Economic Benefits of Dog Parks
Public building constructions are a delicate subject, because requires tax payers money, whom usually have different opinions about a matter. I, for instance, believe a city could only benefit of having dog parks available for the community. Dogs are domestic animals, usually treated like family and protect by law against cruelties. As many agree, dogs can become very aggresive if they don't unleash their supressed energy. A dog park would allow them to exercise freely withim the land, which would be a great contrast from the cities rules of not allowing them to be loose in most public spaces. Chances of you being bitten by a restricted dog at a friend's house or even on the street are much higher
All of us grew up in places where we see how public space acts as a social glue. It is a space where the public can experience, values, history, interests and culture together. Public spaces give all of us a chance to relax after our busy lifestyles. It is a space where we can hang out, eat, play, show our culture or just simply sit on the benches and relax. Mike Davis’ chapter “ Fortress L.A.,” from City of Quartz, uses a prose style in describing how reconstruction in Los Angeles was made in a sense to improve the public spaces but, it changed public spaces drastically. The urban designers redeveloped Love Park, by claiming reconstructions can make park more tremendous vista. In certain cases, redevelopments of the public spaces can
Also, educating parents and grandparents etc, on animal/ children safety could greatly reduce the number of attacks on children. You should never leave a young child unattended with a dog, or any animal for that matter, its just not safe. Children that have been attacked by family dogs that have been around said child its whole life, tend to be the results of the child being left alone with the dog and not properly supervised, not nasty or mean dogs. Any dog could snap and turn on somebody, esp a child who say, doesn’t realize the dog is in pain and jumps on them etc. As long as dogs and childrens interactions are supervised many dangerous situations can be avoided.
The passages "A Dog Park Benefits All" and 'No Dog Park for Muscatine" both have very reasonable points on whether or not there should be a dog park in Muscatine, but one author clearly has the dogs in mind while the other has the taxpayers in mind. I believe the two authors can find a middle ground with the deicision. Instead of a whole park dedicated to dogs, maybe opening a dog center would be more ideal. A large indoor facility for dogs to exercise and socialize in would solve the majority of most of the issues listed in "No Dog Park for Muscatine"; taxpayer money, legal issues, and disturbing concerns.
Dogs deserve to run around and be free without a leash holding them back. Dogs deserve to have a chance to go further then what their leash allows them to. Pet dogs should be allowed to have their space where their owners can take them, so they are not in just an empty lot or on the streets possibly causing injury to a nearby resident or themselves. Back in 2013, researchers did a report of owners who left their dogs in shelters, which resulted in 65% of people who say they left their pets in a shelter due to bad behavior. If dog parks were available to residents, there would be less dogs in shelters, fewer bite reports from dogs, and less bad behavior from dogs in general.
Sacramento is a bustling city with a diverse population and a city structure to match. In the last few decades the growth and development within our area has grown exponentially, land that was completely vacant fields and farmland has been replaced with shopping centers and freeways, expanding with the population increase in recent years. With the fast-track building of these areas before the economic collapse, more areas were developed than can currently be filled, which unfortunately has left many new buildings empty and lots paved for new construction or parking lots left unused. This is in addition to the expansion of roads and freeways in an attempt to relieve the traffic congestion that comes from rapid urban growth.
The modifications of existing building and the construction of new ones under the most recently proposed building codes would be too costly to implement. The billions of dollars would be required into order to perform the suggested renovations. Marolyn Davenport, a vice president at the Real Estate Board of New York and a member of the task force, states that, “Burdensome restrictions would make construction too expensive.” He goes on to say, “While you want to incorporate safety features, at the same time we have to compete with surrounding areas” (Qtd. in Chan 1). Buildings that would fall subject to the new building codes would be given an unfair advantage in the competitiv...
The city of New London wanted to build office buildings, a marina, and a pharmaceutical research center on the waterfront, but 15 home owners stood in the way. This new development wasn’t meant for the public use, but instead for the private benefit. The city of New London ultimately won and the 15 homeowners were evicted.
Capital Area Humane Society helps people, so why can’t you help them? Every week they serve dogs, cats, bunnies, and sometimes more. Although dogs usually stay only 4 days, and cats only 11, CAHS does its best to help every one of them while they are there (www.cahs-pets.org). But CAHS needs your help. Come to the Capitol Area Humane Society and help out all the dogs, cats, and bunnies by donating or volunteering.
A dog par can be a good experience for dogs because they can feel the relaxing place where they do not have to use leash, so they are free to move wherever they feel like to inside of the park. This situation can be helpful to the people, since they are free of worries of their dogs because a big closed pet-friendly place would give them the confidence that there are no hazards, like vehicles, or any damage to the dog. Also, a dog park in the city would help to create friendship and an identity of community since dog owners do not have to go to other cities to enjoy of these kind of parks. Instead, they can be part of an identity and recognize themselves with their own city.
Dogs can carry out multiple tasks which prove they are a large asset in fields in which man can possess flaw and error that can be unforgiving and not to mention deadly. For decades dogs have been aiding in the works of keeping crime low, prevent terrorism, detecting explosives and patrolling for drugs and narcotics that can be dangerous to others and to please humans more than any other animal. Dogs can contribute greatly in the health and safety of our nation.
Imagine this, you are in a mall and a dog wearing a vest comes prancing in with its owner. What would you think? How would you react? Is it trained? Why does the owner bring in his/her dog to a store? Chances are, this is a service dog. Service dogs are used to help people with mental health issues, physical health issues, and social issues. Why do we need service dogs? The people could just go to therapy right? Well, wrong. Service dogs go through extensive training, to ensure they will be able to allow socially inept people to find a place in society, even though there may be some alternatives to their job. Together, let’s explore the ways that a service dog can help people function in society.
My dogs dont get out much. Mainly because I just dont have time to take them on hour walks. A lot of the time I just wish I could bring them somewhere and let them run around without me. A dog park does exactly that. Dogs, bigger expecially, need a ton of exercize. Even the ASPCA has explained how much exercize can improve their health. When a dog doesn't get the exercize they need, they can rebel against their owners, causing issues in the home for both the owner and the dog. When, if there was a dog park the dogs could go run and play so that issue wouldn't be there. So therfore I believe a dog park would be very benifical.
Public Spaces provide unique experiences and contribute to the identity of a city. Found as places like plazas, parks, marketplaces, within buildings, lobbies and many more. Public spaces are important to our society and therefore face more arguments in design and construction compared to private spaces.
How do dogs and their owners generally behave at the dog park? Do owners follow the dog park rules? How do dog owners resolve conflict, especially when their dog is showing signs of aggression? Throughout this paper, you will find my research observations along with a comparison of other similar findings. My hope is, that by the end of this paper, you will have a unique perspective and appreciation for dog
