Egg Drop Project For my egg drop project I used 4 cardboard cut outs, half of a bottle, yarn, popsicle sticks, 2 balloons, and a garbage bag. I used the popsicle sticks & the cardboard cut outs to build a box to surround the egg. Then, I glued some yarn to the bottom of the box for cushion. After the glue was dried, I put the egg on top of the yarn and glued the half of bottle around it. I attached the 2 balloons on the opposite side of the box. After doing all of that there was only one thing left to do, which was make the parachute. When I made the parachute, I cut a garbage bag in half and folded it into a square. Then, I cut four pieces of yarn (same length) and tied it to the box from each side of the parachute.
The purpose of this project was to understand the forces, momentum, and energy a contraption would experience during an impact from a pendulum at 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25mph. The project was required to hold and protect 2 raw large Grade A eggs from each pendulum impact respectively.
Dropper Poppers are rubber toys that resemble half a rubber ball and are shaped as hemispheres. They are turned upside-down (or inside-out), left on a flat surface, and after approximately 5 seconds, the dropper popper flies upwards, going higher than its original position. Simply put, the rubber needs to return to its original position, and creates a high surface tension. The rubber’s urge to return to its original position also causes instability within the structure of the dropper popper. When you drop the toy onto a flat surface, the inverted part pops back out, slams into the surface, and causes the toy to bounce into the air. It started one day in a science classroom. That is where I learned about diffusion. Diffusion is the movement of a substance across a membrane, due to a difference in concentration, without any help from other molecules. (Unknown, 2) In the egg lab the egg experienced diffusion over the course of several days. During the lab I also learned about hypertonic solutions and hypotonic solutions. The hypertonic solutions concentration of the cell is less than the outside of the cell. (Trent, 1) Hypotonic solutions have a higher concentration in it than the area surrounding it. (Trent, 1) I learned about hypertonic solutions when we placed the egg in corn syrup which caused the egg to deform and become squished. I learned about hypotonic solutions when we placed the egg in water which caused the egg to swell. This process can also be defined as osmosis which is the diffusion of water molecules across a membrane. (Unknown, 2) When we first got the egg it would be an isotonic solution meaning that having equal tension (Unknown,1) which would mean that the same amount was inside the cell as outside of it. There are three safety features in the egg project. The three safety features are seat belts, brakes, and airbags. The seat belts are made out of tape. The seat belts put pressure on the passenger. This means that it will keep the passenger inside the car instead of flying out and getting injured. The airbags are made out of bubble wrap. The bubble wrap will have a huge impact on the area of the passenger. It is like a soft cushion. This protects the passenger from hitting the passenger. The passenger will get hurt by the airbag, but not as much without one. If there wasn’t an airbag in a car, people would be getting into a second collision. A second collision is where the body hits the car. That is the whole point of an airbag. The brakes are made out of cotton balls. Then I attached the “steps” to the milk crate. The steps will hold the base of the ratapult at a 25-degree angle. I attached the “steps” by drilling holes in the bottom of them and then tying them to the milk crate. Then I nailed the board with wallpaper into the back end of the base. The base was then nailed into the “steps”, and glued grass decorations and cardboard cows to the base. The ratapult was completed.
I would advise them to make a pillow like contraption that would allow the egg to land on it with out rolling of the pillow.

Egg Albumen Experiment The purpose of this investigation is to establish which is the lowest concentration of Copper (II) Sulphate solution that will denature a sample of egg albumen (egg white) at room temperature. The base of the reaction is the globular protein (albumen) being denatured by a heavy metal (Copper (II)), the copper (II) reacts with the NH3 group causing it to denature, this means the proteins' secondary and tertiary structures are being altered and refolding into different shapes, this resulting in a change from the substance being clear to turning opaque.[1] As the concentration of the denaturants increases more folding and changing of shape will occur and therefore more denaturing will occur and at a faster rate. From this I can predict that that lowest concentration of the solution is approximately at 0.03m solution.

Skydiving has been around since ancient Chinese times as a form of aerial stunts. Leonardo da Vinci and the Chinese are both credited for creating the parachute, but it was really in the 18th century when France both created it and used it by basically throwing themselves out of planes. Little did anyone know that skydiving would be one of the craziest sports today. Jumping out of a plane two and a half miles up into the sky would not be someone’s idea of a normal day. As bad as two and a half miles up in the sky is, try doing it traveling at a rate of one-hundred and sixty miles per hour with just a parachute to save you. To many people this would be a nightmare; but to some of us, it is the biggest thrill of our lives.
The materials used for my project, include: a sweatshirt, twizzlers, and glue. I came up with the idea of gluing the twizzlers to the sweatshirt. When I first began this project, I did not count on being faced with any problems. I thought that I would just glue tiny pieces of cut up twizzler to the sweatshirt and that would be that. The first problem that I faced was: the candy would not stick to the sweatshirt. For whatever reason, the glue was not able to hold the twizzler pieces to the front of the sweatshirt. This definitely prolonged the gluing process. Once this problem had arisen, I went back to try to think of what I would be able to use to glue this candy to. I tried two different things. The first, a sheet. The problems with that was, that the sheet was so flimsy, that when I went to hold it up (like I was going to show it to someone), the candy pieces fell off. The second thing I attempted was a bath towel. The issue with that, was it was too thick. The pieces of candy stayed glued, but the end presentation was not something that I would have been proud to show to the class.
