On page 269 Edward Bloor has a message and the message is that the truth will set you free. When he says this I think that he means that if paul explains the truth he will be free from Erik,Arthur,Mom,and everyone else. When he says that he will be free he is saying that if you speak the truth you won't be disrespected anymore by people and bullied by erik or arthur. For example when paul spoke the truth everyone stopped lying to him and they stopped bullying him. Erik and Arthur got in trouble caused they were the ones that killed louis. other day. Antonio saying that if he was to tell the truth everything would be better paul would feel safer around people like Erik and Arthur. Antonio is saying this because he knows that Erik has been doing all of this stuff and wants Paul to say the truth so that he won't be in any more pain. For example Erik and Arthur will be turned into the police, the homeowners will believe that paul was right, and that everyone will know what happened to louis. Body 2 The way I feel about the message is that I feel that if I was in Paul’s shoes I would tell the truth because I wouldn’t want my older brother and his friend picking on me for the rest of my life. So I would just buck up and tell the truth so that I wouldn’t get picked on by my older brother. I think the author wrote this message because Edward might have went threw the same thing. For example he might have witness someone that was bullying him his whole life but he did not want to speak the truth. Body 3(Optional) I have went thru something like this.
I was getting bullied by the same guy threw out the whole lst grade he was big and he always bullied me. I was too afraid to tell anyone because I thought that he was going to bully me even more because I told on him. So I thought to myself if I told someone that he was bullying me and they yelled at him and he never bullied me ever again. Body 4(Optional) IN the book tangerine Paul hasn’t been telling the truth and that leads to some bad things in the end of the book. Paul was going threw some terrible things like Erik and Arthur killing Louis, Erik and Arthur robbing the houses. Then Antonio told Paul that “ It is time to say the truth little brother”. Paul was still to scared to speak the truth because he thought that him speaking the truth wouldn’t do him much good. He went with his mom and dad to the homeowners meeting because they wanted to talk about the major robberies. The homeowners were talking about who might have been taking the koi. They were suggesting that it was the Conclusion - Restate Thesis, Closing Thoughts In conclusion Edward Bloor wrote a message for the readers to write about. The “truth shall set you free” means that if you say the truth you will be free from all the things that have been haunting you. For example bullies, adults, and other
people.
Paul Fisher endures a great deal of obstacles in the novel Tangerine, to him being kicked off the soccer team because of an I.E.P paper his mom filled out and a underdog in his own family, due to his athletic brother who plays football, Erik Fisher; as well as having a shaky memory. However in spite of all of that, Paul does his absolute best to hold his head high, have self-confidence, and overcome these
Paul Fisher rises through the problems he encounters, first starting off as a cowardly and timid boy to a brave and strong person. The book Tangerine reflects how the consequences of Erik Fisher, Paul’s brother, affect Paul after Erik injured his eyes, punched his friend, and ignored him. Erik and his friend, Arthur, make fun of Paul’s friend, Tino and the other children for being farm-labors through remarks such as, "Look at this. I think it's great that these farm-labor kids get to spend a day away from the fields. " (Bloor, Page 204).
In conclusion, the choices made by Paul's parents in the novel Tangerine, by Edward Bloor, affected Paul in several ways. The decisions they made included moving to Tangerine County, being neglectful towards Paul, and being dishonest when it comes to the truth of Paul’s blindness. Although some of their decisions influenced him severely, at the end, Paul became stronger and
“But what is freedom? Freedom from what? There is nothing to take a man's freedom away from him, save other men. To be free, a man must be free of his brothers. That is freedom. That and nothing else.”
As a child Paul and Norman were very much the same, for they both seeked love from their father but, growing up Paul strayed from his fathers teaching. We see that in fly fishing; Paul leaves the four tempo technique, and creates a technique called shadow casting. Paul seeks attention, for example when he danced with the Native American girl all eyes were on them due to the provocative dancing or Native American. Paul loves being in the center of attention whenever; he came home he would often tell stories with both parents giving him full attention. Paul’s character was very boisterous and quick-tempered. Paul tended to start fights and cause a scene. Paul is not reserved, and he will quickly tell you how he feels. Paul is a very independent person, and he does not like to receive help; for example after the gambling scene Paul tries to dissuade Norman away from helping him. Paul is not one to follow other people’s example, but rather sets examples like fly fishing. Paul has an alcohol and gambling problem, and he knows, but he refuses help due to his pride. Paul was equally loved as a child, but he craved for attention as an adult because he did not know what to do with the love that was given to him. In the movie Paul started to really act out when Norman came home, and perhaps this was because he felt as if he was in Norman’s shadow. Norman was called the “professor” in the family because he went to college, but Paul never left Montana, and he could never achieve what Norman achieved perhaps that is why he acted so immaturely to receive
"Paul's Case," by Willa Cather, is a story that deals with a young boy who does not feel that he lives a life befitting of him. Upon a close reading, it is evident that "Paul's Case" is ruled by irony and symbolism, which are apparent in the story through the words of the narrator. The irony woven throughout the text builds up to an epiphonic moment, a main paradox in the story, which reveals to the reader Paul's true nature.
Every encounter Paul has with someone he creates a new identity to bond and connect with them. Throughout the play Paul creates multiple personas for himself, he realizes that he is an empty vessel with no past and only memories of what he has done during his different personas. Paul loses control over his multiple personas which cause them to overlap with each other. Which causes him to feel lost and in search of help, when Ousia offers this help he gladly takes it which end up putting him in prison and never to be seen in New York.
...take away the freedom of thought. It will stay with us until the end of time. Viktor E. Frankl illustrated this in his essay “An Inner Freedom” from the book Man’s Search for Meaning. He stated, “The sort of person the prisoner became was the result of an inner decision and not the result of amp influences alone.”
Have you or someone you know been bullied? Your answer is probably yes. So was Jodee Blanco, the author of Please Stop Laughing At Me… One Woman’s Emotional Story. Starting in 5th grade up until high school graduation, she was tormented by her classmates, getting little or no help from authority. Even her parents began to believe it was her fault. She understands what it feels like to be bullied and wrote the book as something other victims can relate to. She also wrote it to show people how bad bullying really is and get them to understand that it shouldn’t be dismissed as a normal part of growing up and allowed to happen. Something should be done to prevent kids from going through this. That is her main point in this book. The main idea of this book is Ms. Blanco sharing her experiences experiences of being bullied through much of her adolescent life to show people the horrors of bullying and that it shouldn't be allowed to continue.
In the beginning of the story, Paul seems to be a typical teenage boy: in trouble for causing problems in the classroom. As the story progresses, the reader can infer that Paul is rather withdrawn. He would rather live in his fantasy world than face reality. Paul dreaded returning home after the Carnegie Hall performances. He loathed his "ugly sleeping chamber with the yellow walls," but most of all, he feared his father. This is the first sign that he has a troubled homelife. Next, the reader learns that Paul has no mother, and that his father holds a neighbor boy up to Paul as "a model" . The lack of affection that Paul received at home caused him to look elsewhere for the attention that he craved.
...hers might say. He tells our narrator, “The most important thing in the world is knowing the truth.” He goes on to remark, “The whole truth and nothing but the truth” (Mahfouz, 69). In this story, the Truth had a positive affect on the character. It gave him a new sort of freedom. He had gained a new sense of identity because of his new knowledge, and this evoked a sense of happiness in him.
The topic of freedom can be seen throughout the short story “The Censors” by Luisa Valenzuela. In the short story “The Censors”, it says, “...thinking that something might happen to Mariana because of his letters. Of all people, Mariana, who must who must finally feel safe there where she always dreamed she’d live.” This evidence shows freedom because based on the quotes, it shows how the letters might harm an individual. This means that if someone sends a rebellious letter to the government, the person who receives or sends the letter will be executed if caught. Another evidence that was stated in the book is, “Juan knows there won’t be a problem with the letter’s contents, that it’s irreproachable,
As the tragedy comes to a close, the truth is revealed to Oedipus concerning his lineage and unnatural actions. Although the truth had been spoken to him about these matters previously, Oedipus had chosen not to believe and understandably so. True revelation comes to Oedipus through the same slave that had been ordered to kill him as a baby.
There is no doubt in his words and this brings the readers closer to what Owen is saying and they would believe him more because they would be shocked by the words
...n people have nothing. If people had more compassion for others the United States would not have all the problems that it does today. Mrs. Erin Gruwell had compassion for the students; when they saw how much she cared they changed their perspectives on life. Against all odds toward against Mrs. Erin Gruwell, she had the power of human will to teach the student. The writer introduced several scenarios on how young innocent children were influenced by family and friends of the same racial background to create hatred and gang’s violence against other races. Five messages in Freedom Writer are: Non judgmental, Racism, having compassion, the power of the human will, and education. Being non judgmental, having compassion and having human will helped Mrs. Erin Gruwell educate the children at Woodrow Wilson Classical High School. Segregated by race, united with education.
