My research topic I’ve chosen to do is “How much energy does it take to dribble a basketball?” My hypothesis is that I think it will take an excel amount of energy to dribble a basketball. Basketball isn’t an easy sport to play. You have to use most of your energy by running back and forth on the court. You have to play defense and offense. Dribbling a basketball is an extra thing to worry about when playing basketball. It takes a tremendous amount of energy to focus on different things at a time. There are two types of energy used when dribbling a basketball. The two energies are kinetic and potential energy. Kinetic energy is how much energy an object has due to its motion. There are five different techniques to dribbling a ball. The five techniques are crossover, spin move, behind-the-back, between-the-legs, and between-the-legs followed by behind-the-back. The crossover is when you go to the direction to what hand yours is dribbling and then change direction and switch hands on dribbling. The spin move is when you change directions by pivoting your inside foot and it forms a reverse pivot. Behind-the-back is changing directions and dribbling the ball behind your back. Between-the-legs is when you switch hands and dribble between your legs. Between-the-legs followed by behind-the-back is just dribbling between your legs and then dribbling behind your back.
The conclusion for “How much energy does it take to dribble a basketball?” is it takes an abundant amount of energy. My hypothesis was correct because basketball is all about running back and forth and ball handling. There are two types of energy when playing basketball; kinetic and potential energy. The ball will eventually stop bouncing, but the players has to use energy to keep the ball bouncing. Basketball isn’t an easy sport to play. You have to have a lot of energy and be in shape to play.
