E.M. Bounds has written many books on prayer, encouraging Christians to devote their life to prayer. Since the writer is coming from a preacher background himself, one can clearly see the passion he has for prayer in his life. Fellow preachers will hopefully be encouraged by this and want to devote their life to prayer, so that they will better their preaching. Bounds exemplifies through his work that preaching has no power without prayer. He also sets forth the idea that prayer is the life-giving force behind our work for God. In reading this book, it inspires one to pray more and be able to be more effective in their ministry.
It can help the achievement of extraordinary things and push people to new heights never before seen. Hope is an idea, something inside the minds and hearts of those pursuing it. It is a concept, yet it wields limitless power. It can be seen in every essence
Hope is the strong feeling of desire for something good to happen. Hope is a driving force in the progression of life. The idea of hope is powerful because it can lead to patience, courage, and happiness. Hope is an important concept in Cry, the Beloved Country. Hope is what the main character Stephen Kumalo must use to keep fighting for his beliefs, for his son, and for his tribe. The power of hope is one of the only things that people had to overcome apartheid in South Africa. If hope were not present, Stephen Kumalo may have gave up on restoring himself, his son, and his tribe. Hope is the concept that helps Stephen Kumalo and other characters develop during the span of the novel. Hope is found in the characters, the tribe, and the land.

Prayer is so powerful that we don’t even realise what it can do for others and our own lives. The physical world is always effected by what’s happening in the spiritual world first so prayer is the place to go!
What is hope? Desmond Tutu said, “Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness.” It whispers, “You’ll overcome this hardship.” It reassures us, soothing our minds by reminding, “life will improve.”
Once one obtains this hope, the difficulty of Christianity shifts from the foolishness of believing myths to the stupidity of doing what they say. This is my challenge, for God has revealed His will plainly and has promised to help His adopted children understand His Word, the Bible. Once a person agrees to accept the entire Bible as God presents it in the Bible, the test of faith (or mere hope) comes. A mere hoper won't bother (or dare) to keep exactly what God says; a person with true faith will not only try but succeed when he does.
The world is made up of optimist and pessimists, and the survival of human beings and our well-being requires a balance between optimism and pessimism. Disproportionate pessimism makes life unbearable; however, too much optimism can advance to dangerously hazardous behaviors. The Optimism and pessimism approach is expecting a positive or negative future outcome, a recognizable way of reasoning is best conceptualized as continuity with many amounts of optimism and pessimism. Successful living requires a great balance between optimism and pessimism. Too much optimism may embolden one to take uncalculated risks that will lead to inadvertent and reckless behaviors, which may conclude in a catastrophe. On the contrary, worrying too much about
