It is physiologically impossible for the human body to live longer than a couple of weeks without some form of food intake. In my experience, what kind of food that you eat defines the way you act and live. This is mostly due to the fact that food derives from culture and background. This background provides fuel for one’s soul, fuel which they can use to pursue their passions. This also incorporates intangible and tangible sources of nourishment that are distributed in ways other than physical intake. What is “food”? Real food is sustenance for both the mind and the body that is typically presented in an experience. These experiences then, in turn, reward us with some sort of emotional or psychological value. In this definition, I include the processes in which food is made, eaten, etc. as food. The process of eating food has become ritual in a part of our cultural, containing many components. Eating actual food which is grown and tendered through an extended preparation or cooking process enhances the human experiences we have when partaking in it. The whole process of preparing and eating food is entirely considered in my definition of food. As sustenance for the human body, I only consider food mostly prepared by humans as food for humans to eat for the emotional content that the process provides. …show more content…

While food made by machines is still food, it barely has the same effect on someone as the process of a home cooked or fresher meal. This is because there is no side of emotional value that comes with the flavored “meat” served at a McDonald’s. While these fast food chains are convenient and affordable, it makes it harder to appreciate food as a form of sustenance.
