Girls Basketball Do You know how or what changed women’s sports forever? The sport basketball, gave opportunity and hope to girls all over the world. And this is how it all began… Let’s start with the very beginning on how basketball was created. On a cold winter day in Massachusetts, Dr. James Naismith was working at the YMCA with a bunch of young boys. Boys being boys, he decided to settle them down with making up a new game he created in his head. This game relied on accuracy and finesse, rather than just all strength. Basketball spread mainly through two avenues. The YMCA and college basketball. The National Basketball League formed in 1898, but ended up only being a mess, about six years later the league ended in a crash and didn’t start back up until forty-five years later. College basketball was nothing but a slam dunk. Although professional basketball was nothing was nothing serious, it did have a toll on some of today’s rules.
