On the first day of presentations Shawna was the first to present. I must say that she had a very well-made PowerPoint. During her presentation she was able to speak loud and clear. Her presentation was very in depth on her topic and it was evident she put a lot time into researching her topic. Her presentation was one out of three of my favorite presentations from the first day due to her being prepared and well spoken. Karishma's presentation was very well done and organized. I liked her use of questions during the presentation since it was a good way of grabbing the audience's attention. Throughout her presentation she was very well spoken. Something else that I liked was her use of an outline at the start of the presentation in order …show more content…
As was expected from Reggie, his presentation was very well researched. I liked his use of maps during his presentation as it helped keep it interesting. He was very well spoken, and he spoke loudly and clearly. He had maintained very good eye contact throughout his presentation. His use of quotes during his presentation made his presentation very interesting and powerful. Emily Laver's presentation had very interesting facts. She maintained good eye contact throughout her presentation. It was apparent that she was very knowledgeable on her topic and that it was a topic that she felt truly passionate about. Throughout her presentation she was very well spoken. This presentation was very thought provoking on the horrors that women had to go through in the Holocaust. Sean's presentation was another one of my favorite presentations from the first day of presentations. He did use an outline during his presentation which helped structure his presentation. It was obvious to me that he was very well organized while presenting. His PowerPoint was also very well made. During his presentation he did speak loudly. Listening to his presentation, it was apparent that he was very knowledgeable on his topic. Along with Emily Laver's presentation, this presentation was very thought provoking on the enforcement of youth having to join the Hitler …show more content…
However, I do feel that he looked at his slides more than he did the audience. Another critic I have about his presentation is that I feel that he could have spoken a bit more loudly. Emily Black's presentation was very well done and it was another one of my favorite presentations from the second day of presentations. Throughout her presentation she was very well spoken. She faced the audience and made eye contact. She seemed very knowledgeable on her topic. She had a good use of pictures during her presentation. Something that I liked about her presentation was that she mainly used pictures and not typed out words. Marks presentation was another one of my favorite presentations from the second day of presentations and quite possibly my favorite overall. He spoke loudly throughout his presentation. Something about the way he spoke and presented his PowerPoint, really got you interested. During his presentation he faced the audience and made eye contact. I liked his comparison of the Nazi form of government to the US form of government. Like Nikki he did not have to rely on his PowerPoint which is very impressive to
Although it was not the best, she got the attention she wanted from the audience. She would soon serve an important role for the whole country and they already were interested in what she had to say. She maintained constant eye contact with her audience and at times looked down at her outline to keep herself on track and possibly to stay in the time frame she was given. Her voice was strong at times though it seemed the strong emotions she had at the moment interfered with the delivery of the speech. She would sometimes lose her breath and at other times she would talk extremely slow both which distracted from what she was saying. She showed much enthusiasm about her nomination stating how humbled she felt for being considered. Lastly, while Sotomayor did get her message across she sometimes sounded monotone and she moved little. When she was giving her speech she hardly moved and she sounded and looked almost like a robot, however her job did not entitle giving speeches rather it consisted of making decision and standing by them which is the domineer she
Through all the different appeals he makes a successful argument for declaring was. He makes many statements that could have only been made by someone who really knew what was going on. With all the facts, he proves that he does know what he is talking about and that everyone should believe him. This speech gave just the right amount of information to be able to let people know what was going on without too much detail that may confuse them.
My thoughts on whose Susan Cain’s speech she was humorous, seemed sympathetic, and trustworthy. I believed and visualized her thoughts on being an introvert. She sounded passionate but not overdoing it, more subtle in a
seemed to enjoy the speech. Homer Hickam mostly talked about his book Rocket Boys from
I could understand everything perfectly as she did her introduction. I could tell she was nervous because she stumbled upon a few words but she took her time and spoke very calmly and had great pronunciation and barely looked at the index cards in her hands. She had a smile on her face the whole time she was doing her presentation. She didn’t take full credit, she stated her citation of where she got the ingredience from. She talked about herself and her love for baking and how she thought her audience would benefit from her video.
Her slow yet concise way of speaking, coupled with easy to follow transitions allowed for a speech that was enjoyable to listen to. Her use of examples from her personal life allowed her audience to get a picture of who she was if they did not know, and allowed her to better relate to them by provided examples of how she is related to the college they are graduating from. Her reference to many modern political problems allowed her to bring up her important role as an activist and facilitated further understanding from the audience. While some areas of her speech were weak, such as the longer than needed pauses and her lack of consistent eye contact, to a few points where she didn’t speak clearly enough, the overall picture that was her speech was fairly strong. Looking at this speech, I hope to incorporate some aspects that I failed to include in my previous speeches. Some of these include her use of hand gestures to emphasize and exaggerate certain phrases and topics, and her combined use of appeals. While my initial thoughts going in were “This is boring” and “This is too slow”, it evolved into me wanting to hear more, and overall my defeat in the beginning turned into a victory at the
He kept a consistent energy high throughout his whole speech, keeping a hold of his audience. He uses several parallel language throughout his speech, For example, “ ...they must be found, they must be pursued, and they must be defeated.” With the parallel language, he also uses several antithesis throughout his speech. For example, “ If there is a senior citizen somewhere who can’t pay for their prescription drug and having to chose between paying the medicine or the rent, it makes my life poor even if it’s not my grandparent.” When he takes somebody else struggle and care about it, he makes it very memorable because he chose to care even if it does not physically affect him. He was able to make his speech diverse and it is not something that is heard
...t orator and rhetor, his ability to integrate emotion into fact and still have facts exist as true and unbiased. As a result of the heavy factual details, his logos in this speech was excellent.
Now, Ellen DeGeneres does not live in fear because everything turned out for the better. She can still use ethos to prove to everyone that she is a down right awesome celebrity. She can use pathos to explain her life to us and to tell us it’s not easy to get where you want to go but you’ll eventually get there. Her speech was definitely effective because she caught my attention. She worded everything to make the graduates feel like they have lived her life with her. And she went from comedic to serious in a great way that changed the tone to a great speech.
She used humor occasionally but it wasn't usually relevant to the actual speech. There was no use of visual aids which was fine because it did not really require any. Moving on, she discussed the things that have worked for her like making schedules and being persistent. In doing so, she related it back on how one could use her examples in order to become more efficient. She used many hand gestures which helped us concentrate on her message more effectively.
He did not mess up on words and seemed genuinely focused on the task at hand. His tone was serious and not off track, regardless if the speech was right in front of his face, he was able to keep the focus on the
However, I did notice that there were a few faults in the presentation, one being a fault that I personally consider may have negatively impacted our presentation. It seems to me that I was not able to deliver the presentation to the best of my ability as I had let my nerves get the best of me when talking to the staff. The reason for this was that I was not comfortable with taking on the speaking role that I was given and that there were last minute changes made to my slides right before presenting. Bruner, (1996) stated that the learning process for staff relies on the “meaningful dialogue” that is presented by the presenters. In this case, I think that my speech was not strong enough to grab the audience’s attention, thus not being able to portray my message about what an Ofsted inspection is and what the results from an Ofsted inspection mean. Nevertheless, although I was not able to present to the quality that I had wished, the feedback received was reassuring that I had not done terribly bad. I was able to see myself grow as a presenter as I noticed that my
What made Amy Cuddy speech so effective was her delivery to the audience during her TED Talk. Amy was very articulate with her verbal projection because she never stumble on words or took long pauses in between her connections of ideas on the topics. Also, the viewer or an audience member could tell that Cuddy took time to
I thought that the speech was organized in a good order and you could tell he spent a sufficient amount of time preparing his speech. The language he used was appropriate and he explained any abbreviations he used before he used them. He did however lack humor in the speech but his topic didn’t really call for humor so it was acceptable for this
In addition to his speech being not only empowering but humorously rewarding, it was also well organized. Second Main Point: Organization Subpoint A. Topical: Topics connect to the values that are being honored. Subpoint B. Chronological: The stories and reminiscing begin from early high school years to present day and end looking into the
