The enormous Geyser field known as El Tatio can be found in the north of Chile. It is located at a height of 4,320 meters on the western slopes of the Andes Range, near the famous archaeological site of San Pedro de Atacama, situated in the heart of the impressive desert of that same name. El Tatio is considered to be one of the highest geothermal fields in the world, as well as one of the largest. As the dawn starts to lighten the desert sky, enormous fountains of hot vapor and water can be seen emerging from within the ground. The explosive force causes the columns of hot steam to rise several meters high, clearly outlined against the crystal cold air of the “pampa”, as the desert is generally called. There are pools on the surface that show an adequate temperature for human use and one of the attractions for the many tourists that visit all year round, is to bathe in one of these pools after having observed the early morning show of the fumaroles and fountains. However, the area can be dangerous, as the ground around the mouths of the fumaroles is very fragile and if people get too near these pools, the crust can suddenly give way, plunging the unwary into the boiling abys below. Death would be instantaneous, but also probably very painful. The place is not easy to reach, there are no clear indications on road maps, but local guides usually accompany the groups of tourist who leave at about 4.00 AM from San Pedro de Atacama when it is still dark and also very, very cold. The desert does not start to heat up until after the sun
Dia de los reyes magos is on Jan. 5 - Feb. 2 and the day is about the 3 wisemen, But January the 6th is the special day in Mexico….. this day represents the height of the Christmas season. This celebration is where it is stated that the kings, Melchor, Gaspar, and Balthasar, traveled by night all the way from the farthest confines of the Earth to bring gifts to Jesus, whom they recognized as the Son of God. As well as regal, the Three Kings are depicted as wise men, whose very wisdom is proved by their acknowledgement of Christ's divine status. Arrived from three different directions, the kings followed the light provided by the star of Bethlehem, which reportedly lingered over the manger where the Virgin Mary gave birth for many days. In

His expertise may attract an array of readers, both newcomers and old-timers. It seems that his intended audience might be those who share his love of the desert and also those who want to know more. The essay is quasi-organized like an educational brochure or an expert interview with an inveterate desert denizen. An unintended audience of course might include the fledgling environmental activists who were emerging in the 1960s to fight for the protection of wilderness. Because of its focus on natural history, the article and the anthology, Desert Solitaire, in which it was published, might...

In larger cities, as the bath of Constantine was located in, the baths tended to draw on the ornate, generally with colonnades, arches, and large domes . The primary materials used would have been of stone, most likely large quantities of marble would be used for decoration on the walls, floor, and columns. A hypothetical citizen would not be entering the baths during the evening, as the baths would generally close at dusk, a citizen would instead arrive earlier in the day. a would most likely find themselves within a changing room called the apodyterium where they would disrobe. After disrobing, the citizen then had a wide selection of destinations which he could select from. Roman Baths being a social gathering provided all manners of entertainment. Depending upon the bath in question, amenities such as libraries, gardens, or lecture halls to name a few. The key portion of the baths however is the baths themselves. Inside the baths there was three primary baths. the citizen would generally transition from the hot bath "Calidarium" to the warm bath "Tepidarium", both of which used a heating system of lighting fires and channeling the hot air through the hypocaust, the area underneath the floor. then finally the citizen would make it to the unheated pool, the frigidarium, which was generally located in the center of the baths. Beyond bathing the citizen would have the ability to work out in the
One of them is known for its beauty and ecological importance. It was declared a national park in 1972. It called the Roques. It has white sand, clear water and spectacular blues. Another one is the Turtle. Its extraordinary surface makes it the largest island in Venezuela and one of the most beautiful. Furthermore, Venezuela has beautiful mountains. The Avila, located in Caracas, and Angel jump in Guyana are the most important in the country. The Avila can be visited by cableway, trucks or walking. When people arrive at the top of the mountain, they can see the whole city, and this is amazing. Also, the Angel jump is the highest waterfall in the world. It is unique, wonderful, and amazing to see. The Medanos of Coro are the sand formations. In the national park are permitted excursions like bathing beaches and water sports such as (sailing, skiing, surfing and diving). In established areas, there are outdoor games, hiking, camping, and picnic. We also have an amazing and important city named Caracas which is the capital of Venezuela. People go outside for diversion, night life, and a variety of delicious restaurants. Similarly, it is a world-class cosmopolitan city. In the west of the city, in the liberator municipality, tourism is important in terms of the historic town and the cableway among

It was another site set up by the park just a few hundred feet below the vegetation line. In this area you could clearly see where the line of vegetation stopped, and turned into a rocky landscape. From this spot we went on our second hiking trail across a rocky and snow covered mountain top. It was incredibly strange to be walking in about six inches of snow in the middle of July. The temperature had dropped dramatically from when we were at the base of the mountains it was about a twenty degree difference in only twenty minutes of driving. After getting back to the car we were back on the road and we were heading to the highest point in the

In November 1985, one of the most catastrophic eruptions took place to rewrite the history of natural disasters. It was a volcanic eruption that took place in northern Colombia in Nevado Del Ruiz which took many lives. Over 23,000 people were killed and caused mostly due to a large mud flow which “swept through the town of Armero.” [4] These mud flows is what geologists call “lahars”; the word comes from the Indonesian term for “hot or cold mixture of water and rock fragments.”[3] Lahars are quite dangerous because it grows exponentially in size due to the snowball effect; it grows larger in volume as it accumulates water, rocks, soil, vegetation, buildings etc. It picks up anything in its way which causes makes it quite deadly. Tamu Massif, does this name sound familiar to anyone? Well, it may soon become a household name, one that will change the history of science books. Tamu Massif, so named from the founding University, Texas A&M University and the french word for “massive”, has been found in the Pacific seabed, about 1,000 miles east of Japan. This is the world’s largest volcano, actually the biggest in the entire solar system, imagine a volcano the size of the state of New Mexico, massive! 20 years of studying the mountain range, Shatsky Rise, that was formed 130 to 145 millions years ago, had produced the findings of a 120,000 square miles of volcano. Though scientists don’t know if it is a single volcano or one of a series of complex volcano’s, they do know
The belt of volcanos resides through central south Mexico. This belt is over 600 miles long. The famous Sierra Nevada is a part of this volcanic belt. Because of the volcanic activity and rock deposits, soil produced in this region is amongst the most fertile. Many of Mexico’s finest agriculture grows in these regions. The Paricutin Volcano is referred to as a scoria cone volcano. This name is derived from the shape the volcano took while developing. Scoria cone volcanos are renowned for appearing suddenly, creating a cone shaped volcano, with a large inward dome, before going extinct or dormant for long periods of time. The Paricutin Volcano is one of the youngest volcanos in this region. Scoria cone volcanos are the most common type of volcanos in the region. The crater created by the volcano is almost 200 meters across. Tourists are able to easily hike up the volcano and can walk around the perimeter of the crater.

inferred for the reservoir (4). The magma ascent to the surface occurred through a conduit of possibly 70 to 100 m in diameter (5). A thermal model predicts that such a reservoir should contain a core of partially molten magma (6) that can be detected by high-resolution seismic tomography.
