The second image demonstrates a poster that contains a different message. The poster makes a remark on American society with looking at societal need for alcohol and need to drive. Americans tend to drive from point A to point B on a daily basis. The use of one’s car creates a financial need due to the prices of gas. This poster makes a comment that to fill up one’s gas tank accumulates more money that of purchasing alcohol. Over time alcohol creates a societal need. Alcohol allows people to reach a sense of euphoria due to the effects of alcohol. When drinking alcohol, the ethanol in the beverage metabolizes in the liver and permeates through tissue and begins to affect the brain. The lack of judgement one faces when intoxicated creates the sense that driving under the influence is not a problem. Societally drinking while under the influence has been an issue over the years. Prevention methods to try and reduce the amount of DUIs programs such as DARE, were created in hopes to teach children about the threats of alcohol. In the program, police officers address the youth through open dialogue about alcohol, use movies, and actual stores as well as scenarios so that children can learn about the threat of alcohol. When examining that actual relationship between alcohol and driving, drivers ed classes teach new drivers about the effects of alcohol and how those issues will cause one the inability to drive a car. Police officers look at a person’s BAC when determining if someone is intoxicated while driving under the influence. The legal limit for driving a car after intoxication is around .07. The effects of alcohol depend on the gender of the person who drinks the alcohol. Men contain .58 of water per pound while women contain .49. The poster uses beer as the alcohol that is cheaper then gas. 1 beer contains about 13-17g of alcohol, creating a situation that depending on who is driving and how much beer they have they will be driving while intoxicated.
