Driverless Autonomous Cars

We, humans , are one greedy specie. We are never satisfied with what we have achieved , always dreaming for more. From landline to smartphones, from Flyera, invented by Wright brothers to Boeing 777, from Telegram to E-mail we have travelled a long way, definitely it’s just the beginning.
We have moved from bullock carts to Ferrari 457 Italia, but one thing remains the same, a person controlling the vehicle.
Some time back driverless car was only a dream, only seen in sci-fi movies, nobody was ready to believe that it was the future.

2017 was the year of cars, not just superfast, excellently designed cars but driverless, autonomous cars.
So, what is an autonomous car? According to Wikipedia, an autonomous car (also known as a driverless …show more content…

The technology involved in a driverless car of the future will be such that each vehicle can be optimized to ensure fuel consumption is as efficient as possible. So much so that new-age cars are expected to help reduce emissions by 60%.

3.Free Time:
With humans no longer involved in driving, commuters are likely to save up to an hour every day – time that will undoubtedly have many spin-off benefits from wellbeing to boosting the economy.
According to McKinsey, commuters worldwide could save a combined 1 billion hours everyday once autonomous vehicles go mainstream
4.Space savers
Driverless cars will play a key role in the future of smart cities, and they will even impact the way city infrastructure is designed and built. Today, parking lots require cars to be parked with enough space left between each vehicle for the driver to get out after they have parked their vehicle. Self-driving cars will negate the need for this by parking themselves, meaning it will be possible for cars to be stacked more closely alongside each other.
It is estimated that driverless cars can be parked with 15% less space – resulting in significant space-saving for urban areas across the globe.

The cost of implementing the new technology could be way out of reach for most people. Currently, the engineering, power and computer requirements, software, and sensors add up to more than $100,000. Over time with the improvement in technology, it is bound to get more affordable.

Acceptability:
1. The most savings in terms of cost, time, and lives are going to come from when more people "opt-in" to the service. If self-driving cars are not adopted widely, accidents can and will still happen.

For any technology or a product to be successful people have to buy it. But the reliance on automated cars is pretty low despite the hype it has created.

Privacy :
Driverless vehicles could build a “gold mine” of personal data for private companies and would make it easier for them to target people as consumers, an Australian law professor has warned.
“These vehicles will know where you like to frequent, which businesses, and may very well build a profile of you,” Butler said. “People will go into these things not realizing just how much data the vehicle will be generating about them and not knowing the extent to which the data can be used.”
