Before I entered this course, I always thought that fasting is all about food related. And that the forty hour famine from world vision, was only the true way to fast. I guess its more of a commitment and sacrifice, and that those people who did it, will have blessings poured on them. But, I think that anyone who fasts for God, will be blessed, not matter how long or different they fast, God is pleased.
In the Old Testament a man of God named Daniel, is a perfect example in history who fast. In Daniel 1:8, he did not want to eat the king 's food, he knew that it will defile him. So he ask for a test, that Daniel and his companions, are to eat only vegetables and water to drink. While the servants eat the kings food, both do this for ten days,

But I have fast during in my room, I would lock my door, and keep all the noise, busyness of life, and food. So I would pray and read the bible, at times I would do this intentional, but not all the time. I have also fast from chocolates and sweets for a week, I felt much healthy inside. I have not experienced fasting with other people, or a corporate way. But I heard and seen what It would look like, I 'm guessing with more the people, there is more encouragement to fast. It also does help to fast longer, or to do it continuously with more the people around. It would be fun in a way, and much more rewarding with a group of people you …show more content…
But to fast in a time to reach to God closer, to open more for the Holy Spirit to fill. At times we don’t need to fast the good food, but junk food. If we fast from the bad foods, and eat of the good, our bodies are in healthier state, and our bodies will be a healthy temple for the Holy Spirit. Fasting helps for prayer and meditation, it helps not to be controlled by the flesh, which is your sinful nature. It 's also a part of repentance and confession of sins, and God will minister to you in a powerful way.
In God 's awesome power, he will always transform you, fasting is a good way to receive, and open to him. Fasting doesn’t always need to have avoidance with food, it can be things that are stopping us from the walk of God. Everyone has so many different weakness in life, that we just need to avoid. The devil use these weakness in our lives and gives us temptation, which can lead to sin. Therefore if we fast the things we know that the devil can use against us, that will lead us to sin, we need to fast from it. By doing so, it gives us room for God to work in our lives, giving us grace, mercy, room for the Holy Spirit to help us. It will makes us closer to do God 's will on our lives, instead of the cycle of sin, we can break free from

Whereas, Frenkiel’s younger brother Chaim explained to reporters why he did not fast this year. “If I decided to fast this year that would mean thanking God for putting me through this hell”, he describes, “and honestly
Throughout time, food has always played a large role in every day life. One aspect of life that food really plays a large role in is religious life. It is important to recognize that the first commandment that God gave to us was a restriction on eating. Many religions have dietary laws or restrictions that explain to the people of their religion what they can and cannot eat. The first commandments that God gave to us were related to eating. In the Bible, we see the Mosaic dietary laws. These laws were set and regulated by Moses, as explained by God’s law. The Old Testament is full of restrictions regarding food consumption and what types of foods should not be consumed. I will be further examining the Mosaic dietary laws and the role they continue to play in the modern-day and in many people lives.
Many people believe that fasting is not recommended. That is a false notion to many because they believe that fasting will affect the concentration of a person when one is hungry. This might be true at the beginning but in long run it does not. It has been proven that those people who adopt a serious program of fasting improve their attention, concentration span, focusness and alertness.
The Mosaic dietary laws, the laws imposed by the directives of Moses on the Israelites, extended from earlier restrictions that had been placed on the eating habits of the human race. The Old Testament is full of directives regarding food consumption and God’s law, and even Genesis addresses limitations imposed on certain types of food consumption.
...ons believe in fasting as stated in the holy books. Both Holy books state that followers should pray to God and Allah for it is considered holy and right (Jaoudi, 7).

There is substantial evidence that supports the efficacy of individual and group CBT in treating binge eating disorder (“Part A,” 2006). The CBT approach for binge eating disorder is active and directive. At the cognitive level individuals in CBT are taught to identify, test, and correct their faulty cognitions. Behavioral strategies in CBT for binge eating include monitoring binge patterns, educating the individual, and introducing incompatible activities (Parrott, 1998). One study assessed the long-term efficacy of CBT in the treatment of binge eating disorder. They assessed a sample of 68 patients with binge eating disorder and a substantial reduction of binge eating was observed during treatment. There was a decline at the three-year follow-up and at the four, five, and six-year follow up there was a slight worsening of binge eating was observed in the individuals (Ricca, Mannucci, Zucchi, Rotella, & Faravelli, 2000). Other psychosocial therapies that show efficacy in the treatment for binge eating disorder are interpersonal therapy (IPT) and dialectical behavior therapy. There is evidence that both of these therapies are effective in the improvement of behavioral and psychological symptom (“Part A,” 2006).
Healthy diet, according to “CDC-Dietary guidelines for Americans 2010, diet which emphasizes eating foods rich in fiber, potassium, vitamin-D, calcium such as beans, eggs, vegetables, fruits, nuts and low fat milk and milk products, and also Low in saturated fats, cholesterol, trans-fat, salt and added sugars, within a day calorie need”. Some things fasting can help with reduced inflammation, oxidative damage, boost the energy metabolism, and give more cellular protection.
Although I am not super active within my social medias, I am constantly checking them. I have begun to see the way that this creates an unspoken comparison of my life and the lives of people I am connected with. There is a certain amount of energy and attention that I am putting into my social media accounts that could be better used in different areas of my life. It is difficult to find a balance of what is the right way to fast electronics and social media when it feels like it is such a prominent part of society. So my plan of fasting is going to look little bit different than a normal fast. I plan to only use social media on the week days after 12pm. I feel like this will allow me to spend the first part of my day focused on my time with God and starting my day directing my attention towards Him rather then the world. I also want to completely fast all social media on Sundays to keep this day sacred before the Lord and not put social media before
If a person is hungry and running late or on a budget they will most likely stop at a fast food restaurant to grab a bite to eat. This is not unusual as majority of the human population eats at some type of fast food restaurant, whether it be McDonalds, Arby’s, Burger King or Taco Bell. These food places are quite common because the food is cheap, fast and easily accessible. However even though they may be beneficial in some aspects, they can effect a person’s lifestyle and cause them minor and major health problems. Causes for this unhealthy habit can be either learned or because it is the only option for some. There are many causes for this bad habit that can be fixed with just a bit of effort and knowledge of the habit’s effects on one’s health.
