Have you ever really wanted a pet but you could never decide which one you really want? It has been years since I have owned a pet and I think its time that I should get one. I didn’t know where to start because there is many animals but there was only two I could choose between. So I decided that I would go between a horse and a dog because I have had owned a dog in the past and as well as a horse. Both animals would make amazing pets. You are able to interact with them and they bring joy to you. After doing some research by asking my experienced family members I have found that both animals have their pros and cons like any other thing that exists.
These two animals are not only used for riding, racing, being a mans best-friend but they are also used for therapy. There is many organizations that own these two specific groups of animals that are specially trained to help people with special needs. Horses are mainly used to help people with bone movement one specific area is the pelvis. Horses move the way the human pelvis does so thats why horses are good for bone therapy. However, dogs on the other hand are used to help people that have problems mentally and also physically. You can spot them easily because they wear a special vest that indicates what their job is. For example, dogs assist blind people by leading them where they are going and other things.
In order to own a pet you have to be very responsible. Therefore, you have to be able to see your pet every single day and check on them if they are doing good. After comparing all the differences and similarities that the both animals have I have came to the conclusion that no matter what pet you have it requires one-hundred percent commitment. The question for me now is “Will I be committed to take care of the pets every single day?” That question is something I have to really think about. Hopefully when I am a responsible and committed adult I am able to own not only a dog but also a horse.

I have always had a passion for animals. As a young child, I was convinced I constantly needed new animals, but we never had the space to care for them. In an effort to fill my desire to be involved with animals, my mom decided to sign me up for English horseback riding lessons. Although I never really believed I would enjoy English riding, I went to the horse barn about two times a week to practice. Over time, I learned to enjoy the sport and I created a bond with the horse I rode; he became my best friend. We went to competitions almost every single weekend and I won multiple awards. When my parents separated I had to stop competing. I was devastated to leave the behind the horse I had grown to love, however, I knew that this would not be the end of my future with animals.

These animals are usually friendly and active; they are intelligent and can develop a strong relationship with their owners based on love and care. However, having dogs is a big responsibility for the person who owns them, because they are animals, so they cannot support themselves. During my life, I have had different pets ranging from cats and dogs to hamsters and a lizard. Being in the United States Army, having cats as pets is much easier to take care of as opposed to having a dog as a pet. There are many reasons as to how I came to this decision, but the deciding factors were based upon bathroom use, feeding, and the amount of attention and time that both cats and dogs require. While these factors are not all inclusive they are just the ones that had the most impact on my decision when picking a type of a pet. I am currently watching my Soldiers dog while he and his wife are on leave in the United States and this is reinforcing how much easier military life is with a cat rather than a dog.
