Ever since the introduction of the electric car, many people have been wondering if they should replace their gas tanks with a spark plug. The standard vehicle accelerates along the highway by igniting fossil fuels, which are subsequently emitted as carbon dioxide—a naturally occurring gas that possesses the capacity to significantly retain heat when present in large volumes. The accumulation of such gases can amplify atmospheric temperatures, potentially inducing climate change and adversely affecting numerous species adapted to stable environmental conditions. In contrast, electric vehicles offer a sustainable alternative as they operate independently of fossil fuels and thereby eliminate the need for exhaust emissions. However, the question …show more content…
In their analysis of variance, they show that individuals who purchased an electric car have much more automobiles per home than those who purchased a conventional car. Nearly half of all automobile buyers own only one vehicle per family, 44.5% own two, and only 6.1% own more than two. Only 9.5% of electric car buyers use it as their sole vehicle, whereas 75.7% own two automobiles per household and 14.9% own more than two. On the other hand, owners who own only electric vehicles typically exhibit reduced annual mileage, a pattern anticipated to continue in the future. One can only surmise as to why this is. It is possible that only people who truly replace a regular car with an electric car reduce their driving, resulting in a positive spillover, and that electric vehicles contain characteristics that limit this (for example, range constraints). People who become car owners by purchasing an electric vehicle, on the other hand, may increase their mileage, though not as much as traditional car owners. Klöckner, …show more content…
By acknowledging and refuting opposing viewpoints, I can demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the topic and enhance the credibility of my own position. This balanced approach shows readers that I have considered various perspectives and have arrived at a well-informed conclusion. Moreover, engaging with counterarguments strengthens my reasoning by forcing myself to critically evaluate and refine my own ideas. Ultimately, a strong argument is one that not only presents a compelling case for your stance, but also anticipates and responds to potential objections. By incorporating counterarguments into my writing, I can effectively demonstrate your ability to consider multiple viewpoints and construct a more convincing and nuanced
Comparing and Contrasting Advertisements Advertisers often use three types of persuasion to sell their products or get their points across. Also known as the three parts of rhetoric, pathos, logos, and ethos are used to persuade or inform the audience. Pathos is the appeal to emotion, ethos is the appeal to ethics or the ethical thing, and logos is the appeal to logic and reason. These three types of persuasion can be very effective depending on the topic of debate and the audience. Two commercials that use these persuasion devices are Geico Insurance and Chevrolet Company.
The topic of the future has been such a popular subject all of the twentieth century, from the idea of flying cars to robots preforming surgeries. One thing that has taken the media by storm is the takeover of electric cars, and if they really are better than the classic gas guzzler. Electric cars are better than gas powered vehicles because of the miles per gallon difference, maintenance cost and environmental effects. Everyone hates when gas prices sky rocket especially during the holiday season when everyone is on the roads commuting from house to house, town to town or even state to state. On average the typical person tends to spend around $2000 on gas alone.
Automobiles play an essential role in American society. As if being the major means of transportation was not impressive enough, automotives can be seen on T.V., in movies, in magazines, and can sometimes be indicative of a person’s wealth and social status. On average, Americans drive nearly 40 miles and drive for just over 50 minutes driving per person per day (http://www.bts.gov). That means a person spends roughly one-sixteenth of a day driving. It would make sense, then, to make such an essential part of society as efficient, cost effective, and clean as possible. However, that is not the case. As the years have passed cars have actually begun to move away from efficiency. Hawken writes, “[The automobile] design process has made cars ever heavier, more complex, and usually costlier. These are all unmistakable signs that automaking has beco...
Did you know that you can receive a maximum of a $7,500 tax credit for just owning an electric or hybrid vehicle? The United States government values citizens that buy fuel efficient vehicles because it gets the United States one step closer to not buying outsourced oil (Jones par.14). Hybrid vehicles are vehicles that are mostly powered by gasoline, but switch over to electric at stop signs or at coasting speeds. Electric cars are cars that are solely powered by electric from start up to shut down (Motavalli par. 6). Most cars and trucks on the road today are powered by gasoline or diesel engines, which are expensive to operate, bad for the environment, and use resources that are non renewable. To achieve better fuel economy, lower operation cost, reduce the pollution on the environment, and operate vehicles with renewable resources, this world needs to take a better look at using alternative fuels to power vehicles. Alternative fuels for motor vehicles are better for the environment, are renewable resource, and are cheaper for consumers.
The tradeoffs of using gasoline for cars are large emission of carbon dioxide and required large amount of chemical t...
As humans delve into the twenty-first century, scientific research continues at an exponentially increasing rate. While the work of researchers seems to affect people in positive ways, the common debate among the general population is whether or not there is a limit to how far scientists can take their research and impact the future of society. The changes that scientists induce upon society often escape foresight, such as diseases, dangerous paints, and other products that do not pass the test of time. One big issue that is fiercely debated is how to go about switching to alternative-fuel-source automobiles, given that the world’s supply of oil will run dry relatively soon. The electric car seems to be the best candidate as a replacement for the moment, but many people are still weary about completely discarding the trusty internal combustion engine for an invention barely as old as the people who will buy them. The electric fuel is promising, but it has not been around long enough to undergo the test of time needed for mass acceptance. Here the more direct question arises: is the electric car the solution to a more economically responsible car?
“What we need to do is really improve energy efficiency standards, develop in full scale renewable and alternative energy and use the one resource we have in abundance, our creativity.” (Lois Capps) There are many ways we can utilize our abundance of creativity. Some have yet to be discovered, but some are being sought out today. One of these is the rise of the electric car. Despite a rough start competing with petroleum cars, electric cars will see a spark in popularity in the automotive market within the next few years with new models being developed and more charge stations being installed world wide. With more efficient ways of harvesting energy, the electric car will see more practical use and make its way into the lives of the average
Imagine that you’re driving on an open highway in the middle of summer. All you see in front of you is asphalt for miles and miles. The windows are down and your favorite song comes on the radio. You’re behind the wheel of a Tesla Model S, the newest electric car that can go from zero to sixty miles per hour in 2.4 seconds. This will soon be the future of all motor vehicles. Electric cars are beginning to have colossal impacts on our society because of their energy efficiency, performance benefits, and the fact that they are less harmful to the environment. In the near future, electric cars will dominate the road and eventually the planet’s overall need for oil will decrease immensely.
The future American commuter will undoubtedly have to transition from the use of fossil fuels to new alternatives due to the diminishing availability of the nation’s oil resources. How will America respond to this upcoming issue? It is difficult to predict which alternative fuel source America will ultimately choose, but with the premier of Nissan’s electric powered Leaf and other companies; such as Tesla Motors and Chevy, with their electric cars ready for market, the electric car may be winning the race to become the new standard for the gasoline alternative. Electric cars resolve long standing environmental issues, but it will need to maneuver around many roadblocks to become a marketable consideration for the general public. The cost of electric cars, currently on the market, makes them an impractical purchase for the average consumer. If cost is not the growing concern in today’s economy which prevents the consumer from considering this option; they may deny the technological advance due to battery storage capabilities and the inadequate infrastructure in place to refuel and provide for them.
Electric Cars Buying a car is usually going to be the first big purchase a person will make in their life. It is actually considered the second biggest purchase, right behind buying a house. Cars can now do things like park themselves and even drive themselves. Electric cars are also a thing that is getting a lot of attention, and studies show that they will be what dominate our streets and highways in the near future. Many people turn to electric cars because they are very efficient in our pockets.
Environmental concerns have been raised from time to time because of the dependency on the gasoline-fueled engine as the chief auto powertrain technology. This has resulted in exposing many automobile users to unpredictable prices of fuel. These issues were, however, the reason for the inception of Tesla Motors so as to bring into existence another set of automotive which serves the similar purpose; but uses another form of energy that being electricity to drive them instead of the disadvantageous gasoline-powered engine. This invention was influenced by a number of factors in terms of their planning and performance (Hunger, 2010).
Most people today fill up their car with different qualities of petrol, because that's what the average car takes. They don't usually consider an alternative for the petrol that they load into their cars. Although petrol is widely used, it is not the only source for a car to get its power from; diesel and electricity are alternatives to the general petrol used by most cars. Although different from each other, diesel and electricity are alternatives to the average gasoline received at a gas station. Diesel is a more concentrated type of fuel that is usually used by big automobiles because they require a lot of power in a little amount of time. Electricity is a method that uses the power of batteries to produce a low horsepower but, nevertheless fast automobile. Electric cars are generally created to be soundless and environment friendly. The purpose of this paper is to classify and educate the reader of the different types of fuel available for an automobile to use: petrol, diesel, and electricity. The general petrol, used by most people, is usually the only type of fuel accepted on the average car in the United States today.
The issue of electric car has been arising nowadays. But many of us never really find a true
There is no doubt that electric cars are the most appealing from of transportation in the world. They provide two of the most important key points of good transportation: reliable and efficient. They are reliable due to their simplicity of their power trains and the advancement of technology they have. They are efficient because they don't use any gasoline and because their motors can pass the zero-emission standard. Even though they may seem like a boring form of transportation, they offer good features that help keep the Earth's air clean and they help reduce pollution.
In this case study I will be discussing advantages and disadvantages of electric cars. Electric cars are cars that are powered by electricity. Electric vehicles are an important part of cutting emissions and reducing global warming. The battery of an electric car stores electrical energy. The electric motor is coupled to the wheels through gears; it converts 59-60% of electrical energy into the wheels. The battery runs the motor which allows the car to move. Electric cars are necessary as they will save money, because electricity is cheaper than gas. Also electric vehicles will help reduce global warming and pollution. However, some people say that electric cars still have environmental costs. The electricity used to recharge EV batteries has to come from somewhere in the world, and now, most electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels. Although electric vehicles are classified as green cars, purists will not appreciate the toxicity of the batteries.
