Group Learning/Learning from Others Group learning and learning from others is basically how somebody successfully uses another person to learn information for themselves. It is a group of people that come together to combine their knowledge and thoughts in order to work together towards a goal. Some examples of ways that a group can execute this type of learning is by trial and error, talking through an issue with a group discussion, just a general conversation putting all of the group member’s knowledge on the table, and many more. I think that an important aspect of group learning is that when a group member doesn’t know a key aspect of the learning, the others try their best in order to help them understand. The graph in his chapter that is titled “The Structure of the Theory” exemplifies why he would value this. This graph is all about inputs and outputs, or what factors of learning contribute to the end goal. I believe that Illeris would say that group learning is all about people having a previous knowledge base, combining their thoughts from all different approaches and having different idea, and applying it to the given problem. Illeris also talks about how outside conditions can affect the learning of the group. This could have to do with the group dynamic and if they have learning styles that even mesh together. We had a wide range of talents, which helped us immensely throughout this entire process. Having three baseball players helped us to think of our storyline, while having two non-baseball players, one of whom plays no sports, helped us to see things from the other side of the spectrum. I thought that this was fantastic as it gave two different perspectives that changed our video for the better. In my opinion, having different types of thinkers is what makes group-work great. Two people might end up with the same final though, or final result, but the process was completely different in getting there. That is what was happening in our group as we worked very well both on our own and as a group. Filming this movie opened our eyes to new perspectives and new talents that I don’t know if any of us knew we had. We may not have ever discovered them if we had not worked so well

Groups are less likely to suffer from judgmental biases that individuals have when they make decisions. People are more likely to follow through on decisions made by groups that they are connected to. Also, more monumental decisions can be made in groups, because one member will not be singled out for blame, making the entire group responsible.
This team had all odds against them and they still achieved their goal as a team. This movie taught me a underlying lesson. In order to work together you must build a common ground and agreement. It takes trust and communication to accomplish any goal you and your team set. Setting aside differences that may exist within your group and moving forward with similarities is the most important thing to remember. Every group has challenges and conflicts they must work through and together. Without your team on your side, you will not succeed. I can incorporate these learning into my behavior when working with future groups because I gained a sense of understanding that success does not have an “I”. Although, there are definitely many advantages to learning in a group I believe that we must first learn ourselves as people. It is extremely difficult to not draw wisdom from Emerson. Self-Reliance encourages us as the readers to pave a smooth road into our own knowledge. It teaches us that we must first know our selves as people before we can completely absorb the entirety of the knowledge provided to us. We as an individual must plant that seed and go through the peril and toil that might come with the failure of that seed to sprout in order to revel in the joy that comes from it growing into a wondrous tree.
Group dynamics is a term that describes all various processes that are involved in groups, involving personal (psychological) satisfaction of individual members and the output of the group as a whole (French et al. 2011). Group dynamics represents a system of theories and insights that are rooted in a number of social sciences. In every group there are certain forces, some of which are beneficial while others destructive - this is what is being defined and influenced by group dynamics in order to make groups efficient and effective.
Groupthink is the psychological phenomenon in which groups working on a task think along the same lines which could have drastic results. Building self-esteem, enhancing student satisfaction with the learning experience, and promoting a positive attitude toward the subject matter are all benefits of collaborative learning. A higher degree of accomplishment takes place as a group because you essentially are a team. An example of this is a sports team. In a collaborative situation it takes every member to do his or her part in order for a situation to have a greater resolution; as where a sports team needs everybody’s individual talent to win a game. In retrospect, as a group; the contributions of our own talents can make the difference between a “win or Lose situation” it gives you a sense of competition, and knowing that you can win as a group; self esteem in one’s self is accentuated. Every individual in the group demonstrates their own input based on where they were born, what nationality they are so on and so on. The benefit of this is that you get a different perspective on things rather than always knowing what you know. You can take information from other cultures and add or apply it to what you already know.
Since almost everything is constantly grouped our knowledge has been that of group learning. Group learning has created the foundation for this very essay. However whether it be out of the classroom or not we tend to change our perception of not only our thoughts but our perception to others in that of whatever group we want to be accepted in. That is why the saying finding a diamond in the rough is truly remarkable. Because it defines a diamond as an individual and the rough as groups. If someone is truly a diamond they have been able to keep themselves clear of all critical grouping and have truly been able to experience things and act on their own.
What I learned in the group final project is that I am not the best with working with people. It is not that I do not want to work with them or that they do not want to work with me, it is that my group which consisted of Alexa, Aaron, Ashlyn, Brett, and myself, had very conflicting schedules so it was difficult trying to rearrange times so all or at least the majority of us could meet up to go over our group work. Before starting our group project “The Day in a Life of…”, we were grouped up with our fellow classmates but not on our own volition. I was not put into a group with people I knew or thought I would like.

Certain task can only be performed by combined effort of a group. Organisation can use groups to carry out projects, which will help to achieve its overall aim. As individuals, we always been considered living in groups. Knowing why having a group mind is important because it gives a better explanation of the definition of group minds. Lessing’s suggest that "We all live our lives in groups— the family, work groups, social, religious and political groups." (Behrens, Rosen 652). Wanting to belong in a group is precisely the reason why some individuals have group’s minds and the reason why groups are important. Having a group mind isn’t a bad thing since group minds consist of people who think the same and share similar ideas. Group minds can actually be a better skill than the group itself. This seems that the idea of being in a "group" contributes to the definition of group minds more than you think. What I mean is that the groups is the reason why an individual 's way of thinking may change. Various experiments have shown the effects of how groups can apply pressure to an individual way of thinking which exact description of what group minds are.
Learning is defined as a measurable and the act or the process of acquiring a relatively permanent change in a behavioural tendency through knowledge, skills and experience. People learn in their lifetime. The learning process continues throughout our life and it is the first step in becoming an outstanding performer. In today’s rapidly developing world, if you do not keep learning, you are not standing still, you are falling behind. This is not only applied to individual, but also for the organizations. But here comes the questions: Is individual and the organization can learn?
