Smoking is a hard habit to break because tobacco contains nicotine, which is highly addictive. Like heroin or other addictive drugs, the body and mind quickly become so used to the nicotine in cigarettes that a person needs to have it just to feel normal.
People start smoking for a variety of different reasons. Some think it looks cool. Others start because their family members or friends smoke. How Smoking Affects Health
Smoking affects health in many ways. Smokers develop yellow teeth and wrinkles. They also suffer loss of bone density, making them prone to osteoporosis, which increases the risk of fractures. Smokers’ athletic performance is also affected as their lung capacity is diminished.

Smoking affects the sexual performance of men and women, and causes fertility problems. Women smokers who use hormone-based birth control methods such as ring, patch or pills, face increased risk of suffering health issues like heart attack.

Smoking is a much bigger problem than anyone really thinks it to be. “Cigarette smoking is responsible for more than 480,000 deaths per year in the United States, including nearly 42,000 deaths resulting from secondhand smoke exposure” (Smoking & Tobacco use). Many people smoke and it is slowly affecting their physical appearance, but along with appearance it is affecting their health too. When people smoke, several problems occur such as throat and or lung cancer, bad breath and yellowing and decaying of teeth. Many people are prone to smoking due to being around smokers.
