In the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, Brutus attempted to use the idea that “the end justifies the means” to rationalize his decision to kill Caesar. Some people today use the same argument to justify acts of war, violent protest, or terrorism. "The end justifies the means" in perspective of today's world is that the end of something is the start of another thing or the end of one action can define the outcome of other actions one person has made in their lives.Most tragedies are given the title of the tragic hero’s name, which is why some critics argue that Julius Caesar should really be titled Brutus or something else. Other critics contend that Julius Caesar is indeed the tragic hero of the play.
"If it aught toward the general good, Set honor in one eye and death i’ th’ other, And I will look on both indifferently" (Julius Caesar: act 1) Julius Caesar is a play of tragedy where most characters die in the fight to become king. Julius Caesar, he is the first one to have a necessary end of death, he is brutally killed by the conspirators that were being led by Brutus. He was stabbed multiple times. Brutus easily passed by Cassius that Caesar is a power force in the way of his chance to be king; he soon makes up his mind that the conspiracy is supporting Rome to form further, and quickly takes part on making a plan for Caesar’s murder. However, there were reasons why Brutus chose to stand against Caesar and one was was mainly due to his love for Rome and his honor and loyalty toward the county. Brutus, is a true Roman, and is very important to Rome but these main motivators of Brutus leads him into his tragic flaw as it made him think about his judgments and turned him into a more decisive decision maker. Knowing the war will stop if the leader of the conspirators, mostly Brutus, is dead so the civil war will end with the victory of Caesar’s accomplishments. Even though his army will lose the war after he dies, Brutus committed suicide because all Brutus wanted was Rome to get better and recover from the mess that was made from the war. In the end, the main goal taking Caesars life to make Rome better was not the best idea. Due to the whole point of killing Caesar was to make Rome better away from the hands of a tyrant of people. But he and the conspirators didn't complete to do so as the things that happened broke out into a civil war, and the dividing of Rome into different little pieces rather than bringing Rome together as one whole country.
