Our neighbor,Mexico is very interesting and much more complex than normally think. It has a variety of celebrations and customs.The people of Mexico are fun loving people.It’s beaches and warm temperatures attract tourists each year. One important thing that attracts the tourist to Mexico is its people. They show pride for their country and welcome other people to be part of it. People in Mexico have mouthwatering foods to eat and taste. A favorite food is Chorizo. Chorizo is a type of cooked sausage and in Mexico they add chili peppers on top to give it a spicy flavor. Another favorite food Mexicans eat are empanadas. Empanadas are a type of bread with chicken and vegetables stuffed inside.In every meal, you can usually find corn and beans. In most Mexican dishes there are chili peppers to give the dish a distinctive flavor. One of the most common peppers used in dishes is the jalapeno. The food of Mexico is very unique and fun to taste. In the country of Mexico there are various customs and traditions. One custom in Mexico is to always bring flowers or a gift the first time a person is invited to one’s house. Children don’t really talk about St.Nicholas in Mexico. They wait for “Dia de los Reyes”, or Three Kings Day. This is usually celebrated January 6. Also on September 16, they celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day.On Independence Day, Mexicans go outside at night and yell-“Viva Mexico!” three times in a row, which means-“Long Live Mexico!”. Finally, Cinco De Mayo is celebrated on May 5. It celebrates the victory over the French army. Mexican traditions and customs come from Mexican’s ancestors from long ago. One thing that is different about Mexican fighting is it’s way of showing pride. The boxers show their pride by they're fighting moves and actions. Mexico takes pride in the sports they play. Mexico is an interesting country to visit and learn about. It’s diverse customs are fascinating and engaging. The people in Mexico and the country itself have very many activities, events,celebrations and history that make it fun to learn about.

I am going to tell you about a famous, yet kinda eerie celebration that takes place in mexico. This is a tradition celebrated by the Mexican Natives, most Mexican Americans (including myself) don’t even acknowledge this day, unless they happen to be visiting mexico at the time of this event.

Most items were served with refried beans and rice. Beans and rice are very common in everyday meals in Spanish cultures because they are fairly cheap and readily available. The rice that was served at Cactus was not a typical white rice most people are used to eating, it was Spanish rice. Spanish rice has a light tomato sauce and several different spices in it. Another thing that was included in many of the entrées were pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream. Pico de gallo is a fresh salsa, made with tomatoes, onions, peppers, and a few herbs. The guacamole and sour cream are served on the side as a cooling agent. Mexican dishes are typically spicy, as they have many different types of peppers in them, so a cooling agent is typically served on the side. Another very common ingredient found in several of the entrées was tortillas. Prior to my meal being served, our waiter brought us a bowl of freshly made tortilla chips and salsa. There were two different types of salsa served, a mild and a hot. As I mentioned earlier, Mexican dishes tend to have a lot of different peppers and spices in them, so the mild salsa is served for those whom are not accustom to the spicy peppers. When my meal, Taquitos Mexicanos, arrived at my table it contained the very common ingredients I had mentioned above. As a land of great Indian civilizations, Mexico also offers beautiful ruins as fascinating as the ones in Greece. Mexico borders the United States, Guatemala, and Belize. It shares a seaside border with Cuba and Honduras. “Mexico is at once the most ancient and most modern country in Latin America”(Reilly 3) Mexico has a wonderful geography, a temperate climate, a social government, a growing economy, diverse culture, and interesting facts you can learn about.
With a population of 96 million people and over 762,000 square miles of land, Mexico is a country filled with lots of joy and festivities. It is home to many great leaders, and to many chicanos around the world who have inspired us by their work. However, Mexico is not all sunshine and rainbows. They have faced many issues and they are still currently facing many. Then again, which country is not facing issues, whether it is economical or climate challenges. It would take a very long time to name all of the issues that Mexico faced, so I will only be naming the ones from 1990 up until present day.

As for some traditions, celebration of the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos). Day of the Dead is a version of the widespread Roman Catholic feast of All Saints’ and all Souls’ Days. This day is celebrated on November 1 and 2, this day is to not to weep, but to celebrate love ones and welcome them back. Some custom that are done that day are the making of sugar skulls and gifts or offering, which are meant to attract the dead. These offering are used to help the dead find their way back to their loved ones on earth. As for religion in Mexico, a majority of the people are Catholic and some Christian but Catholic is the most dominate religion in Mexico. As for the United States as a whole its very diverse. We have people who are Muslim, Catholic, Christian, Buddhism, Jewish, and more. Like religion in India, the United States are somewhat different in terms of the diversity of religious
