What does it mean to make an impact on someone's life? To me, making an impact means to imbue confidence in someone to drive him or her to do something. I believe that we were all created to spread and gain knowledge from each other to bring substance in our own individual lives. Eric Thomas, a phenomenal speaker, educator, author, activist, and minister has made an incredible impact in my life through his motivational speeches.

Emmett Till was born on July 25, 1941 in Chicago Illinois. He went to an all black school, but was taught to treat everyone equally (Death of Emmett Till). Chicago wasn’t as racist as the South, so Emmett was taught to respect everyone at an early age. Till wasn’t close to his father because his mother left Till’s father when he was very young (Vox). Emmett Till never got to know his father because his father was killed because of rape (Vox). He had a rough childhood, and to make things worse, he contracted polio at age six. As he grew older, he outgrew polio and his mother remarried and then left her husband again (Vox). Her ex-husband would threaten Emmett’s mother, and Emmett would have to stand up to her ex-husband (Vox).
No black school was available locally so he was forced to move. He said "Good-bye" to his adopted parents, Susan and Moses, and headed to Newton County in southwest Missouri. Here is where the path of his education began. He studied in a one-room schoolhouse and worked on a farm to pay for it. He ended up, shortly after, moving with another family to Fort Scott in Kansas. In Kansas, he worked as a baker in a kitchen while he attended the High School. He paid for his schooling with the money he earned from winning bake-off contests. From there he moved all over bouncing from school to school. "College entrance was a struggle again because of racial barriers."2 At the age of thirty he gained acceptance to Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.

He was not raised to be religious, but at a very young age he was attending church every Sunday morning alone. Growing up he had to see his stepfather’s abusive behavior towards both his mother and step-brother. When he was 17 years old and attending school he got an invitation to meet President John F. Kennedy at the White House Rose Garden, that’s when he realized what he wanted his career to be. During the 1992 election, on November 3, he became the forty second president. Clinton’s reputation suffered dramatically from a scandal in his personal life. Although Bill Clinton had an affair while being President, he impacted the United States by eliminating the federal deficit and overseeing the strongest economy, managed to remake the images and operations of the Democratic Party, and reforming welfare and changing the environment.

Most I’ve met throughout my career and by helping them with what at a time in their life was very difficult. I had no idea what to do for a video, since my speech is affected by my disabilities, so in a search for the answer to the topic question, I sent out a mass text message. One person cannot change the World, but I believe that one person can change something in this World. Whether it is within their own community or worldwide, each individual is capable of change. As a young child I have always been a quiet, shy person often distancing myself from everyone around me. It was difficult for me to make friends and connect to people on an emotional level, all I had was my family and a few friends I have known my entire life. Luckily when I was seven years old I began to play basketball, little did I know that an orange basketball would change my life forever. I have met some of my best friends, travelled too amazing places, and gained indescribable knowledge because of basketball. Not only did basketball change my
It's true that we all need to make a difference in times of crisis and need, but we also need to strive to make a difference each day. I know that I can make a difference in the lives of many people by simply lending a helping hand or showing kindness to others. I try to take the time to cheer up my grandmother and older friends in the nursing home by paying them a visit. I know my parents stay very busy and it helps them out when I come home and lend a helping hand without being asked. I can help a friend with their homework, or sometimes help by just being there to listen to them.
I can safely say that hearing the news that my friends and I altered the life for the better of a complete stranger has impacted how I live my daily life as well. Now I treat strangers differently and worry when someone acts out of the ordinary. I can’t imagine what would happen if we hadn’t stopped. I can only imagine if Stacy would even be alive at the moment.
