1. Begin by describing why you wish to be part of the publications department. In your answer, please discuss what you specifically have to offer to the publications department.
2. Discuss what the word “Deadline” means to you. In your answer, please honestly describe yourself when it comes to meeting deadlines.
A deadline is set in stone. Deadlines are usually flexible, but I believe that one must treat a deadline with the utmost importance simply because in the “real world,” deadlines are absolute. It is best to comply with the original deadline because if one cannot complete their tasks by that date, they learn important life skills such as time management and punctuality. Not to mention that not having work completed by the assigned time could have devastating effects such as lowered grades and sloppy work ethic as well as the loss of a job in the “real world.” In regards to myself, I believe that I meet the required deadlines a majority of the time. I tend to prioritize my work accordingly, and if I need to set aside work for one class to complete an assignment for another, I will do so.
3. What is your definition of a team player?
A team player is a person who can carry their own weight in work load but is also empathetic to the wants and feelings of others. A team player can get their work done on time. They are reliable and independent. However, a team player must be willing to work with their team. They must realize that their team needs them, but that they are no more important than anyone else. A team player is not required to be best friends with their teammates, but they must respect the people on their team. Team players work for the good of the team itself by being productive, offering support if needed, and offerin...

7. How easy/difficult is it for you to leave your “personal business” at the door?
That depends on the type of business. Everybody has bad days and of course it’s difficult as human beings to forget emotions and focus. However, I feel like I am moderately capable of functioning during school with personal business. Things such as stress, workload, exhaustion, and bad days in general are hard to leave behind simply because they are all internal conflicts. But leaving behind external conflicts such as problems with family or another student is easily done for me.
8. What else would you like us to know about you?
9. How do you feel about staying after school to complete your assigned work if you do not finish it during class?

Hesiod’s Theogony and the Babylonian Enuma Elish are both myths that begin as creation myths, explaining how the universe and, later on, humans came to be. These types of myths exist in every culture and, while the account of creation in Hesiod’s Theogony and the Enuma Elish share many similarities, the two myths differ in many ways as well. Both myths begin creation from where the universe is a formless state, from which the primordial gods emerge. The idea of the earth and sky beginning as one and then being separated is also expressed in both myths.
Distinctively visual language and cinematic techniques highlight to the responder the particular literal and metaphorical experiences characters are faced with, within a text. Peter Goldsworthy’s novel Maestro, Don McLean’s song ‘Vincent’ and the intriguing film Australia by Baz Luhrrman, explore the ways in which the human experiences of an individual’s connection to landscape is fundamental in shaping one’s sense of identity, personal growth and development. Composers further explore the realisation that our lives can be enriched by an understanding and appreciation of art as well as a deeper understanding of the importance of love and lust. The depiction of characters is conveyed through distinctively visual images to highlight the subsequent development of courage and resilience leads responders to a deeper understanding of how human experiences can create a sense of individuality.
During the Great Depression, while the competitors were cutting costs and reusing outdated designs, Kress was expanding and building more elaborate stores than their previous ones. The architecture was referred to as an “emporium” evoking an elegant atmosphere more suited to a fine cloth or furniture store in New York rather than the five & dime stores dotting small town America. Many wonder what the driving force was behind these design decisions, especially during a national time of economic recession. Perhaps simply to outpace the competition, but perhaps more importantly Samuel Kress was an avid art collector and a proponent of public art enhancing a community. In this way the Kress legacy of the brand became more than a retail business, it became a symbol of small town civic pride.
Religion’s chief functions include: a system of explanation and justification for morality. Religion in society provides us with a sense of purpose, security, morality, and obedience. This impacts every society because, as Pojman stated, “it legitimizes social mores, morality itself, as well as rituals for the dedication of children, rites of passage, marriage, and the passage from death to the beyond” (Pojman 1). This gives an accurate explanation of the different cultural traditions and views that exist worldwide.
Our belief states are determined by the external factors, for example, perceived complexity and priming ethics is an interesting subject and everyone lives by their thoughts and their ways. Everyone lives by a different code. The difference between morality and ethics is that morality is about primary making the right choices and ethics is proper reasoning. In the essay “The ethics of belief” by W. K. Clifford, he argues that if anything on insufficient evidence, then it’s unethical. In this essay I will remain undecided with what Clifford is trying to say. I agree and disagree with some of his viewpoints. Some I do have to say are unethical and some are reasonable. What Clifford is trying to portray is interesting. Especially since he comes from a religious background. And reading about his new discovery, is quite interesting.
“I’ll do it later this week, I have time” some of the most commonly used words for procrastinators. Individuals who are procrastinators sometimes feel they work best under pressure, giving them a way to self-sooth themselves when facing reality of the work that lies ahead. Many procrastinators have very busy lives, such as working full or part time, others are juggling family life with kids in addition to work. It seems as if finding the balance between their everyday lives while attending school are for many a recipe for disaster. Those who leave work until the last minute are really never able to find the time to accomplish the work. If we take procrastinators for face value we ca...
If someone gave themselves enough time to finish early, they could have time to do something else before another task comes up or they could work on getting ahead. Thinking about the later satisfaction of knowing they did the best you could, and gave enough time to do the best one could do would make them feel better about doing the next task on time. They could be more excited about what they are having to do, even if they have to search for one small thing to enjoy about it. They could see the task as necessary to move onto the next thing as
Do you know the reason why every student dreads the last five minutes of class more than the other seventy? No? Well, it’s quite obvious really; this is the time when homework is assigned. So why does this simple 8-letter word fill us with dread? Simple, if there was ever a more disastrous invention than the American atomic bomb it was homework. This may be defined as work specifically created to be done in the home to keep students from enjoying life outside of school. Hence, I think that it should only be assigned by a teacher in the event that it is no longer possible for students to learn in the classroom. This is further supported by the limited guidance, stress, and time constraints encountered at home.
Like the human body, the ideas that will be discussed in this research paper revolve around food. Food is essential for the human body to function, grow, and survive. In addition to these physiological effects, food has developed culturural purposes, such as, for enjoyment, creation, and profit. The food industry in the United States has taken advantage of food’s purposes of enjoyment, creation, and profit. This advantageous behavior is done so in a way, that has altered the make-up of food; which consequently has altered food’s effect on the human body, no longer giving the human body optimal function, growth, and survival. Overall, the food industry and the alterations of food have not only negatively affected the animals and food used in production, but also the minds and physiology of consumers.
A team player can be associated to any type of profession a person participates. The dictionary defines team players as a number of people associated together in work or activity. Team players are the type of people with a tremendous personality who contribute and motivate themselves in many areas. They include the military, sports, work, and families. However, there are a few things team players are not. Let us explore these aspects closer.
In a team-oriented setting, everyone contributes to how well the group succeeds overall. You work with fellow members of the group to complete the work that needs to be done. Having the right people in the correct roles is an important factor in measuring the success of a team, where you are united with the other members to complete the main goals. Every group is made up of definite strengths and weaknesses. Our team's 3-5 major strengths necessary to work accordingly consist of Informer, Summarizer, Orienter, Piggy-Backer, and Encourager. One of our strengths as a team is that we get input from everyone involved. Every member of our team is a leader in some way. Part of being a good leader is knowing how important it is to receive the best ideas from each member of their team. We attend group meetings where we discuss any challenges, issues, and problems. At these meetings, we often exchange ideas or brainstorm new ones with each other and come up with the best and most creative team solutions as potential answers to those perceived problems.
For me it seems like there is too many tasks to complete and seldom enough time. Effective and efficient time management is something that I have room for improvement on and have great use of. I started by taking a time management survey.
Each member is comfortable in finding their place and can feel a sense of belonging within the team. As a team member, I portrayed the roles of a team player and a researcher. I may not be the brain of the group, but I was very eager to help and became a reliable member that follows-through on tasks to resolve conflicts. Also, I became a researcher too, at some point. I formulated various questions and gathered the information and data from the group. According to Sussex (2013), a researcher “is always asking a question and then finding their own answers.” She also stated in her blog that a team player is someone that the team could rely on because they are eager to help and resolve a conflict in a very calm way. I based my personality as a team member according to her seven types of a well-rounded team member in her blog. Each team member has different tasks to do. In our team, we focused on what the content should be and briefly discussed about the structure of the mind map. My biggest contribution would be completing my task, being creative and being able to contribute purposeful ideas to the team. Through teamwork, I learned to develop my strong points and found a way around to my
Teamwork is defined as, “the process of working collaboratively with a group of people in order to achieve a goal.” (Business Dictionary, n.d.) Ultimately, it provides us with a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of unity amongst each other. It allows us to create healthy relationships, and bond further with our peers, and generally, it’s a necessity for our lives. Teamwork aids us with developing imperative life lessons and skills. It also helps us gain a new perspective, and discover our strengths and weaknesses. Personally, I believe that I work well in a team, and I possess the skills of a good leader. Regardless, some individuals
