Blufish is a Canadian company founded in Ottawa, Ontario, in 2012 by Youssef Chahrour, a 23 year old business mogul. At Blufish, Mr. Chahrour and his team created a new, innovative product that would assist the lovers of the outdoors in all their water purification needs!
Our product is a package of 25 tiny tablets made of chlorine, which purifies unsanitary water. This results in fresh and clean water in a matter of minutes! Since our release in 2013, sales have been increasing in the Canadian market. Our product, “Purifers” is sold in every sporting goods store across Canada (Sport Chek, Canadian Tire, etc...).
This product was released in Canada due to an abundant amount of hiking trails and forests. Since there are many Canadians who

enjoy the outdoors, and take part in activities such as camping and hiking. We knew this product was in the right spot. Purifers is also Canadian made, thus so, giving the people a sense of national pride when purchasing this product. As seen from the table, throughout the three years “Purifers” has been released, it has been doing tremendously well. It is being marketed as a “Canadian made” brand, which has brought in many more Canadian consumers. In 2015, we decided to raise the price by $1, to further increase profits. This increase in price didn’t affect us at all, due to the fact that “Purifers” has become well known in Canada. This resulted in huge profits in such a short period of time. However, there has been an increase in competition that offer a cheaper price for a knockoff version of our product. Legal and Economical Factors We decided to keep our products in Canada, and expand across the world to Africa, specifically Egypt. To export our product to Egypt, we must pay import duty and taxes. The valuation of the cost is based on the price of the goods imported, cost of the freight, and insurance. We will be paying 6.9% of the weighted average on customs. We will be paying 2% on the customs cleared value since the duties is between 5% and 30% (6.9%) Cultural Factors One cultural factor that will affect our amount of sales in Egypt would be the month of Ramadan. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim year, during which strict fasting is observed from sunrise to sunset. Since egypt is made up of 90% muslims, our profits will be greatly affected during this month due to the fact the consumers aren’t able to eat or drink until sunset. Existing Competition Currently, there is no competition in the “Water purification tablets” industry, thus giving Blufish an amazing opportunity to introduce this product in Egypt. Other Factors Due to the presence of Giardia Lamblia in Egypt’s tap water, a bacteria that causes chronic diarrhea, by using Purifers we are preventing the likelihood of these illnesses due to the contaminated water. Modifications The modification we must make when expanding into the Egyptian market would be the increase in production costs of the Purifers.
The GDP/capita of Egypt is $3,314.46 USD (2013) while Canada’s GDP/capita is $51,958.38 USD (2013). Due to this major difference, to attract new consumers who are willing to buy this product in Egypt, we must decrease the price to a more suitable price for the people living in Egypt. First off, the cost of production will rise to $8.97 due to the 20% tax on goods, as well as the 30% tariff rate. We will decrease the price of the Purifer to $10.00 CDN, but we will market the Purifer in a way that the population of Egypt see this product as a need instead of a want. We will talk about how this product can end the bacteria in the contaminated water, and can protect the population of Egypt. Using this as a marketing campaign, our brand will be known in the country, thus resulting in a mass number of sales. However, since we are only making a $1.00 CDN revenue/ sale, we won’t be making a huge net profit. After 2 years, we believe our product will be extremely popular in Egypt as well as most parts of the African continent. We will slowly increase the price by a $1.00 CDN every year. Since our product is a package of 25 tablets, people will always be coming back to buy more of our product. This will result in huge amounts of profit as the years go
by. Mode of Delivery The mode of delivery we decided to go with was chartering a 1700 TEU container ship. The rate for the container ship is $11,600 / day, and the trip from Ottawa, Ontario, to Cairo, Egypt, would take 10 days. The final cost of chartering the container ship there and back would be $213, 900. We will be able to transport 23 tonnes of our product to Egypt in one transaction.
product that has the added value of being cost effective. However, in China, cost effectiveness
Millions of people come from across the world to visit Seaworld every day without thinking about the lives of the animals behind the scenes. Why would they have concerns? From Seaworld’s commercials to the website, they convince the general public that Seaworld is the place to go to see the happy sea animals perform. If Seaworld is such an ecstatic place, what excuse does Tilikum, their greatest well known orca whale, have for the three attacks on trainers? The documentary “Blackfish” was created by the director Gabriela Cowperthwaite because she questioned herself after realizing Tilikum's odd behavior over time in captivity, and if there was any indisputable parts to animal captivity?
Fiji Company is one of the top bottle water brands in the United States. Fiji was “founded in 1996 out of the desire to share the earth’s finest water with the world” (Fiji, n.d). Its water is being exported from the Fiji islands around the world across fifty countries and the United States. According to the company’s website, their water is “slowly filtered by volcanic rock [where] it gathers minerals and electrolytes that create Fiji’s soft, smooth taste.” Although they say their water comes from this exclusive source, “the manufacturing process is energy-intensive and produces toxic byproducts. The plant that makes the bottles is one part of Fiji you’ll never see pictured on a Fiji Water bottle” (Niman, 2007, para. 7). Of course the company will always show th...
Together, the passages “Business in a Bottle”, by Cynthia Barnett and “Selling Bottled Water: The Modern Medicine Show”, by Peter Gleick, portray how bottled water has taken a superficial and deceptive image due to false advertising and pseudoscientific claims by greedy bottling companies, whose purpose is to take advantage of a free resource in order to make millions in profit; destroying the environment as they go. Both passages expose the bottling companies’ manipulative tricks, in order to bring awareness and open the populations’ eyes to the lies they have been fed for many years, however the authors utilize distinct styles to achieve their goal. Barnett focuses on specific bottling companies’ data and incorporates analysts for support,
Broni-Mensah got water for thousands of Ghanaians and other rural African countries. First of all, “The Manchester-based PhD student's response was to launch GiveMeTap -- a sustainable water scheme where people can buy stainless steel water bottles and refill them using a network of cafes and restaurants across Britain” (Said-Moorhouse). Here, Broni-Mensah started the company when he realized how hard it must be to get clean water to poor people. Moreover, “Outside of Africa, Broni-Mensah continues to push the GiveMeTap ethos and build up the free water refill participation network” (Said-Moorhouse). As you can see here, Broni-Mensah is working hard to build up GiveMeTap’s reputation so he can give more clean water to rural Africa. As Said-Moorhouse said, “To date, GiveMeTap has been able to build four water projects in Ghana, Malawi and Namibia with another four projects to be constructed in Ghana from December” (Said-Moorhouse). Broni-Mensah’s company has been quite successful in building water projects. consequently, GiveMeTap and Broni-Mensah has been able to save thousands of people and will save thousands

Water is one of the most important things in this universe. It is used in everyday life, and without it, there would be no life on this planet. But, to be able to use the water efficiently, it needs to be clean and unpolluted. One woman realized that all across America people needed something to purify their water with. So, she and her husband set out on a mission to create a chemical company for water analyzation. Her name was Katherine Hach Darrow.
J.D. Salinger’s short story, “A Perfect Day for Bananafish” shows the harmful effects of materialism on society and individuals. Married couple Muriel and Seymour Glass are vacationing in Florida in 1947 while Seymour suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. Seymour’s perspective on life his different from Muriel’s perspective because of his time in the military. The story begins with a conversation between Muriel and her mother that shows their shallow nature, which is representative of society. Sybil Carpenter is integral in making Seymour realize the extent to which greed and shallowness pervade their society and how it even affects the most innocent members of society. His realization becomes an overwhelming burden in his mind
For example, the United States’ capita consumption of bottled water lagged those of soft drinks by more than a 2:1 margin. In terms of bottle water, the majority of sales volume is based on single-serving PET containers rather than 5 or 1-2.5 gallon high density polyethylene containers used for home or office use. The single PET container has been satisfied by the customers because it is convenient and portable. It can be purchased from a convenience store. Number of rival There were fierce competitions among the producers that had scale and scope of operations which were similar to each other.
A company by the name of LifeStraw is the main supplier of these products. A LifeStraw is defined as “a water filter, designed to be used by one person to filter water for drinking. It filters a maximum of 1000 litres of water, enough for one person for one year. It removes almost all of waterborne bacteria and parasites.” (LifeStraw, 1). These products are pretty easy to get your hands on, all you have to do is go to lifestraw.eartheasy.com. This website is selling these filtration systems in varying sizes, that go from personal use to community wide use. These things range in price from $19.99 to $335.95. To the left is an image of people using these LifeStraws. As you can see, the straws can go directly into the dirty water and as the person sucks up the water, the straw filters it and comes out the other end as clean, drinkable water. Depending on the size, these products can purify around 100,000 liters of water a year. This is enough water to support a water deprived community. The purification filter eliminates 99.99999% of viruses and bacteria in the water as it goes through the straw. This is a revolutionary product, the only problem is the people that are in need of these straws do not have the money or access to get them. LifeStraw has developed a program to help solve this problem. On the LifeStraw website it says “With our Follow the Liters program, for every LifeStraw product sold, a child in a developing country

From a business point of view, it seems so ignorantly deceptive, yet it is absolutely genius. With a little marketing, bottled water has become a huge success. However, it is killing the environment and the water is usually comparable to tap water regardless. The “The Story of Bottled Water” is a very well-made short film that takes viewers into the dark world of manufactured demand.
Clean water is needed for good human and animal health, but as DoSomething.org states, over 1 billion people worldwide don’t have a means of getting clean drinking water, an...
Having clean water to drink means that water must have microbial, chemical and physical characteristics that meet WHO guidelines or national standards on drinking water quality. Around 780 million people in the world don’t have access to clean drinking water (Millions Lack Safe Water). More than 3.4 million people die each year from water, sanitation, and hygiene-related causes. Nearly all deaths, 99 percent, occur in developing countries. Around the world, diseases in unclean water kill about 1,400 children every day (Clean Drinking Water). There are many organizations that raise money in order to help develop ways or create ways for people to obtain clean drinking water. However, many people are unaware that this is even a problem in other countries because we take clean water for granted.
Water plays such an important role in our daily lives. 70% of our body is composed of water. 70% of the earth surface is also made up of water, but out of the 70%, only 1/3 of water is consumable. In fact, this amount has been continuously to decrease as more and more industries began to pollute and damage the water. For example, many toxic chemicals may be released into the water thus making the water impure. Such pollutions and damages lead the water to be contaminated and inconsumable as it may cause severe diseases. Water purification can remove all the unnecessary bacteria and viruses from the water that is hazardous for our health. Water purification may also improve the flavor and appearance of water. It removes the unpleasant odor. Therefore, water purification became one of the most useful and popular process used by people all over the world today. It is by far the most recommended and safest water treatment that is commonly used to purify damaged water into consumable water. Water purification provides us with safe, pure and clean water to consume and use.
