Introduction
As an aspiring entrepreneur, I realize that businesses face many issues and challenges. Where there are issues and challenges, there are risks. With this being a small business management class I’d like to put a twist on this essay and view the challenges and risks from an entrepreneurial perspective. As a 26 year old woman, I struggle with the fear of not being successful in the long run. I am slowly replacing the fear that I have with courage, perseverance, and ambition. I decided to go back to school for my Master’s degree to increase my chances of being successful. Along my journey thus far, I’ve learned that in the end, the Master’s degree will not define me, I will define the Master’s degree. I do not believe that there is an existing position that fits the mold for what I want to become. Henceforth, I’ve recently been

It presents the risk of having to walk away from the security of a job, and the challenge to create something new and innovative. One of the biggest risks faced by entrepreneurs is financial risk. Majority of first-time entrepreneurs do not have enough money to start their business so they receive funding from banks. Another risk faced by entrepreneurs is market risks. I personally believe that this is the biggest risk factor to consider before launching a business. As an entrepreneur, I must know my product and my consumer. If my consumer does not demand my product, there will not be a profit. It is imperative that I do my research and be able to clearly articulate how my business fits within the demand of my consumer. The last risk that I will discuss is team risk. I understand that I cannot run an entire business by myself. I have to create a great team that will help me prepare to vanquish every challenge and risk that I face. It is also important that I invest in people that will instill a sense of confidence in my business to help it to flourish and withstand the
The theme that has been attached to this story is directly relevant to it as depicted by the anonymous letters which the main character is busy writing secretly based on gossip and distributing them to the different houses. Considering that people have an impression of her being a good woman who is quiet and peaceful, it becomes completely unbecoming that she instead engages in very abnormal behavior. What makes it even more terrible is the fact that she uses gossip as the premise for her to propagate her hate messages not only in a single household but across the many different households in the estate where she stays.
...ks at the marriage sacrament as a misery, however is still looking for her sixth husband. I feel Chaucer is showing how important the Wife of Bath needs a man in her life not only to control but also for her own personal fulfillment. Chaucer uses the female characters to show the type of lady that was trying to change her status but inside felt the same womanly feelings and emotions as any other. Although she wants to be in control over her husbands she realizes the importance of them in her life but is reluctant to emit this. Chaucer uses her clothes to show her strong-minded character. He takes the female gender and combines real character traits of most women a long with some more uncommon traits and places them in the female characters of this tale. The female charters Chaucer portrays help shape his texts whole message as well as opinions about this gender.

In the prologue, she mostly deals with her failed marriages and her knowledge in relationships between the sexes. In all, she has a strong desire to be above men and dominate them. Her actions in the prologue are legendary for anti feminists. She wears expensive clothes, ten pounds of cloth on her head, a large hat and a scarlet red dress. She learns that it is very important for a woman to satisfy her man, and she knows how to act to make him obedient and less powerful. As an example, the Wife of Bath fakes being murdered by her fifth husband to make him sorry for beating her and to get authority over him. Before the funeral of her fourth husband, she was previously married three times to old wealthy men who treated her well. The trend of old and wealthy switched to young and difficult with in her last two marriages. The last husband was violent, and his hands on approach to the relationship ended up being his downfall.
In this case study I chose to research and analyse the success and innovative practise of the retail web phenomenon Nasty Gal. I chose this company as I found it to be one of the most successful online-destinations for millennials today, and wasn’t just a company out there to make money, but to genuinely benefit their customer, and give them an experience that will make them wanting more?
In the documentary “Call of the Entrepreneur,” three successful entrepreneurs, Brad Morgan, Frank Hanna, and Jimmy Lai, are presented to explain their views on entrepreneurship and in turn leadership. Brad Morgan is the owner of a million dollar dairy and compost company, Frank Hanna is a merchant banker in New York City, and Jimmy Lai is the founder of Giordano department stores and Next Media. A central theme of the documentary is how each of these businessmen displays the characteristics of persistence, patience, and perseverance to overcome frustrating obstacles and become successful. The film defines entrepreneurship and explains how the entrepreneur responds positively to consumer demands and is able to organize and direct others toward a goal only the entrepreneur can see. The film shows that though some entrepreneurs are driven by greed and some are not, the ones that are successful are answering the needs of consumers.
In conclusion "To His Coy Mistress" contains a sexual theme. He uses the "marble vault" and points towards death to scare and win the young lady over. In the 21st Century men use the same tactics as well. This shows that the people were not much different from today.
Risk may be internal or external and in a variety of forms. An external risk for example may be the unemployment rate in that if people are unemployed they do not have disposable cash for desires. Only necessities are purchased and for many cellular service is not a necessity and cannot be afforded without adequate income. An internal risk to the company may be a divisive organizational structure. If various departments in the organization are not in agreement and backing of the new product, this will create internal tension and potentially hinder the success of the product or in this case the
Although small businesses do not make a lot of major deals with large investors, most small businesses create profit revenue greater than large corporations. Small business creators are very brave considering only ten percent of small businesses survive. Unfortunately, some communities do not support local small businesses; they only support the large brand name and force small businesses to die out. Since small businesses will not have a name brand known around the world, many people from communities will not support them because they are not known on a national scale. “This, in turn will affect the local economy and drive capital out of their local economy. On average, for every one hundred dollars spent in an economy, if spent on a
...ces them outside of the normal perception of society. They both are seen as non-conventional or troublesome women, Vivie for her distance from traditional interest in romance and art, and Mrs. Warren for her moral choices in profession, and as such are treated as other from the more traditionally set men in the play, who question each woman’s value. The interesting fact of this though, is that they both look down upon each other – instead of bonding over their rejection of societal expectations in unique ways, they stigmatize each other in a imbalanced relationship, not only alienating themselves from societal norms in the process, but also from each other.
Throughout this course, I have gained knowledge to help me gain a higher chance of success within my life. Through class discussions as well as the required text, Servant Leadership, I have been able to increase my comprehension regarding entrepreneurial thinking. In order to utilize my new found understanding, I must therefore apply the knowledge to my current path, which is set to lead me down a road with stops at law school as well as the Peace Corps. Furthermore, in order to properly walk such a path, I must also address my strengths and opportunities that have the ability to give me a competitive advantage within the job market. As I have weaknesses and threats to consider too, I must set forth a plan that will properly utilize and prepare
Venture capital is an equity source of finance to entrepreneur and SME’s. Venture capitalist are financial institutions that invest massively in young businesses with a high growth potential. Most of their investments are very risky and at the same time very profitable, if successful. Venture Capitalist are financial intermediaries that is, they invest the money of other individuals or organizations. Not their own money. This is why they usually require to own part of the company so that they can closely monitor their investments. Another reason is that they generally maximize profit by selling their shares in the firm through Initial Public Offer (IPO). (Markova & Petkovska-Mircevska, 2009, P. 4).
Risk is that voice in the back of your head that is whispering to you on what any of possible possibilities may happen to you when you really want to do something, or buy something, or even begin to even think about something. Then, there's the feeling of outrage that follows, sometimes it is minimal and other times it's gone completely nuclear
The success of a business is greatly dependent on its entrepreneur. An entrepreneur is someone who takes the financial risk of starting and managing a new business venture. In order to be a successful entrepreneur, one must be ready to take a risk and invest one’s own savings into a business. The job requires that the individual be ambitious and committed to working hard in order to achieve the set targets. A successful entrepreneur is able to multi-task and communicates effectively with people, possessing leadership qualities such as confidence and motivation. The individual must play the role of constant motivator and inspire employees to improve their work performance, whilst ensuring a comfortable environment for the employees to work in. According to Schumpeter (1982), an entrepreneur is more of a ‘heroic’ than an ‘economic’ figure; his motivation should not solely be monetary, rather stemming more from inspiration and ambition.
We learned a lot of things in this course, but I think the most important lesson I learned is that it’s not easy to be an entrepreneur. I was surprised to hear in the first class that 80% of startups fail, but after reading The Art of Start and E-myth Revisited I understood why this happens more often than one might expects. Some people start their own businesses for the wrong reason and some start with wrong mindset. I’ve always thought that if someone has a brilliant business idea and hardworking they will succeed and grow their business. However, now I know that there are many things to consider before starting any business. In fact, there are many strategies that an entrepreneur could follow to achieve success, such as know your customers, work “on” the business, and how
