Topic The topic I have chosen to do my report on is Donald Trump and how he uses language different from other Candidates. Hand Gestures. One of the most famous trademarks of Donald Trump is his frequent hand gestures that he uses before, during and after one of his speeches or rallies. The most frequent hand gestures that he uses is the two thumbs up, that he uses to agree with someone or the crowd that he is speaking in font of. Another gesture used during his speeches are the running of his hand through his hair before he talks to the people or an answer. An example of Trump using his hand gestures is during a speech in Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania, as he talks about immigration and about “The thousands and thousands of people coming over here” Trump points at the ground and draws a boating circle saying “they are sending them all over here, putting them all over this country”. Catch Phrases …show more content…
He uses these catch phrases to help him get his point across of whatever he is talking about, also the catch phrases help the people have a better understanding of what his is talking about or trying to prove. These Catch Phrases are just as important to Trump’s Campaign language as his campaign slogan “Make America Great Again” is to his Campaign. An Example of one of Mr. Trump’s catch Phases is “Listen, I have made a lot of money” normally when trump said this he’s talking about America’s economy and how he can help fix it because of his business experience. Another one of Trumps catch phrases are “Look, I’m worth 10 billion”. When Trump said this people were questionable on how he got that he is worth 10 billion because Forbes.com estimates his fortune to only being 4.5 billion, this is just another part of how he uses language to catch attention for his
The use of persuasive literary devices and tactics guarantee a strong and powerful address. However, Trump’s address, could leave Americans feeling unsettled as he manipulates a traditional address. He synthesizes an addresses that will surely be remembered for its lack of sophistication, abandoned formality, and aggressive tone. The ramifications of breaking tradition results in Trump’s failure to prompt
In, “The Lie Factory” by Jill Lepore, she examines what attracts a voter to a candidate. “You can put on a fight (‘he likes a good hot battle, with no punches pulled’), or you can put on a show (‘he likes the movies; he likes mysteries; he likes fireworks and parades’): ‘So if you can’t fight, PUT ON A SHOW! And if you put on a good show, Mr. and Mrs. America will turn out to see it.” (Whitaker qtd. in Lepore) In the case of Trump, he combines both fighting and showmanship to create a dangerously alluring combination. The more ostentatious he can be, the more support he earns. Every hateful remark, every verbal jab is given media coverage, until Trump is spoken and known by everyone, becoming an almost mythical figure. He repeats the same mantra, everyone is bad, and I am the victim. I am rich so I will make you rich. I will make America great again. Every day, there is a new more vicious and personal attack, yet he has desensitized us to the point in which we no longer abhor such comments, but instead laugh, and find comedy and entertainment. To some, even acceptance and
Obama uses multiple rhetorical devices that are centered around repetition because that is the only way he can make the public understand whatever he’s saying.
Trump’s use of pathos is simple and repetitive. He claims, many times, that he will return safety to America, effectively ending crime and violence. Trump constantly paints the country in a dystopian light, emphasizing how terrorism and police attacks have placed the United States in a state of crisis. Besides making claims that crime is rampant, Trump also uses anecdotes to further incite the crowd. By mentioning stories about an immigrant killing an innocent American college girl and Iranian troops capturing American sailors, Trump highlights Americans’ safety concerns both domestically and
“The beauty of me is that I am very rich” according to Donald Trump. His ignorance has lead him to do things that he shouldn’t being doing or has done. In the past few months he has been racist man that would insult people that are from a different race. When Trump started running for president he would insult and bully everybody in general not knowing the people’s stories. He made people seem like they are poor and have nothing to live for, Trump’s inability to see past his greed. He wants to separate the United States and wants people to think he is the best of the best; Trump should not be President.
Many people know the name Donald Trump very well, while others know little about him. Some have very strong opinions to Trump running for president and others are on his side, despite what he says. This is a very controversial topic in politics right now, especially because he has many supporters and he is a republican. Donald Trump has too many suspicions about his running for president. For example, he ran for president before as a Democrat but failed and he went to run again, but is now a Republican. Trump also had gone bankrupt before, yet he is running for president. He also has made statements that he wants to stop immigrants from coming into the United States, which has made a lot of people believe he is racist. There are many different
Trump has had a remarkable impact on social media and in result that has helped build the reputation he has today as well as the popular stance he had all before becoming president. His influence on media began when he became the executive producer and host of The Apprentice. Within the 14 seasons as host, Trump had accumulated north of 200 million dollars, aside from how much he was making from his other businesses (wiki 1). Throughout his acting career he has also appeared in 12 films and 14 television shows as a cameo and earned himself a Star on the Walk of Fame ( the life history
In the 2010s, division throughout America had risen and its citizens were concerned about the outcome of their future. In response to this, Anand Giridharadas gave a speech in 2016. Giridharadas's speech acknowledges his disregard for the suffering and fear of the people due to his lack of understanding of the situation. The author's use of rhetorical choice throughout his text and use of vocabulary allowed him to connect with the audience and provoke a sense of empathy and kindness. Giridharadas's use and placement of pronouns and subject pronouns in his speech persuade the audience to consider those with different experiences as it incorporates himself and the audience.
Yellow hair. Real estate mogul. Presidential frontrunner. 4.5 billion dollars. What do all these things have in common? They all are accomplishments of Donald Trump. Donald John Trump, Sr. was born June 14th 1946 in Queens New York. I am here to talk to you today about Donald Trump’s real estate career, how he got into the business and how he go into politics. Trump is most well known for being an American business magnate, investor, author, reality television personality, and Republican candidate for President of the United States in the 2016 presidential election.
I did use some hand gestures in my speech. For the first few minutes I did not use them, but as I moved through my material and got into the actual demonstration some hand gestures were used. I also noticed in the video that I was not always watching the audience. I use to think that I made good eye contact, but after watching the film I really only glanced at the audience. I believe that I could make significant improvement in this part of my speeches. While I was up in front of the class I thought that I was looking out at the audience more then what I actually did.
Often what Trump says is wrong, but he makes it sound right. An example of a simple answer given by Trump is to “Build a Wall”. That is a very simple answer to the immigrants that come into the United States. A lot of people didn’t like this idea, but at the same time it was a solution that was a simple answer. It showed very little thought, but at the same time it was right. If you don’t like immigration, just build a wall. That was just one reason to “Make America Great Again.” Another simple answer given by Trump is that if you are suspicious of Muslims to track them in a database. It is just a simple answer that sounds right. Though these answers to these questions may not be right or may not work it is just something that is simple and is an answer to the question. This shows a lot of confidence that Trump has. It shows that Trump has an answer and it shows that he has authority. While some don’t like seeing Trump in office others love to here what he does. A focus that Trump has is immigrants and a lot of people dislike immigrants. This brings me to the next topic and that is his supporters hate
The United States of America is known as the nation of freedom, a place to make dreams come true, and where equal rights are followed. However, our education in history shows a different perspective. The citizens have had a complicated time convincing the mind of Congress on modifying the rights of the people. Before, women could not vote to choose the future of America, yet after many marches, the women who rose up to speak with great fervor accomplished their goal of making it possible for women to vote. The Presidential Election is a time for people to vote for the leader of the country. As I turn 18 yrs old, I have the opportunity to vote for this country’s future. What led me to the desire of voting was hearing Donald Trump’s negative
Historically unique to the Native Americans, Sign Language is used worldwide today. Gestures are used to communicate almost as much as spoken dialect, especially when one is relaying a story. Without gestures, speeches (and speakers) would quickly become dull and boring. The usefulness of gestures and Sign Language that enabled communication among the various American cultures of the past can not be overstated. Consider this, every nation on earth at one point or another, has universally nodded their head for yes or shaken their head for no.
There is always change in a persons life or loved one. No matter what happens something is always to be an outcome of it. In the poems, “When You Are Old”, “Lake Isle of Innisfree”, “The Wild Swans of Coole”, “The Second Coming”, and “Sailing to Byzantium”, Yeat’s shows the tension of change and ability. All of the poems show some kind of change no matter what it involves. Change can make you feel like nothing is the way that it was once before. You can sometimes not be too pleased with the way that your life is leading you and you need to make a change in some way to be happy again. When making changes in your life, you have to be sure not to make a religious change, you must always remember who is the creator of all things possible in your life. Think in a way that in years from now, what will still live on and be remembered in a positive way, those are the things that you need to cherish most in life. Life, love, hope, or death; it all proceeds to one ending: change.
