Many feel that the fast food industry is providing a valuable service by catering to consumer needs; that it is inexpensive and easily accessible. For people who don't have time to prepare meals, for households in which both parents work, there's no question it provides a service. But what is the true cost of this convenience? In the book, Fast Food Nation, Eric Schlosser reveals that the cost is the lives of the people who work in the meat processing plants. Meat packing is now the most dangerous job in the United States.
The men and women who work in the slaughterhouses are often low paid, poor immigrants, who have not completely learned English and are practically illiterate. These workers make a knife cut every two or three seconds, which adds up to about 10,000 cuts per eight hour day. One of the leading causes of the high injury rate in the slaughter houses is the speed at which the meat is disassembled. Hearing this, it is no surprise that lacerations are the most common injuries suffered by the men and women working in the meatpacking industry.

The growth of fast food is too fast for our voices to be heard and fast food had implemented too much innovation in agriculture today for us to fix. Many people do not realize that the jobs in the fast food industry are very dangerous. These are the jobs that no one realizes what it’s like behind the scenes. The workers face high rates of injury in the factories and in fast food restaurants, so we feel like we shouldn’t support the fast food industries. In his book "Fast Food Nation" Eric Schlosser is not chiefly interested in the consumption of fast food, but his primary objective is to explore manufacturing starting with the unemployment. His book deals with United States politics and raises many social issues.
The moral conflicts put aside, the process of genetic engineering is difficult. Changing the proteins in people’s body differently is an unnatural action. Scientists state that genetic engineering only works 50% of the time. Also, when a new gene is placed in the gene code, there will be various mutations that will definitely result in change but may not be for the better.
In today’s modern time, college and universities are competitive and impacted; a lot of students work hard and compete to attend the best. Nowadays, high GPA and grades are not the only important factor that college and universities look for, but being an all-around student who is involved with volunteer work, campus clubs, and sports. Many students take the easy route and turn to clubs or bigger social organizations such as the Greek life. Unlike the average clubs or student organizations participating in a fraternity and sorority is a lifetime affiliation and students are only allowed to be committed to one. These social/cultural groups are filled with members who share similar values and interests that can also offer a college life experience, good or bad.
