The thought might run across your head, what is exactly is country music anyways. According to Dictioray.com country music is defined as “a style and genre of largely string-accompanied American popular music having roots in the folk music of the Southeast and cowboy music of the West, usually vocalized generally simple in form and harmony, and typified by romantic or melancholy ballads accompanied by acoustic or electric guitar, banjo, violin, and harmonica.” Everyone has their different imputation of country music. Most of the time the generation of when someone plays a huge role on which era, he or she likes the best. For instant, if someone were raised in the 1950s they would more than likely prefer Hank Williams over Luke Bryan. This is not true is all cases though. Everyone is different that is why not all of one generation like the same music. Country music has not changed drastically over time. The only things that have changed are the rhythm of the music and how clarification of the singing. Country artist still sing about the same thing for the most part. The reason why the lyrics do not sound similar is that the world is a different place than it was back in the 1920s. The lyrics in the artist’s songs are about life which life changed each decade. Country music has changed very little over time. The ‘old’ country music is more soothing and peaceful while the ‘new’ country music is more up to beat which makes you want to get up and start dancing. The lyrics that the artist sing are pretty much the same topic. When it comes to actual singing the arists back in the 20s were more clear with their words than today’s country
