Engineering is one of the more respected college degrees in the work force in society today. There are many reasons why engineering has earned so much respect and it can all be attributed to the hard work, dedication, time, and attitude of the engineers. Being an engineer is more than just being the smartest guy or girl in the room. To be a successful engineer, one has to learn how to deal with failure and accept failure but strive to improve next time. A successful engineer will not give up, even when things get hard and seem impossible, engineers always push and aim for success. But success is more than just being smart in class and earning a high paying job as an engineer. Success is achieving goals set for yourself and not stopping until those specific goals are accomplished. Setting goals that are reasonable but also goals that will bring the best possible outcome for studying engineering. The first chapter emphasizes setting time aside to study and be efficient and get work done. There are many distractions in society and it can be hard to sit down and focus but this book stresses the importance of studying. And not only studying by yourself, studying in groups with piers, faculty, and even family will help engineers further themselves in their career. Learning how to work with others is one of the eight skills/traits any engineering employer looks for.
