A video entitled “Empathy in the digital age” is presented by Katri Saarikivi. In the video, she tries to let us know that the most important survival skill in the digital age is collaboration which incorporates with empathy as empathy is the roots of it. According to Manney (2008), if empathy does not exist, conflict will breed. Hence, empathy is an essential skill. We should be empathetic and collaborative enough in this multitude of the high-technology world so as to ensure that the conflict can be deterred. The evaluation criteria are the delivery of the messages, choices of topic and subtopics, and the content of her talk. At the same time, there are several strengths and weaknesses in each of the evaluation criteria chosen.

If we do not have empathy or not being empathetic enough, I think the advancement in technology will slowly ruin our life. Therefore, I believe with the aid of empathy; we can collaborate which will eventually benefit us in the digital age.
This talk is tried to signal us that collaboration is the survival tool in the digital age and to collaborate, we need to bring in the empathy. According to Douglas (2010), it is the digital technologies which incorporate with our cooperation that will aid in shaping our world. Hence, I think we should be collaborative enough in order to survive and live peacefully in our life, but with the empathy for certain.
Moreover, empathy and technology are both sharing the same significant role. According to Manney (2008), empathy and technology are inextricably linked and are evolutionary adaptations for our survival. In my own perspective, technology can both create and destroy empathy. If we utilize technology to destroy empathy instead, we are just committing suicide because empathy and technology should be together all the time. Both are also the best route for our survival.
