Increasing public interest for the natural world is driving business organizations to give careful consideration to their ecological footprint, not only in the commodities and services they offer, but also in the supply chain that conveys them. What initially began as a corporate image improvement strategy has developed into a business imperative and, in the most advanced organizations, a competitive advantage. In today’s global market, the expectations for business companies about greening supply chain are very great particularly the consumer electronics industries, thus, international business outfits are putting in lots of effort to ensure their supply chains are operating in a socially and ecologically responsible manner in order to remain competitive. Everything we use on this planet comes from somewhere, from the food and water, to the electricity. Majority of what we use is produced using natural resources. This is one explanation for why some natural resources are dwindling. According to Ian Moffatt, the concept of the ecological footprint has to do with the way humans impact the Earth. (1) He talks about how Americans are living well beyond their means. The ecological footprint explores the relationship between humans and the biosphere, while also measuring how much land and resources are needed to maintain a sustainable environment based on the how much is consumed by humans. The ecological footprint incorporates energy and materials that we use day to day.
The Center for Sustainable Economy, ecological footprint quiz was very informative to partake in and the results were impartial to my thoughts based on questions of what I expected in each of the four consumption and ecosystem biomes categories except for one. What I found surprising was the overall results of my lifestyle, that equate to 4.83 Earths, if everyone on the planet lived my lifestyle. Wow!

Every day the world around us is changing ever so slightly in many different ways. Humans can affect the environment through our day to day lifestyle without even noticing the change. An ecological footprint is a measurement of how much a person uses the environment around them to live their life. This given measurement can help one to see their impact on the earth. It is an important tool to understand what actually a human does to change the habitat near them. My ecological footprint results gave me a perspective of how my daily life can impact the world I live in, as well as, how I as an individual can change my actions to make less waste on earth. It is also useful for each person to know their own ecological footprint since no one live
Sustainable operation management is a management approach that involves planning, implementation and control of business operations that translate available resources into the required product or service. It is the management of business practices, traditions and operations to promote the highest level of efficiency, smooth workflow, and increased productivity in an organization. This management strategy ensures that the available labour force and materials are changed into products or services in a cost effective way to increase the company’s returns (Corbett, 2009). It also involves production waste management, food waste reduction, creating new opportunities, environment protection, and improving customer health. Sustainable operation management in the retail industry around the world has gained momentum in the recent years, in the face of customer pressure and media interest. It is particularly linked to the concepts of corporate social responsibility and global warming (Morrison, 2013).

In terms of a layman, the answer would be “less pollution and the least pollution”. Basically it’s the pollution that creates nuisance in environment with emission of various gas forms, wherein the major portion lies with the Carbon Dioxide Co2 which is involved vigorously in creating global warming. Who is accountable for Global Warming? Well the responsibility lies in us the “humans” OR calls ourselves the “devastators”. With the discovery of science and technology we get closer to the “development” and closer to the “devastation and disaster”.
Our environment is crucial to the survival of the human race, providing key energy resources such as food, water and fuel for our everyday lives. Without this resource, the human race would suffer significantly so it begs the question, why are we slowly destroying it? Problems like overpopulation, deforestation and pollution are all man made creations which are destroying our environments. Weber (2010) highlights one of the main reasons why the public’s perception of climate change is so poor is down to psychological influences. People either do not believe or choose to ignore the consequences of their actions on the environment. It is important we analyse what are the most important psychological barriers to pro-environmental action in order
An ecological footprint is the amount of the Earth’s resources that are required to sustain an individual or community and their impact on the environment. This is calculated by incorporating multiple factors and is expressed as the amount of land required to sustain their use of natural resources. I feel this is a useful measure for understanding ones impact on the environment and natural resources, especially the final tally of acres that are need to sustain my lifestyle and the total number of Earths that would be needed if everyone had the same impact and need the same amount of acres to sustain their lifestyle. I also think that most people would respond to a calculation like this one because it is expressed in numbers additionally
Through the ecological footprint experiment I conducted, I realized that if everybody were to live in this manner, we would be in need of 6.13 earths. This is the amount of the land’s ecosystem habitat that the human race today would require in order to survive sustainably (Dunn, 2008). The online ecological footprint calculator is a very innovative and informative application that poses great benefit to the society. The ecological footprint calculator calculates the amount of inputs and outputs of an individual’s lifestyle in effect of the natural resources within their region of habitat. This consequently enables for a self-assessment at the individual level, where one can follow specific measures to reduce their ecological footprint to a sustainable level.
Deforestation. Electricity. Car. What do these words have in common? The carbon footprint is made of carbon compounds that a person emits when they use electricity, the car, and much more. Almost everything in the world has a carbon footprint. The carbon footprint is a really bad thing for the environment, but if everyone knew that a carbon footprint is, where it comes from, and how to reduce it, everyone could help the Earth.
There are lots of environmental issues going on globally. The earth faces problems such as pollution, global warming, waste disposal, and loss of biodiversity. These are just a small amount of issues out of the so many. These environmental problems pose an abundant amount of risk to the health of humans and animals. There needs to be a solution to all these problems and that is by informing others, so that way everyone can make the environment a better place.

For sure, development will cause a huge negative impact to the environment if it deals without a care. Besides, the environment is the place in the ecosystem to hold and use in finding resources to continuously survive in this world. Thus, the finding and digging for the resources which happening extensively without preservation will not restore the surrounding similar with before. But then, the change cannot be refuse and people need to take an action to save the threaten the world and the ecosystem from being extinct. If each country has own output in causing an environmental problem, then consider the world to hold all the damage occurred. Exposing the effects of environmental issues throughout the world, make people realize the important to take care the environment.
