In today’s society, transportation is a huge part of how we function. Although some believe a person has to be much older, or mature, before being able to drive, I think people should start early. In my opinion, one should be eligible to drive at the age of sixteen. I believe driving should be a privilege for sixteen year olds because of the responsibility, activities that require transportation, and they can assist others. Responsibility is a very important thing when it comes to driving and I believe that sixteen is an appropriate age for people to have this responsibility. While driving, teenagers get a taste of what adulthood will be like by being on the road with adults and peers. Adults have a great deal of responsibilities and starting to drive at sixteen is a really good way for teenagers to learn about these responsibilities. Driving can also get teenagers to learn about the law. There are so many things that people need to know while they are driving, for example the speed limit. If somebody didn’t know the speed limit or if they were being careless then they could get not only themselves but fellow drivers and …show more content…
People have busy schedules and sometimes need a little help, so having sixteen year old be able to drive would alleviate some of the pressure of everyday activities. A lot of parents work longer than the school days so it is helpful to have someone around to assist in things such as running simple errands like getting groceries or picking up a younger sibling from school. Being able to drive also helps in emergency situations. If somebody close needs help immediately, it is a good thing to be able to drive them somewhere to get help. This helps to teach many important life skills and helps prove that the person driving is old enough to care for younger siblings to help parents and the busy schedules everyone
At the age of 18 teenagers will already be traveling to colleges and moving to dorms and they will have other things on their mind than their very important driving
...year, raising the minimum driving age to 16 seems hopeful in making safer roads for society. In doing so we all should strongly encourage our teenage drivers to be more mature, to pay more attention, to be more confident in their driving, and to not think that they are so invincible to accidents.
For years fiery debates whether the driving age for teens should be sixteen or eighteen captured the nation. Sixteen year-olds have a legitimate argument for keeping the age where it stands, but statistics show that sixteen year olds are not responsible enough to drive, and that more practice is needed before anyone should get a driver’s license. However, from the looks of it, it seems that legislation is going to make the legal driving age eighteen.
I think middle schoolers should be given the privilege to drive because it would teach them how to be responsible at a younger age. Middle schoolers should drive because it would be more convenient for both them and their parents. It would be much easier for the parents. Because middle schoolers are given the chance to drive,
Driving at the age of sixteen is perfectly okay with people who does not seem to care because he or she feels as if someone gets into a car they are automatically going to put all attention into driving the vehicle which is not true nowadays because teenage drivers feel the need to be on a cell phone or trying to control the radio and trying to get dressed or put on make up when he or she should only be focused on operating the car. As the CDC stated “High school students aged 16 years and older who, when surveyed, said they had driven a vehicle one or more times during the past 30 days when they had been drinking alcohol.” ("Teen Drinking and Driving"), high school students are actually drinking when they should not be anywhere neat alcohol beverages and be able to drive. Based on these facts “Teens are more likely to speed, run red lights, make illegal turns, ride with an intoxicated driver, and drive after using alcohol or drugs.” (Only the Strong Survive "Teen Driving Crash and Fatality Stats"), teenagers are most likely to one ride with a intoxicated driver, and two driver after using alcohol or drugs which proves my point that teenagers should not be able to drive at such a young

Engines roaring and cars flying down the highway recklessly, racing to the finish. This is a stereotyped outlook on teen drivers. This however, is not the case. Teens don’t drive to race down the road. They drive for freedom. They drive to get where they need to be on their own. The driving age should not be raised to 18 because it takes away their feeling of freedom, Denies the access to needed transportation, denies experience, It puts additional stress on parents, and they need to be learning the driving skill while they’re young.
More than 5,000 teenagers die while driving each year in the United States (Gregory). In my opinion this is due to three different, yet equally important factors. The first factor is that the teenage mind is yet to be fully developed, causing them to make irresponsible and sometimes reckless decisions. The second factor is that the experience of driving has evolved since the original driving age was established in the early 20th century. The third and final aspect to take into consideration would be that driving is the lowest minimum age of any adult restricted activity in the United States. Although, it can be one of the more harmful, not only to the perspective driver but his or her surroundings as well. Taking all three of these factors into account I believe the minimum driving age should be raised to 18 to decrease the accident rate amongst teenagers.
Turning the age of sixteen is a huge step in the life of a teenager. When becoming the age of sixteen a new challenge is brought into that person’s life, and that new challenge is driving a car. But are sixteen year olds ready for this for this task? Some people would say that driving a car can be very problematic for a sixteen year old. Those people are right, sixteen year old should not be driving cars at that age, and just leave it for the people who are eighteen or even older to handle such a task. There are several good reasons why the government should raise the legal driving age to eighteen than leaving it at sixteen.
Driving at the age of 16. I think driving at the age of 16 is a good age to drive, because your parents aren’t going to drive you around until 18. They would get sick and tired of it because they have to woast there gas on your events. At
How old is old enough to drive? Most would argue the legal driving age of sixteen seems appropriate for someone to begin taking the wheel, while others say that twenty-one is a more sufficient age. Even though raising or maintaining the driving age at sixteen contain both pros and cons, major facts need to come to consideration if the driving age ever increases. As a teenager driving, I believe that people wanting to raise the driving age do not realize the negative effect that that would cause. For instance, if the age increased, teenagers would lose independence and freedom, parents would have to sacrifice their time and freedom, and even though teenagers die in car crashes every year, it would not decrease the overall number of deaths per year.
Responsibility is one of the most important aspects that young adults need to learn in order to be successful their schooling, their work, and many other aspects of their lives. Therefore, wouldn 't it make sense to teach this at a younger age, before too many monumental decisions are required to be made? Driving a motor vehicle is a huge responsibility in itself. It is also proven that as a driver becomes more experienced and obtains more responsibilities through driving, they become more responsible in other aspects of their lives. This is very important, especially for young adults who will soon be living on their own and making their own decisions. This is because the majority of high school students begin living independently shortly after graduation, whether it be getting a job and their own house or attending college. Due to these new arrangements, responsibility is very important so that teenagers don 't do anything unwise with their new found freedom. Due to this, the legal driving age should clearly remain at 16 years of
Although I can drive on the wild road, it would be more beneficial to the world if driving age is changed from 16 years old to an older age. My concerns of the age group are the distractions as in technology, peers, and instincts. I consider that 16 to 19-year-olds should have at least a year's experience before qualifying for a full license to drive unsupervised. There will be mature people as well as fewer accidents if the legal age to drive would be raised to 20 years old.
“Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of unintentional deaths for teens (16-17),” reported The New York State Department of Health. The most exciting thing about being sixteen in the United States is driving. Teenagers can not wait to be sixteen to drive, however, they do not understand the dangers that come with driving at such a young age. Sixteen is the age between child life and adulthood. It is a time when they are not stable and undergoing change, which makes them unsuitable to drive. Many teenagers would say that they need to get to places. In response to that claim, there are public transportation systems and bikes as available alternatives for young drivers. The financial stability and matureness of eighteen year olds proves
When I was in school almost everyone had their drivers lisence but me it felt like. I knew nothing about driving yet wanted to get it my license anyways. I did not have a car or a job. "In the AAA survey, the most popular reasons teens gave for not getting their licenses sooner were they did not have a car; they could get around without driving; and that gas or driving was too expensive" (Vock 3). Even though I could get to school with a bus or with my parents driving me I still wanted to feel like an adult. I still wanted a drivers license to fit in. Teens should wait on driving if they have a bus to pick them up for school they should take that for granted because when high school is over they will not have that. When I lived up north in North Dakota The roads were always covered in snow. I was thankful that a bus could pick me up instead of driving.Students who did drive in my school got into accidents mostly small accidents not fatal. Teens may get their licence early because of pressure, But in reality they should wait until after high school with practice it will help keep them safe. Many teenagers get behind the wheel when they are not emotionally ready
