When parents think about keeping the teens out of trouble, the first thing that probably comes to their mind is curfew. It is a big controversial topic that people argue about. Some of them believe that it works when others say it does not make any difference. Teens crave independence. They rebel against curfews because they think they are old enough to make their own decisions. They are willing to have as much freedom as possible. Even though trouble can happen anytime, teens are most likely to get in trouble at night, because the later they are out, the more they are exposed to the people who are drug or alcohol effected, wild parties and violence. Curfews are needed. People who say the curfews do not make any difference believe that teens can get in trouble anytime, with or without curfews and nothing can stop them from doing what they want. However the point of curfew is not to keep teen out of trouble hundred percent. The whole purpose of curfews is to reduce the risk of them getting in trouble, protect them from late night harm and keep them safer as much as possible. Therefore the curfews do serve the important purposes. It is an appropriate way to monitor teens’ activities, keep them from making life-threatening decisions associated with peer pressure, ensure they get adequate sleep and rest at night and support them emotionally. Monitoring the teen’s activities is one the most important thing that parent has to do. When kids are starting to reach their teen years, it is getting harder and harder to control their behavior and action. Nothing can hurt parents more than knowing that their kids are being in trouble and pain. They are the only people who would do anything to keep their teen safe and out of trouble. When they are setting a curfew it is absolutely reasonable and right to do so, in order to protect their stubborn teens. If they give them absolute freedom, without control most of the teens will end up making life threatening, fatal decisions. It is really hard to control teens, as they are rebelling, protesting and complaining against curfew, but they do need limits, boundaries and control. Curfews are needed and they serve extremely important purposes. It is an important part of raising the kid. It is parents’ obligation to keep their kids out of trouble as much as possible and make sure they have safe and stable environment for become responsible adult.
