A taste test was performed in a college class to determine whether or not there was a difference between the taste of tap water, bottled water, and name brand water. The results determined each type of water was close enough in taste, that the majority of the class could not taste the difference. If the taste could not determine the type of water, then it should not be a factor when choosing water to drink. There are multiple factors that suggest tap water is the smarter choice. Lifestraws are straws with multiple filters in them. These filters take contaminated water and make it healthy and drinkable. "The filters, made up of a halogenated resin, kill nearly 100 percent of bacteria and nearly 99 percent of the viruses that pass through LifeStraw" (Greenemeier). Lifestraws are just as portable are water bottles, but are more beneficial. These straws can filter up to 185 gallons of water in its lifetime, while water bottles do not even contain the equivalent of a liter. Therefore, Lifestraws are a better choice than water bottles when dealing with natural disasters and contaminations. In conclusion, tap water is better than bottled water. While bottled water is convenient for on the go purposes, and appears to be safer to drink; tap water can serve the same purposes, and is healthier with less risk of sickness. It might be easier to live a healthy life for many people, but for others it can be very challenging. I have tried to be healthy so many times, but I always fell off the wagon.
