Effective Communication In Health And Social Care

Introduction

In this essay I am going to be explaining about effective communication and how important aspect it is in health and social care setting. NHS has been getting a lot of complains regarding of patience being misunderstood, which could result to misdiagnosed, non-complaints to treatments and mistrust of medical and social services. In 2011/2012 a report has shown the biggest overhaul to the NHS in over 60 years. After that a new law had been put to place (health and social care act 2012). It also shows using effective communication; it would clear-out the barriers between the professionals and service users. Hugman (2009, p.15) describes effective communication as “a reciprocal, interactive process in which sender and recipient

have responsibilities to ensure that a message has been received and understood” I am going to be applying theories to support my arguments.

1.1) Apply relevant theories of communication to health and social care context

In health and social care context, there is a great need to contribute holistic care by professions (body, mind and spirits) to those Individuals. To better the services in health and social care setting, is to applying relevant theories. Learning theories is the understanding human development and growth, is used to improve the efficacy of communication between the professions and patients relationships. There are quite a few theories known in health and social sector, such as humanistic, cognitive, behaviourist, psychoanalytical and social approach.
