Which attribute do you feel that you most need to improve upon? Why? Cultural competencies are the area I need to most improve. What works best for me is, to assess the patient of a different nationally first if working day shift or last if working night shift, which depends of their acuity. What I have learned in that Hispanic men view pain as a sign of weakness, so patient education is very important. Iranian men are very family oriented, you will find generations of men at the male patient bedside, so early assessment and medication administration is very important, because every on will have different questions as it relates to what you are doing to the patient as his nurse. Critical thinking will strength with my continuing education as I learn the patient, the disease process effect on the body and performing a good history and physical. My computer technical skills will improve now that I have Microsoft Office downloaded to my computer. In my free time I create power point presentation. Interpersonal skills as it relates to non-verbal communication is a working in progress. Emotions and feeling shows in my facial expression, which I have try to relax with taking deep breath before going into my patient room.
