Attention getter: As an equine science major, I am going to talk about a topic that relates to my career goals (equine=horses). Many people like to think that going into an animal field will keep them from dealing with public relations as much as a professional job does, but that is far from the truth.
State Your Topic: Today, I will be discussing communication skills for a barn manager that aids in resolving conflict.
Importance to Audience: Communication skills are something that we all need to use in a professional setting. Many different skills are used to avoid conflict. A simple communication skill such as listening can be one factor in removing conflict between yourself and your co-worker.

E. She mentions that job responsibility of a barn manager is that they need to know how to listen, deal with conflict and resolve problems.
F. Communication abilities concerning customer relations can make or break your business, and definitely has an impact on horse care and customer service with the boarders and others who visit your facility.
Transition: As you can now can see, barn managers do need communications skills. Let’s focus on one of the major skills a barn manager needs: conflict resolution. Why would they need this skill?

The veterinary field is one that has different types of work associated with it. For instance, one may take samples and the other would do x-rays. I have always wanted to become a vet tech because i have always grown up around animals and grown to love them. It would be a great opportunity to wake up everyday and do what i love. It seems like it would be a great choice for me because my heart is for animals. I have always loved animals and it would break my heart to see them hurt so this would be a great job that will suit me in many ways and i know i would enjoy working there. There isn 't anything that i wouldn 't want to do besides work on animals. In this speech, i will outline the job description, preparation and advantages/disadvantages
Interpersonal conflict is very common with many relationships. It occurs when two people can not meet in the middle or agree on a discussion. Cooperation is key to maintaining a healthy debate. More frequently; when dealing with members of your own family, issues arise that include conflict and resolution. During this process our true conflict management style appears “out of thin air”. (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191).

Theoretical According to listening expert and researcher Dr. Ralph Nichols, "The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood. The best way to understand people is to listen to them”. Listening, as Nichols points out, is both necessary and an integral aspect of the communication process and is one of the most important skills one can acquire. Although critically important in everyday and professional affairs, the specific skill of effectively listening unfortunately is lacking in most people.

Every business consists of a variety of communication activities such as listening, speaking, questioning, gathering and participating in small work groups. The listening skill is one of the most important aspects of communication process. It helps to understand and read the other person’s message. Effective listening skills create positive workplace relationships which influence our opinions and responsiveness to one another.
The purpose of this paper is not to teach you, or to show you how interpersonal communication is essential to everyday life at home or work. But, I am going to do my best to at least show you how essential communication skills are in all areas of life by using me as the example. My plan is to focus on some of the elements of interpersonal communication that we have been touching on this semester. While reading our Interpersonal Communications Book, three goals kept being highlighted that I personally wanted to accomplish by the end of course. I’m sure that by now have noticed that I keep referring to my topics as goals. The reason why I’m doing so is because I’m still on that learning curve…an ongoing process.
